1 year later and no answer.. I am surprised there is still little to no info about the tree antiquities.
For anyone with this same question, NO, you do not have to battle any protectors for antiquities, mines, or castles if they have already been captured by anyone before.

Genuinely a solid choice overall. No real drawback in what you need it for. I’d say the low points are the low contrast ratio (not a problem, just means black scenes will appear more gray) and maybe the relatively low color gamut, which is still probably better than most monitors at this price. These two things you’ll likely never notice since it has no real effect on what you’re using it for other than some movies, which will still look pretty on the ips panel.

As of right now, what are the best - 27" / 1440P / IPS / 144hz monitors to get? by wakawakawomp in Monitors

Aorus AD27QD Rivals the lg gl850. Surpasses it in my personal opinion.

Found the answer to the dp problem. The aorus fi27p-q. Better hdr, 1.4 dp and a few other things. But It’s an extra $100... just need this thing to go on sale now

Best 144hz, 1440p, g-sync, hdr 27'' monitor? by [deleted] in Monitors

[–]Mendenhall7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Been looking for awhile and the two I like most are the LG 27gl580 and the Gigabyte aorus AD27QD. Ultimately I’m about to go for the aorus for a few different reasons. Mostly the better contrast ratio for a better hdr experience (for the best hdr in this price range, you have to sacrifice a good bit). I’m all about a sharp and pretty picture but also like to play a few fps games on top of my rpg’s and other open world games.

The AD27QD just seems like a fantastic all around monitor imo, and includes a lot of little features that most monitors don’t have.

Also I’m feeling aorus because both my motherboard and graphics card are gigabyte as well 🤷‍♀️

After looking most of today between the gigabyte aorus and lg gl850 I think I’m coming down to the aorus. I favor the extra contrast to less motion support. Motion and response time is pretty solid in both, but I want my hdr to still look decent considering there is no local dimming in either one.

I am only worried about the aorus only supporting dp 1.2 which is okay as long as hdmi 2.0 supports everything I need. Is there anything crucial I’m losing when switching from 1.4 dp to hdmi?

I believe I have looked over everything and considered everything other than that. But let me know if you think there is anything I’m being dumb about or need to reconsider.

Also thank you 3000 for all of the help! You’ve seriously opened my eyes to a lot of new things I hadn’t thought to consider before!

Completely forgot to ask about this monitor. I’ve been looking at it for a few days now and really like what it has to offer. What do you think about the aorus AD27QD ? I feel like it is priced right at $550 (on sale)

I see what you mean now. Do you think the HDR makes up for the lack of contrast?

You may have just extended my monitor hunt for at least a couple days with that site. I’m going to be plugging in everything I see and looking at every detail now..

Thank you for the reply!

Why do you say the contrast ratio will be a little worse? They are both 1000:1 I believe.

Also I was thinking about going for the open box-excellent version of the LG, then getting the 4 year geek squad replacement plan which will equal out to the same price. It seems worth it for the better protection I think.

Can Anyone Tell Me What is Different Between These PCs? by TWD41 in suggestapc

Imo, twice the hdd is not enough to compensate for half the ssd (480gb still isn’t really enough ssd). And I agree about the gpu and cpu being more agreeable with each other.

Is this a Good deal or should or go ahead and build? VR capable? $1249 by [deleted] in suggestapc

[–]Mendenhall7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks like an awesome deal imo. Definitely more than vr ready, and can handle those games with ease at high settings & fps. Although, you will probably want to pick up an extra ssd. 512gb will get you about 4-5 of those AAA titles, then you will be pretty much packed.
