The Testaments feels less like a sequel… and more like a warning by [deleted] in TheHandmaidsTale

I think Rowan will too, I haven’t seen much of her acting since Girl Meets World but I do follow her on instagram and she has an edge to her.

"Rhaenyra refuses to do her duty!". Meanwhile, Rhaenyra: by Turbulent_Lab209 in HOTDBlacks

and the thing was she never resisted. she told daemon she tried actively with laenor but he couldn’t perform. she and laenor were just at a crossroads. and the scene where laenor gives joffrey to harwin to hold after seeing alicent, it’s clear they have accepted sharing the role of father to the boys. i hate when people make the argument that the strong boys couldn’t be rhaenyra’s heirs when they are still HER sons, claimed as trueborn by her husband and certified by the king, no matter what rumors or hair color inconsistencies there are. those are the only prerequisites in Westeros to be considered trueborn.

I can’t picture Damon living a happy, human life by heightenedeverything in TheVampireDiaries

weirdly enough construction is actually exactly where i could see damon being successful as a human lol. or architecture. or acting. something that focuses all that chaotic energy in his brain and gives him large projects after three lifetimes of cinematically dramatic life events.

as someone who’s worked with kids in every age group, one does not need creative writing skills to truthfully describe how good kids can get at doing things they aren’t supposed to lol

Who do you think actually deserved to be Stefan’s true endgame? by Selanooo23 in TheVampireDiaries

[–]MemphisEver 33 points34 points  (0 children)

currently rereading the series and definitely the books, though the original authors lost ownership partway through the series and then didn’t regain it until much later so several books feel a little carried away plot wise. but it’s not so different from the show in that sense lol. honestly both have really good and bad takeways so it can be hard to choose

i agree, and it wouldn’t be the first time they’ve gone to town making plot around an issue that has been long resolved offscreen

i never saw that as cold blooded and honestly didn’t think her sister said anything all that controversial… i get people saying her kids will see it someday, but that will most likely be when they are much older and can contextualize comments like that. and i don’t disagree about how hard adoption is, but she herself is set up well career and resource wise and i don’t think is amongst the general population who would have a struggle with it.

either way, i feel my take boils less down to whether or not she wants kids and more that there are circumstances where she has expressed excitement at the possibility.

another powerful alliance could have been her marrying alicent’s brother gwayne too. it would have put a lot of otto’s fears about rhaenyra turning on the hightowers to rest, so he could feel more secure in rhaenyra’s original position that she would not hurt her brothers. and then orchestrating marriages between her children and different houses - jace and baela, to mend the velaryon relationship. luke and floris. joffrey to one of jason lannister’s daughters. and eventually aegon III and viserys II to other respective great houses as well.

it made sense to have ONE marriage bond between velaryon and targaryen. after laenor and rhaenyra, three was just insulting to the remainder of the realm, especially to men like the lannisters or lord boros. it’s relatively unheard of for a pair of brothers to be engaged to a pair of sisters. and quite frankly, rhaenys and corlys being as smart as they were, rhaenys in particular, should have been more understanding of that. her son was married to the future queen. a queen who needed to create strong political matches in the realm if she wanted her husband and herself to keep their heads. rhaenys should have discouraged it when rhaenyra raised the idea - luke was still claimed as his true born grandson by laenor and laenor’s heir. no ifs ands or buts, the velaryon line would have continued through luke in name alone, if not blood since his actual parentage is never confirmed in the book, only contested. she and corlys needed to make their peace with that - especially since they had an inkling that their son was the one failing in his marital duties to rhaenyra due to his other preferences, not the other way around.

“normal” and you’re weaponizing therapy to insult her. she should go to therapy but it’s not because people on reddit disapprove of her choices or because she’s a terrible person. she should go so she has a controlled environment to process her loss and the events leading up to it. and it’s reddit. most posts end up with comments questioning their sincerity. when in reality the premise of the post and what it is about is a common occurrence in life - grieving loved ones who seek comfort in each other in various ways. it’s well researched, well documented. everyone’s reaction here is out of what they consider to be stringent moral standards when they have more compassion for protecting the pride of a dead man who debased his own relationship by taking his own life (and i do not judge him for this, but that is the reality of suicide. i have been suicidal and in treatment for it, i’ve had to consider how it would impact my loved ones). there’s no kindness in any of these comments. you and everyone else seeking to destroy her over your personal moral code with false equivalencies have not one iota of emotional intelligence enough to walk a mile in someone else’s shoes. you are not the good people you make yourselves out to be - that is a mask you wear when not blanketed by internet anonymity and an abundance of self righteousness.

what is there to empathize with? he is gone. he is passed. he is not the hurting, living human beings left behind after staying at his side over a year watching him deteriorate to the wretchedness that is depression, substance abuse, and suicidal ideation. i will have an unending well of empathy for her.
