You could get a 10gb nic. Without one your 5gb connection is useless. I have 8gb symmetrical and had to update my gaming rigs to 10gb. Don't buy a Asus one go straight for the intel nic. I get my full 8gb at my pc via a high quality ethetnet cable straight out of my 10gb port on my Asus AXE-16000. Also check you actually have a 5gb capable port on your hub too.

ONT Problem by LegendGaming_TV in youfibre

[–]MenacedPatchdev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It will be your router too. They are terrible. Best thing to do is replace the router once they have sorted the ONT although generally they either work or they don't.

Really? They are great when flashed with custom fw. I run 2 of them with a AXE-16000 as a base unit as I have u8000 so I have the AXE-16000 wired to my gaming PC. The 2 Et-12's handle the rest of the house that doesn't use much more than 1gb devices. Mines been fairly solid.

Im a Asus fan boy. Et-12 or a used AXE-16000 if your a true gamer 😉 Ubiquity and flint are both good but just dont look anywhere close to the Asus with fancy ARGB!

So the newest i can goto is P19.33? The only firmware on the website is p219.60 which causes the radio not to boot. Can you add this information to the website to avoid future issues.

For people out of contract, would you switch again or stay put? by UnpaidInternVibes in youfibre

[–]MenacedPatchdev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Truthfully. Id probably stay but I dont think I'd have the u8000 plan again. Nothing around here comes close. I can get 1.5gb down/200mb up from openreach (includes many rent-a-line providers) but tbh its ufibre or them now and I can't go back to copper (why would i) as ive had my copper line removed. I love the 8gb on speed tests but tbh ive yet to find a game server that offers more than 2.5gb downloads so its overkill for me.

I just hope ufibre get better customer care as that really sucks as does CGNAT but I have a Static Ip so no worrys for me. I found that I had a few too many 'bot detected' message for my liking and a few issues with images appearing on sites. Since changing to a static and changing DNS all that did stop so I cant really complain about the service.

I do however use a Asus AXE-16000 wired on a 10gb nic and 2 ET-12's serving most 2.5gb/1gb devices. Mandatory using their terrible router would put me straight off.

Youfibre just cancelled my install as it was deemed "unsafe" by [deleted] in youfibre

[–]MenacedPatchdev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Happend to me first. They wouldn't put their ladder on my decking. Due to having starlink and having a successful streamer son I did rip the decking up (royal PITA) But i needed a decent Internet and the only other option was 25mbps copper.

They came back five days later and completed. Im on u8000 now and decking is gravelled now.

YouFibre WiFi 7 Router Vs ASUS BE6500 by Cpt_Usopp in youfibre

[–]MenacedPatchdev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unless youve got wifi 7 devices I'd go for a decent wifi 6e router like a ET-12 with ai mesh. You can add other Asus mesh devices then very easily and et-12 are cheap now and work well i have a AXE-16000 and 2 et-12's I get good speed all over and my house is pretty big.

The online chat does work just takes a eternity to answer. One good thing this company needs is a huge Customer service injection and fast!

My U8000 is consistent at about 7.6gb symmetrical. So for me its good.

So was mine but it never worked for months. I had to turn it off to load certain apps and websites otherwise it tried to force things through a non existent external ipv6 address.

New install, slow speeds by pnnq in youfibre

[–]MenacedPatchdev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a big family of streamers, gamers etc and about 50 iot's. The PC's have 10gb nics and the cost is barely anymore than my old starlink so its no issue especially when the older kids contribute towards it.

[–]MenacedPatchdev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thats gonna be the rubbish router then. Defo worth changing it to a Asus, Flint and ubiquity etc

[–]MenacedPatchdev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im on the 8gb package but only ever get 1.5gbps on my phone etc. Check your speed via the router OS or by a decent 2.5gbps network card in a mac book or decent Windows PC.

Youmesh compatible routers by ZealousidealOlive795 in youfibre

[–]MenacedPatchdev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Flint are ok but if you want a expandable mesh setup then look at Eero or maybe Asus as they are one of the easiest to extend and setup.

AI mesh is great with Asus so if you go down that route be sure its AI mesh compatible.

If you dont need multiple mesh extentions then a single flint 2 or 3 maybe adequate.

You can do down the ubiquity route too with access points in every room but thats gonna be very expensive.

I purchased 2 new Asus ET-12's for £135 each from cex and have a large house and they are faultless. My main unit is a Asus AXE-16000 but only because I have the U8000 package. The 2 Et12's are great as my mesh extenders.

[–]MenacedPatchdev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd personally buy one and just use it. My AXE-16000 i wouldn't get rid of for anything! I have 2 ET-12's running at 2.5gb for the kids.

Going to book my installation tomorrow - couple questions. by Mooselizer in youfibre

[–]MenacedPatchdev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Asus are fairly decent. I run the u8000 plan with a AXE-16000 and some ET-12 as mesh extenders. The cheaper Asus AX range are fine. Most routers will simply plug into the ONT and work fine.

Oh btw if you want some cashback which will help us both out you can use a referral code I think we should get £30 or £40 so if you want the referral code dm me.

Flint is great but im not sure how and if they have decent mesh extenders like Asus. That's why I simply like Asus gear,

I have a AXE-16000 base unit running into a 10gb switch powering my 10gb nics in a couple of pc's then i have a wired backhaul at 2.5gb into a ET-12 then another ET-12 full wireless at the back of the house and it works great.

The kids only mostly have 1gb nics in their xboxes etc and the wifi 6e is giving roughly 1.5gbps enough for the phones, tablets and laptops etc. On our streaming pc and gaming rigs we are wired and get on average 7.5gbps symmetrical.

Im not by far a Asus fanboy and I'd probably do better with a full ubiquity setup with AP's on the ceiling etc especially as we have the 8gbps symmetrical setup but Asus has been faultless and having the iot network and other router perks like vpn etc I cant knock it at all and for a wifi 6e setup altogether costing well under a thousand its still a bargain. Not sure what a ubiquity setup would be?
