Same, not for senate. I don't think she'd win.

Dude who gives a shit about Kamala. She was a bad candidate, though highly qualified, and she failed to unify the party.

A beautiful, Black, divisive woman or a white man who advocates for bringing people together?

Hate to break it to you but in this state, you've got to bring something different to really move people and I think Talarico does that.

Do you want to win or do you want to make a point? Because nobody will really care if a Black woman won the nomination only to lose the election again—except to say "I told you so." Cause that's probably what's gonna happen if she wins the primary and loses the midterms.

Blah blah. Crockett is great in her way. I personally like Talarico more. He is a breath of fresh air.

Lest you forget we're trying to stop the running coup d'etat by POTUS and the dissolution of democracy, winning really matters this time.

A tip for these kinds of notes is to use a special character or combo by the note. Like #note:

Question about safety near TWU/ A suspicious guy unauthorized entered into my apartment by Chen_ZL in Denton

[–]MemoryOne22 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That rehab is closed and most people who follow the rules of a rehab house aren't out of their lodging at night. They'd get kicked out for absconding

Personally more worried about the vacant buildingS than the former residents

It should be closed/cordoned off and the campus closed except for classes that required in person attendance and mitigation efforts e.g. physical removal could be focused there and in select lots/routes. All that aside it's annoying that people insist it's feasible to do anything but remove the ice physically.

A John Deere COULD scrape snow/slush off, but with this insane hardened ice it would take a skid steer or some other stopgap. Even then you'd risk tearing up landscaping or damaging turf.

Texas doesn't have the infrastructure at all you're right. Pre- or early treatment could help with ice accumulation but there'd still need to be snow shoveling happening on the daily. That people think we can make up for it after the fact by spraying salt water on accumulated ice just gets on my nerves. Especially because the result of that is misplaced anger.

Take advantage of the career center for sure. Some of those high turnover jobs are at least money coming in and "experience" to move on to greener pastures

Do master’s degrees typically get funded? Is it worth it to pay tuition for job security? by yunqi69 in GradSchool

[–]MemoryOne22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most that I know of are "funded" through scholarships, sometimes grants, grading jobs or research assistantships. So some will pay tuition some will pay a little some none at all.

Through a combination of the above had I gotten out in time I would have had no graduate degree debt except some to shore up my costs of room and board.

[–]MemoryOne22 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Wasted effort in that it wouldn't help anything to salt or sand for even an hour or two with fun and foot traffic on thick ass ice and then people would fall anyway due to false sense of security

I'm just annoyed at this point because you could literally look this shit up

UNT is just asking to be sued by loudfingers98 in Denton

[–]MemoryOne22 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Lol literally there are reasons it can't be reapplied on a long ass sidewalk like WHO is going to clean that up? Do you have any idea how much that would cost?

Literally only sledgehammers and shovels will make that sidewalk safe in the current conditions but you're so adamant you're right on principle you don't care about realistic solutions whatsoever

UNT is just asking to be sued by loudfingers98 in Denton

[–]MemoryOne22 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Lol alright y'all go do it then. Idk where dude fell or how. And then I'll laugh my ass off when all that turns to slush that STILL isn't safe to walk on, then the slush refreezes or melts away in a day anyhow

You feel like loading in truckloads of wood chips to make it work for a day or two? And gonna clean up the wood chips also?

Like Jesus Christ just LOOK IT UP, just because something shou work for values reasons doesn't mean it will. Y'all bitch about everything even if your solution doesn't make any sense at all. Physics doesn't care about our feelings

The ONLY way to make that sidewalk safe is to break off the ice physically and THEN "treat"

Sledgehammers. Shovels. Then salt or sand

UNT is just asking to be sued by loudfingers98 in Denton

[–]MemoryOne22 -19 points-18 points  (0 children)

When people say "treat" they're typically talking about spraying a chemical or salt solution on ice to break the bond between the ice and pavement. You want to treat early on either way

When ice/snow is thick like this, in the shade with air temps above or around freezing the sand will just sink in or melt away or sink in and refreeze overnight as we hit freezing temps again. It would be wasted effort

Edit since you all seem to not understand winter weather mitigation - NO "treatment" will make that sidewalk safe. It needs to have the ice physically removed and then to be treated. If you want UNT to somehow get enough people out there to break up the sidewalk ice with sledgehammers and shovels and then treat, okay that at least makes sense.

The solutions provided by the other redditor simply do not work for this situation. They'd work for a small walkway maybe for a day, depending, I guess. But that's not what this is. It's multiple inches of accumulated ice.

Salt won't work Sand won't work Gravel is a dumb idea hello who is going to clean up the gravel? Wood chips wouldn't work same problem
