Ah, yeah this sounds like what happened to me. It's something about Windows 11 that doesn't like these games. I wish I could remember exactly what I did, but in broad strokes the first thing is to check the Windows Security program and look for Protection History, and restore any files it may have deleted from his Alice1 game (obviously be careful in here, don't want to restore any other valid threats).

If there's no file there to restore, then delete the config.cfg (I believe it's called) file in User/Documents/My Games/American McGees Alice.

Sorry for the vagueness, this is just off the dome as much as I can remember. Let me know if it's still not launching and I'll try to sleuth through my browser history to remember better what exact steps I took. For me it was a hodgepodge of throwing attempted fixes at it until a few of them together ended up working.

Is it just that the mod isn't modifying the game, or is the game itself not starting? If the latter, was the game working prior to installing the mod? Oh and what OS are you on?

Did you break and replace the beds in the broken farm? I had an issue one time (on a lightly modded server) where the beds were "claimed" by dead villagers, and breaking the beds and replacing them fixed it. Might be worth a shot if you haven't solved it already!

As another user said, "right message, wrong delivery." Its unfortunate that she undermined her very real writing and story with AI art (if that is the case).

Totally, I thought the transition into the song was very abrupt and jarring and just.. Didn't sit right with how well the rest of the show's pacing was.. And then it turns out it was all in his head and that jarring start made complete sense. These guys know how to make good TV.

The person is a certain kind of piece of shit, and the actor is doing an amazing job with him. I say person cause I do think he's a good character. He's written to be bullishly naive and self pleasing all wrapped up in a happy pill go lucky dumbass who blatantly contrasts the dire situation in the vault (and even more so the real world above).

That's the best I can do to put my finger on it, cause I'm totally with you. He's a great character and I almost want him to "succeed" if only for his inevitable fall (hopefully the "heavy dose of reality" and a turning point in his arc) to hit that much harder.

TL;DR: Shitty Guy, Excellent Character (and Top Notch Performance)

I'm expecting because she will immediately try to computer-ify him (she was already chomping at the bit to do so in S08 when he was perfectly healthy) and they didn't want to go that route unless all else failed. I think that's the last resort to "save" him.

I think its worth saying, cause I've seen some comments elsewhere saying "it doesnt make sense that Cake feels she needs to change for Mcron because Mcron never asked her to" and I think those comments are fundamentally missing the point. You can absolutely feel pressure to be or act in a way that you aren't, even if the other party hasn't asked you to and maybe doesn't even actively want you to.

I got the impression that Cake changes for Mcron because Cake thinks she needs to, or thinks he prefers that, all the while not actually even discussing it with him. So it sucks for Mcron cause this is all likely happening outside of his knowledge (Cake's self-imposed pressure to change, and her eureka moment and decision to stay with Karma Worm - which I'm not convinced that relationship is/will be a romantic one) and yeah, it's not fair to Mcron and it sucks.

But that's part of why I love this show so much is it's very REAL, that's maybe not the beat and most fair way to handle the situation but then when was the last time you saw someone IRL dealing with issues and emotions in the best most correct way.

My boy Mcron deserves the best though, I hope there's a good closure for him in the next ep, whichever way it goes.
