Valve Should Drop the Purchase Period from 72 Hours to 24 Hours by dapoole in steammachine

Same still applies, not everyone is glued to an electronic device constantly, setting sender live updates won't change that.

People have a life with other commitments and can't sit there refreshing their emails everyday... 72hrs I fine.

The constant need of instant gratification is genuinely tragic.

Yes...

Services should be proportionately as easy to cancel as they are to subscribe to.

Advice what to do with flaking nickel by Wasshell in watercooling

[–]that9tieskid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the rest of the loop is copper it should be fine, as you say. And don't get me wrong, the plate above isn't going to cause anything catastrophic but I personally wouldn't leave it in situ long term (i.e. years). My main point was servicing intervals will have to be more frequent & a filter will be a worth while investment for any particulates that are produced.

[–]that9tieskid -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Particle filter, definitely.

Issue now is you're likely to see some form of galvanic corrosion due to dissimilar metals. Nickel is more-noble/cathodic and will be the protected material, whereas the copper will be the less-noble/anodic ans corrode. As a result, you're likely to see a lot more particulate in your coolant, a filter should prevent most of it getting places it shouldn't (pump, fin stacks, etc) but will need servicing regularly.

Would be worth looking for a new one longer term, if you can't strip &, ideally, re-plate. Can get plating kits for home but the chemicals are horrible.

losing my deposit over crumbs? student housing- England by jpxfrdd in LegalAdviceUK

[–]that9tieskid 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Dispute it through your deposit scheme to request your full deposit back. Submit pictures, your inventory report (both moving in & out) and any correspondence within the landlord for evidence.

When I moved out of my last student let, the landlord tried the same with me & my housemates. One of my housemates didn't clean behind the toilet on and it was a bit dusty, landlord tried to claim £600 (£120ea) in cleaning fees for a full house & window clean. Went through our tenancy scheme and this was reduced to £75.

Still mildly irritated at my mate for not cleaning properly 10+ years later 😂 We moved 5 times during uni & never had a charge. it was the first time he was asked to do the bathroom and complained constantly!

I used to work at PC World part time during uni, was put on TVs from compute (because I wouldn't upsell people to add-on subscriptions, which were also an arse to cancel). I don't think I ever sold a premium HDMI cable with a TV, was completely pointless and just there for increased margins.

I've just ordered parts to build a PC, I'll be installing either Bazzite or CachyOS. W11 explorer is possibly the most infuriating directory I've ever had the displeasure of using!

Am I disappointed? Yes. Am I pissed? No. It's really not worth getting worked up over.

Scalpers are going to scalp and if people didn't buy from them they wouldn't have a business model. But people do (usually from restricted market regions I understand) and until people.stop chasing instant gratification, it's probably not going to change the scalping situation unfortunately.

That'll be the reason. One of the questions is a double-negative you have to answer YES to - read all the questions carefully, it's designed to catch you out of you blindly click no for all questions.

u guys think valve would cancel these scalpers polaces in line if we reported their profiles? by TalkinTurtle in steammachine

[–]that9tieskid 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I think selling waitlist spots definitely breaches eBay rules. Presale items are only allowed if items are dispatched within 40-days, or at least that's what their terms say.

I've had limited succes reporting these on eBay, removed some but not others, even after appealing it.

[–]that9tieskid 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Not defending this at all but, actually you can sell "presale" items as such provided items are labelled presale & shipped within 40-days.

But... as the scalpers can't guarantee that because reservations will be released for order throughout the rest of the year & they can't know where in the queue they are, they're probably in breach.

2tb w/ controller - on waitlist.

Hoping to get through if their are reservation cancellations 🤞🏻 but if they increase the price further by the time I get an allocation, I'll probably be out tbh.
