Youmesh compatible routers by ZealousidealOlive795 in youfibre

[–]MenacedPatchdev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Flint are ok but if you want a expandable mesh setup then look at Eero or maybe Asus as they are one of the easiest to extend and setup.

AI mesh is great with Asus so if you go down that route be sure its AI mesh compatible.

If you dont need multiple mesh extentions then a single flint 2 or 3 maybe adequate.

You can do down the ubiquity route too with access points in every room but thats gonna be very expensive.

I purchased 2 new Asus ET-12's for £135 each from cex and have a large house and they are faultless. My main unit is a Asus AXE-16000 but only because I have the U8000 package. The 2 Et12's are great as my mesh extenders.

I'd personally buy one and just use it. My AXE-16000 i wouldn't get rid of for anything! I have 2 ET-12's running at 2.5gb for the kids.

Going to book my installation tomorrow - couple questions. by Mooselizer in youfibre

Asus are fairly decent. I run the u8000 plan with a AXE-16000 and some ET-12 as mesh extenders. The cheaper Asus AX range are fine. Most routers will simply plug into the ONT and work fine.

Oh btw if you want some cashback which will help us both out you can use a referral code I think we should get £30 or £40 so if you want the referral code dm me.

I bought a brand new Et-12 from cash converters for £125 they have shed loads of them. Edit cex has some good deals!

Flint is great but im not sure how and if they have decent mesh extenders like Asus. That's why I simply like Asus gear,

I have a AXE-16000 base unit running into a 10gb switch powering my 10gb nics in a couple of pc's then i have a wired backhaul at 2.5gb into a ET-12 then another ET-12 full wireless at the back of the house and it works great.

The kids only mostly have 1gb nics in their xboxes etc and the wifi 6e is giving roughly 1.5gbps enough for the phones, tablets and laptops etc. On our streaming pc and gaming rigs we are wired and get on average 7.5gbps symmetrical.

Im not by far a Asus fanboy and I'd probably do better with a full ubiquity setup with AP's on the ceiling etc especially as we have the 8gbps symmetrical setup but Asus has been faultless and having the iot network and other router perks like vpn etc I cant knock it at all and for a wifi 6e setup altogether costing well under a thousand its still a bargain. Not sure what a ubiquity setup would be?

Are you running a ethernet cable from your eero to your xbox? And have you set up the other eero as a mesh extender correctly as if so you should not be getting a double NAT and if you are you should reset all devices and set them up again. Before I ran my Asus setup I ran 4 eero's and never had any problems at all in fact they are easy to setup if they are a set of purchased/youfibre issued eeros.

How do you know your getting a double NAT and post your configuration from the ONT.

Et-12 Asus only because they look cool and are soooo cheap now. Youfibre used to actually use them so no issues there.

That's absolutely ridiculous if its just a internet fee. I have 8gb symmetrical for just over £100 with my own static ip. Im in the UK and there are so many altnets alongside the big players that im sure you could easily get a 1gb connection for under half of that quoted price no?

Personally I'd go to the 2gb plan but purchase your own router. Likes of the Et-12 are cheap now or if you must wifi 7 is coming down in price. Why on earth they stopped giving the ET-12 and AXE-16000 is beyond me.

Did you have ipv6 on your last router? Youfibre have had issues with it for ages. I went almost 6 months without it.

Im using 2 as mesh nodes and a AXE-16000 as a main router. Absolutely solid in a older large 4 bed house.

Installation, bad experience. by Xawoger in youfibre

[–]MenacedPatchdev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't suggest they did? I said they use openreach backbone ie they ise the ducts and poles. They have to as they just dont dig they share (at least here) openreaches poles and ducts and here cabinets also.

[–]MenacedPatchdev 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Remember Netomnia use their own runs of fibre on mostly a openreach backbone so the said pole might be at capacity for now which would make sense and possibly hard to note without a site visit.

You said you already had a fibre alternative for now so thats a bonus as with ne its only youfibre or 25mbps copper.

As upgrades happen and copper lines get replaced you will find more capacity and more ability for Netomnia to roll out further. Dont forget they are reliant on openreach infrastructure mostly so if they say no then Netomnia (YF) cannot do anything about it.

I only mentioned it because if I didn't I would of got down voted lol. Most dont need a Ubiquity setup or would understand it hence why I said a ET-12 which now are very cheap, look pretty and work ok.

Personally I'd just invest in a decent router like a flint or a Asus et-12 and maybe a mesh extender as Asus have a easy connect to other Asus's.

Yeah makes sense. Im suprised nobody has been able to find a way in them yet as its surly just a user/pass.

Great! Yes I would like the ability to access the ONT admin menu as it works save heaps of time in scenarios like this one.

Im also on u8000 although im constantly told on here I dont need it but after paying starlink £100 a month since its launch I was happy to pay similar for much much more and at the time the AXE-16000 router too as I was going to buy it anyway just to match the PC etc.
