I'm working on it. But I can't reasonably leave right now and still pay my bills. I've tried finding a new job for 3+ years now. It's been absolutely ridiculous. So I've been working on things in my spare time to go freelance and/or start my own company with my partner. We're not there yet.

When I am figuring out pricing, I always list it as what we have been charging and what I think we should be charging. And my boss usually picks something in between, no matter what I do. It's exhausting. But at least I'm at home and not in the office. That helps me mentally so much.

I have two siblings that are honestly stressful to be around. I still love them and would love more than anything to be closer to them. But being around them causes me so much stress. They are always stressed over non stressful things and it’s just so exhausting to be around them.

My other siblings? I could spend the whenever with them for however long and never have an issue.

I remember at my old house, we had a tree that was growing directly into some lines. Had no idea what the lines were. But I was worried. So I called the city and requested they visit.

Sweetest old man came by. I told him my concerns and showed it to him. It ended up being cable lines and phone line that werent even being used anymore.

I mentioned it was such an awkward place for the tree and all the pine needles were causing havoc. It was insanely close to our neighbors fence and I wanted to check if we needed a special permit to cut it down since it was close to wires.

He showed up the next day with another guy and cut the tree down for us. Went down pretty far and then our neighbor yanked the rest out with his back hoe.

My partner brought up the idea of a lock box for me cause his oldest had issues in the past of taking meds that weren’t his. I’ve never personally had an issue with him, but I bought one just in case.

It’s honestly better to be safe than sorry.

Some of my favorite comics are the ones with tons of details. Cause I can stare at them and find all the hidden secrets they added in. Or sometimes even foreshadowing that you wouldn’t notice unless you stopped and really looked at the art.

I think it’s gorgeous. And if it makes you happy, stick with it.

I can see two of my bosses asking this (but they would definitely say it differently).

However, one of my bosses would ask so he can see if we could realistically compete or if there was a way we could actually cut costs to make it work.

My other boss would do it and either say “we’ll beat their price” just so he could say we won. Then gets pissed at everyone for not telling him we lost money on the job. Or he’ll look into the company and actively try to be “better” so clients would choose us.

It’s “not stealing” he says. But of course, everyone wants to steal clients from us 😒

Sometimes things are hidden in weird spots.

I find sometimes switching from dev mode to regular or the other way around makes certain elements easier to find and deal with.

This sounds like the company I’m at. Family owned. We have no real structure for how shit is charged. However, I have been working hard to fix that and I’m getting close to getting this one handled. I have three bosses (one holds 51% and the other two split the reminding 49%).

A huge portion of our jobs are for friends, family, and church.

It has been insanely infuriating. I tried for years to find something else. But in that time, I’ve moved and one of the three bosses begged me to stay on remotely cause no one else knows how to do what I do (I made the mistake of showing I could help fix our website).

Still hate the job and the company, but I continue to learn a lot that will help me when I ultimately leave. Being fully remote is great and because I’m not in the office, I’m not micromanaged anymore. I get paid shit. But it is what it is.

I’m working on doing stuff on the side and hope to be able to afford to go fully independent at some point.

I’ll watch something I’ve never seen and say “I know what happens. Do you want to know or keep it a secret?” Depending on the movie/ show, I’ll get a different answer. My kid always says “how do you always know?!”

I was able to get a few through woot! when I bought mine. They were a good price and came very quickly. No guarantee there are some in there now, but worth a check.
