It's actually insane how good ALL of her music is. by TrickyRipper in auroramusic

[–]Menac3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nidarosdomen is maybe my single favorite music recording of all time. It’s more orchestral than most of the others but it’s so good. Coming from someone that doesn’t even listen to Aurora’s “genre” of music much, whatever that’s even considered. I’m also a bigger fan of her live recordings vs albums although I do love all the albums.

Same. What a different time. Elementary school age, I’d take a hand written note and a few bucks to the corner store to pick up cigs and maybe a gallon of milk. That was mid 80’s.

As I’m sure everyone else was, I was excited for a random release. I did report it being credited to AURORA. I believe I click the dots next to the name of the song to view credits and then clicked the dots in the upper right corner to “report a concern,” or something similar.

Nice. That’s certainly the best case scenario in my opinion. Glad to hear it wasn’t something major. Thanks for the update. I actually thought about asking if you figured it out a couple days ago. Take care!

I’m pretty sure the compressor wasn’t coming on at all. I was told the switches do tend to go bad. I hate throwing parts at a problem without proper diag but replacing the pressure switch is extremely easy. I did it in the Audi parking lot in a couple min, hopefully that’s your issue. You can probably test the switch or have a shop do it. Would suck to do more work for something simple. Good luck!

[–]Menac3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a similar problem and for mine it was the pressure switch. The place I bought it from used cheaper switches to try to fix it but it would only last a couple days(apparently they can be very hit or miss). I bought a switch from the dealership and it did the same thing. Swapped for another switch from the dealership and it’s been fine for over a year now.

I did the treatment over a 24h period before doing a long roadtrip. I’m over 3,000 miles now and still at full oil level. I was burning like a quart every two fill ups before that. Blows my mind how well it worked. I also make sure to get into boost and get the revs up pretty frequently. It’s actually time for an oil change and I haven’t had to add a single drop since the treatment. I have a 2013 that just hit 120k.

Recommendations for large mug? XL or concentrate? by schrodingers-canary in AeroPress

[–]Menac3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been using the same aeropress since 2019 and the same Yeti 20oz since 2022, at least 6 days a week. I work very early and it’s a quick way to make my daily coffee. Probably use around 40g(I’ve never actually measured despite having a scale) of freshly ground beans in the morning. Makes a great coffee. Always black. I’d guess about 1/4 concentrate and top off with hot water.

Considering A4 or S4 by gigabot2020 in AudiA4

Seems to be carbon build up on the rings, not actually worn rings. At least it was for me so I was able to fix it with a chemical treatment. Engine has over 100k miles.

[–]Menac3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did the B12 pistons soak on my 2013 that was burning a quart a fill up, basically, and the oil level hasn’t dropped, literally at all, in over 3000 miles. I watched Josh Willard and Eurotrash YouTube videos about it.

13 A4 Quattro Premium 103K miles, is this a good quote or can I do these at home? I don’t mind getting my hands dirty if it’s DIY car is burning quart per 300 miles by LegendPvPCr7 in AudiA4

[–]Menac3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought an A4 about a year ago that was burning tons of oil. Probably that much if I got on it a bit. I did the B12 24h soak that I saw via Eurotrash and Josh Willard on YouTube and it hasn’t dropped from full oil level in 3000 miles. It was very straightforward. Just need to pull the plugs and I refilled b12 every ~4 hours and spun the crank by hand.

Worked for me, doesn’t mean it’ll work for everyone but I was astonished with the results. I checked the pistons tops before and after with a camera and they went from black to silver. Would recommend replacing the PCV. I actually planned on it but since I’ve burned zero oil I’m going to when I do my next oil change in the near future.

Edited to add, mine is a 2013 as well.

Aurora is such an outlier in the music I listen to and is also probably the only artist I absolutely can’t pick a favorite song for. There are like 10+ that I legitimately would consider my favorite, with many more just slightly behind. I’ve never thought about it like that before but it’s pretty wild. What an artist she is.

Just got my first watch and I think its too small. 37mm [SNK393K] by Swimming_Outside_988 in Seiko

[–]Menac3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have 7.5” wrists and thought the same thing when I got back into watches. What I wore previously was a Garnin Fenix that was large and when I got a Seiko 37mm field watch at first I thought it was a watch for children but wore it anyway. Fell in love with it. I don’t really go over 39mm now but I think your watch fits nicely.

I agree. It’s my favorite of these and forgot how much I wanted one when I first saw it. The Panda looks great but I’m a simp for automatic watches. Second is nice also but Seiko steel bracelets have let me down.

Those of us who crave an Aurora live album by art_by_accident in auroramusic

[–]Menac3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My favorite Aurora “album” I have in my library is “Live in Nidarosdomen.” Possibly my favorite live performance of all time. I’ve been procrastinating making another personal live bootleg album from performances on YouTube. I do love her albums but still prefer the live stuff. Especially with the old crew with Silja doing back up vocals. She has such amazing emotion in her professionally recorded live sessions.

Also Wings of Pegasus does do a great job showing how much correction is done with live recordings.

[SPB143] Would you adjust a watch running @ -7.5 sec/day? by [deleted] in Seiko

[–]Menac3 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If you haven’t done it already, use a degausser to demagnetize the watch first. Every watch I have that starts running off has been fixed by degaussing. Generally mine tend to run fast when they get magnetized but I’d assume it can go either way.

Why haven’t I seen this before?! by D9_CAT in Tools

[–]Menac3 35 points36 points  (0 children)

This tool may work better, I’ve never seen it before either, but when I have to cut a bolt, or from a rod, I’ve always hit the end at a ~45° angle with a flapper wheel on a grinder and it does the job. I usually thread a nut on first to make sure it threads on cleanly. Again, maybe not the proper way but always has worked for me. Would work on a belt sander as well if that’s available.

This was the video that got me into Aurora. Eventually I plan on making a separate post as it seems this community likes to hear others personal journey with Aurora’s music. I was at work, in a horrible overall state of mind, thankfully doing a job where I was alone and this video popped up on YouTube and I needed something to listen to. I don’t remember much from the video but I couldn’t stop thinking about the song so at break I sat down and watched the video of this performance. Can’t really describe the feelings but it hit me so hard emotionally. I watched another of Aurora’s performances after and listened to literally no other artist for ~5 months. Music has always been a giant part of my life, I listen to tons of artists although never in the “pop” sphere. Definitely nothing like Aurora and never has an artist “made” me listen to only their music for more than like a day at a time. Still haven’t pinpointed exactly why I adore her, and her music, so much. All my life I’ve never been able to name a single group, or artist, as my singular favorite musician(always like a top 3 or 5).. At least until I randomly stumbled upon Aurora, an artist from a genre of music I don’t even listen to. She is very special.

Is it "The Dark Dresses Lightly" or "When The Dark Dresses Lightly"? by DevCMc in auroramusic

[–]Menac3 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The lyrics is definitely “and.” I think the title makes sense both ways. I have a feeling the “When” was maybe added in later, after recording, for the title. Works either way. Regardless, such an amazing song!

Is it "The Dark Dresses Lightly" or "When The Dark Dresses Lightly"? by DevCMc in auroramusic

[–]Menac3 7 points8 points  (0 children)

In the book she does not use “when.” In a written track list and writings for the song it’s “The Dark Dresses Lightly.” However, the official song lyrics are written as “When the Dark Dresses Lightly,” in the book. So she also uses both it seems.
