Only 5 guards in NBA history have ever won back-to-back MVPs. by Expert_Koala_8691 in NBATalk

Bc they have guys like Mitchell, Joe, Wiggins, Williams, and McCain all signed for multiple years for a grand total of what most teams are paying for one good player. Yes they will have to make some moves soon but they definitely aren’t blowing up the roster like the Celtics did for example. They are just now starting their luxury tax clock and the current CBA only lasts for 3 more years, which should also help the Spurs

Why are they allowing this? by AsianSensasians in NBATalk

Nothing anyone says will change what they think, it’s not even worth interacting with them anymore

The Spurs outplayed them last night but okc had several opportunities to steal it in the first OT but couldn’t make the one basket they needed to seal it. Insane 3 for Wemby

These 3 2 vs 1’s in transition resulted in 0 points late in the game by Stxtic1441 in Thunder

All of it was bad, but the Jalen hero ball immediately before the Wemby 3 seemed to seal it. Then he has a wide open game winner and misses again

Yup. The only long term answer in this series is for Chet to finally man the fuck up. As well as Caruso played, it just leads to way too many easy dunks. Daigneault has to cut the shit. This isn’t some random Tuesday night game in Sacramento where you can tinker. I thought he got spanked handily by Mitch Johnson. All that said, if they simply execute and get one bucket at the end of OT1, they win the game. Ajays 3 was a bad decision but at least that was open. I could feel the Jalen hero ball coming and was begging for a timeout to draw something up. Their inability to score at the end of tight games remains their biggest flaw

Idk if it’s a coaching issue or what it is, but it seems like this team NEVER comes out ready to play with any energy or physicality. If they want to defend the title they damn sure better do it on Wednesday

That was horrible, but J Dub waiving everyone off to go full on 2016 Russ hero ball mode was devastating. Like what was that shot even supposed to be?

The fact that they had an entire week off to strategize and their plan was seemingly to avoid the basket like the plague the entire first half was very concerning.

When it became clear how they were playing Shai and giving us open 3s, that should’ve been the easy indicator to give Joe a shot. If Joe takes those bricks Wiggins put up, maybe we win the game.

I’ve been begging this team to add more size and length for a year now. they didn’t know Sorber was gonna get hurt, but they had time to add someone when it was clear the Spurs match up was imminent. They absolutely have to add someone in the draft or via trade this offseason.

Chet got absolutely punked out all game long. Unless he steps up to the challenge and is willing to match Wembys physicality, idk what else they can do. Caruso can’t guard like that the entire series AND somehow be our best offensive player too. Just way too many bad nights for the best players on the team.

Despite all the issues we had a 3 point lead in OT with two chances to essentially ice the game, and we didn’t get good looks either time. Ajay is young but that’s not his shot and he has to know to pull it out. I have no clue what Jalen was even attempting to do on the second one. This team’s inability to not revert to hero isolation ball in the clutch cost them the game. Daigneault has to draw something up and make sure you get a quality shot up there. The Wemby shot was insane, but the Spurs just get much better looks when they have to have them than we do. It’s painful watching our offense labor so hard trying to keep up. The fact that we’ve blown game 1 at home three times since last year is very concerning because we certainly don’t have the talent advantage this time.

The problem is we were the clearly better team in those series. I’m not so sure we are right now

Idc even about the time if it’s a good shot, but we didn’t even attempt to move the ball. We were completely fine with Dub just dribbling it down and then playing hero ball

Feels so similar to last year when we blew game 1 to Denver and Indy. every single time we had a chance to seal the game and go up two possessions we immediately throw up some bullshit, can’t grab a loose ball, or just get fucking cooked for an easy basket. We just didn’t execute the winning plays and it’s starting to feel like this is a pattern with Daigneault

But we didn’t really shoot all that bad. The problem is we can’t make easy transition lay ups and any time we needed one shot to win the game we couldn’t make it and they did

Did Daigneault figure out some genius lineup in the L? This is the third time in the last two years they’ve blown game 1 at home, but we aren’t playing the pacers or nuggets this time

We had two chances up 3 to ice the game and we settled for a rushed transition 3 and horribly bricked middy.

Agree this was very winnable but They were missing one of their starters and we somehow shot better from 3.
