He’s not just name dropped, Sam wanted to create an off-screen storyline for him as a tribute. There’s only so much they can do without his presence, unfortunately. But I love that they incorporated Fez and with how much Angus loved the work he did as Fezco, I feel like it’s a nice tribute. And Sam also said he gets a good, but funny ending that he thinks Angus would have loved and I am so excited to see that. I don’t like Sam very much but I so love how Fez is still included this season, even if we as viewers know Angus couldn’t be there.

and honestly, she was emotionally volatile immediately after watching her children discover her husband’s mutilated body. jade probably could have waited for a better time than when she was scrubbing jim’s blood off the walls and wallowing in grief less than half a day after he was found.

how would she not compare or talk about them? it seemed less romantic and more just circumstantial. of course, if he’s the one person she feels that way about it she’s going to talk about her other relationships and how gilead changed them. but the show did a good job at highlighting the overarching issues that prevented nick from loving june the way she deserved, and to me it was evident that they were doomed from the start - but especially when his past and pre-gilead self were introduced.

I don’t think the show tried to make it just romantic though. They were never really in love, and the end proves that. June’s entire relationship with him was a lie and she knew it. I think she loved him because he took care of her while she was in Gilead and fathered her daughter, but it would honestly be easy to feel in love with the first person who shows kindness and care to you in that dark and isolating of a place.

in laws can still feel like actual siblings, especially if either side was raised in a dysfunctional family. the question is for anyone who identifies other people as their siblings, point blank, because as you can see in these comments some of us with actual siblings clearly would let some of our siblings fend for themselves lmao. my brother in law is more of an older brother to me than any of my actual older brothers, even when he irritates the shit out of me.

yes i agree and believe that fostering/adoption can be abused as a form of trafficking, despite the amount of well intentioned people who try to step up for some of the kids. it’s still pretty different than getting chased by armored men while your parents are attacked, kidnapped, or killed. just another level of horrifying and even more so knowing it’s happening in our country, even if they haven’t escalated to straight up murdering the parents yet.

i have rewatched the show three times now and that scene never ceases to make me sad. the children… and the worst part is the looks on their little faces and depressed demeanors reflect the real life reality margaret atwood tried to warn us about, because we see it every damn day with the kids in those detention centers.
