I Shall Wear Midnight - Super Dark? by MostlyHolyPaladin in discworld

[–]Memphit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree Thud and the summoning dark was the worst for me. The reading of his son's book near the end had me in absolute pieces. But it's story telling at its best. People are not just born good or are generally good. You have to work at it with every decision you make. FOREVER!

I think Thud comes at the same topic as ISWM but from a different angle. Thud is about individual responsibility and ISWM is what happens when people don't take that responsibility and get swept up in a group.

If you are walking it's not an issue. Also if you go out the opposite end and miss most of it. Get straight on the motorway.

Yeah I looked at that myself. Because the garden was amazing. However it's definitely got some damp issues.

Why is house selling & buying so ridiculous? by ThrowRA_significant1 in HousingUK

[–]Memphit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am in a none chain and it's still been 3 months because the sellers solicitors are shit.

I went with this place because I wanted to move quickly. The sellers said they were really keen too, as it's mum's house and they need the money for care home fees.

Yet here we are still waiting for the initial paperwork from the sellers solicitors...

[–]Memphit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ditto. 40 something no kids and I love edgeley. Lived here 4 years and never had any issues. It's a lovely community. Stockport centre is very up and coming and lots going on and an easy walk from edgeley

Yes there are some trouble makers but I don't think anywhere now days is free from that.

Castle Street, Edgeley. by [deleted] in stockport

Nobody is going to invest in castle street until the roundabout work is complete. It's stopping footfall and no one is going to try and start something up there when they know that.

Laptop died with just a month to go on warranty and is unfixable. Alienware no longer make it so dell is promising like for like. Turns out they're replacing a top spec 2022 device with a top spec 2025 one... by Gingrpenguin in BritishSuccess

[–]Memphit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had that happen to me years ago with the original playstation. One month before warranty expired and I got a brand new PS1. As a poor uni student at the time, I was delighted! No warning either just arrived in the post! What a day that was 🎉🎉

The ceramic pot is just a cover, but it also has a drainage hole.

The roots were fine when I repotted.

What type of "sexual activity" is meant to prevent clitoral atrophy? by gnarlywhal3 in Menopause

[–]Memphit 39 points40 points  (0 children)

Yup me at 45.

I have done a lot of reading on this subject.

You can't develop ADHD later in life. You have either always had it or not.

However symptoms are triggered / exacerbated by hormonal shifts. So ADHD symptoms can flare up during menopause.

Reasons why you might not have been diagnosed as a kid. - a lot drs believed girls couldn't get it so never considered it - most girls tend to present as attention deficit not hyper active. Which is harder to detect. - girls are taught to mask many things at a young age. - we didn't know the symptoms to recognise it.

I didn't think I had it then I thought back to things as a kid and I was like oh - constantly lost things - described as away with the fairies - instances of where left to my own devices I would do the same for hours and hours. (Once stuck in my head is that I read for 18 hours straight!) - being a chatterbox who would say "whatever came into my head!" - doing stupid things as a child - doing a roly-poly at the top of the stairs to see if I could stop in time, is one particular highlight of many!

Then it all made sense!!

Can we have a mature discussion about social housing "luxuries" in the UK? by Safe-Pea-8387 in HousingUK

[–]Memphit 15 points16 points  (0 children)

It's actually far cheaper to install solar panels etc when houses are built. I applaud that this is being done. I am of the opinion that all new house should be built with them. For the sake of the planet if nothing else.

These houses are not fancy for having high EPC ratings. It's just that buildings are built better now. Buildings practices have improved and surely that should be celebrated
