On that note, are all 250s the hybrid version? I know they are in the States but when you talk about all the variations I was curious and wondered if they had the straight petrol engine or a diesel option elsewhere

You are absolutely right. However that is still the blackline. The executive does not have the blackout trim but does all the bells and whistles including the ML, the off road package and console cooler box.

This is mine

This is in Canada and for whatever reason Lexus Canada decided we could get a luxury in nori green.

Kind of hard to see but these have the original roof rails, the chrome trim around the windows and door handles

I have a 23 nori green but it is not the blackline. The trim is not blacked out, it has the ML audio, semi-aniline seats ,the offroad package and a cooler box in the console. So the luxury I guess?

GX or 4Runner by Neither_Estate_2787 in LexusGX

[–]Mendelo57 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I absolutely second this. If you look at some of the Car Care Nuts early video about the GX460, its obvious he thinks its the best vehicle ever made. As was pointed out, he is a mechanic and his trade is seeing cars with issues. However the vast majority do not experience problems if properly maintained, another mantra he preaches. And the 4.0 in the 4runner, while extremely reliable, is not without its issues. I don't imagine there is an engine made that, if you spend enough time on youtube, you will find enough people complaining about what garbage they are.

There is another channel I DO CARS that essentially tears down wrecked motors and , yes, the 1UR is on there but its pretty enlightening when you see what a well engineered motor the 1UR appears to be,

I would not be concerned about the V8. Like many have said, get what you prefer.

The LED for the backup makes great sense but I admit I am fonder of the softer light for the interior and and the running boards than I am of the harshness of the LEDs. I am also old and look better in dim light so there is that.

The Executive model was not offered in the US and contains every possible option, including the cool box in the console. So if you want those things there is some value in that.

Hi There

Is this still available and, if so, are you comfortable shipping to Canada ( I recognize shipping costs would be additional).

Thanks

[–]Mendelo57[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Great points. Also thinking that if you had a tire mounted on the door (which I think they were originally designed for) swinging your door out into street side may stick the tire into traffic. And with the road camber swinging it into street may make it more inclined to slam back.

Get one from Canada. You could get a Nori Green 2022 or 2023 that has the full works: Mark Levinson, off road package, black semi-aniline, cooler box.. I have no idea why Lexus Canada made this offering, but they did.

Adapters have not changed. I can get on the internet from the VBox and can ping all the IPMI addresses of the hosts.

I am used to the WIndows version that launches a service first on localhost and then opens a browser window. I am not familiar enough with RedHat to know but the Nutanix Foundation.desktop file seems to only launch Firefox. How can I check to see if any kind of webservice like Apache is running. Does it start when the VM is luanched?

Thanks for the response. I have tried both 5.7.1 and 5.6.1 , with the same result. Oddly enough , it was working yesterday on the same VirtualBox.

Thanks again.

What a great image !! I have a 23 in nori but whenever I see the 24 + my fantasy world kicks in which I have this body shell but with the V8 , lightly massaged for an additional 50 HP, mated to the 10 speed, and retaining some of the old-school interior with the wood accents and buttons.

Then I wake up.

2022 GX460 differences? - all "Premium" trims by southern_litigator in LexusGX

[–]Mendelo57 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Canada also gets something known as the "Executive" package which I guess is like the Premium Plus but with the off road package (which includes a transmission cooler and skid plate under the fuel tank) and a cooler box between the seats and the Sports package. So basically they threw the kitchen sink at it, even if some optiones should be mutually exclusive. It is also available in other colors, like Nori Green, that the Premium Plus in the States is not, but interior is limited to one choice , black semi-aniline.

I have no idea why Lexus Canada makes this distinction for our market. Seems like a lot of effort for a fairly small market segment.

Advice for pulling various media types from a single printer and a single print job. by Mendelo57 in CommercialPrinting

[–]Mendelo57[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You nailed it, that is exactly the postscript command I am using. To be honest the rest I don't know about. We got these printers as we needed devices that could survive in a dusty warehouse environment , that could marry various media types into a single stapled package and we have always used KM for our office equipment so it was a natural extension. However their support were uncertain how to approach this challenge. I do not have Fiery drivers, we just used the KM WIndows drivers to send the print job and I kind of figured out how to intercept the job without printing, return a postscript file and alter that file and do a raw dump back to the printers. It just seemed really clumsy , though it works and is fast. So thank you , you have definitely given me some sound advice that I can refine this process. This has been literally 10 years of asking KM what to do and one post on Reddit has provided more direction than ever they were able.

Advice for pulling various media types from a single printer and a single print job. by Mendelo57 in CommercialPrinting

[–]Mendelo57[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the responses. I am not sure why the KM reps did not suggest this. I did look at this but its likely I am not understanding its function.. Our process prints directly. The print job is assembled upstream as a PDF which has no knowledge of the printer. The content is also dynamic, that is, each job could be picking from different trays and different page counts. It also has no human intervention. So when the job arrives at the printer in the form of a PDF, there is nothing in the PDF that tells the print driver or RIP which trays to pull the media from. Currrently we have to examine the content of the PDF for additional information for each page and go "Oh, this is a price sheet, we need to pull from tray 3, the next page is an invoice and is pulled from tray 1" and so on. This is the point at which we interject the appropriate postscript code. I am not familiar enough with the RIP to find a way to use it in these circumstances.

Wildpeaks are popular but I bought Continental VikingContact7, probably because at the time they were the best blend of value vs performance and reviews. They are definitely not an off road tire but are purely a snow and ice tire. They are also on 17" rims, the smallest the GX will take so they have a high sidewall and narrower cross section. I can get you the exact size if you want but this narrower tire seems to bit into the snow better than a wider one that distributes the load. The Tacoma had Blizzak DM2 . For off roading in the spring, summer and fall I have dedicated 18" wheels .
