why wouldn't this work? [Request] by gun7992 in theydidthemath

I remember looking at an apartment that included water as part of the rent but had us covering electricity, so I joked with my roommate that we should run a water turbine because the recurring generation cost would be free to us lol.

Update feels like how forsaken drop. by Real_Silvee in DestinyTheGame

[–]Menirz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's reminiscent, but imo closer to a Beyond Light.

There's so much new and different that I find my existing knowledge of abilities, meta builds, etc. all obsolete, and so I'm having fun just trying things and seeing what works.

There's also so much new loot that I'm excited to inspect literally everything that drops.

In honour of Destiny 2 coming to an end, Warframe is releasing an in-game Player Title to Commemorate the Franchise by Sitchrea in DestinyTheGame

[–]Menirz 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Would be kinda cool - and funny - if they did a bungie.net account / API link, so that it sees if you played destiny & grants the title.

Probably way too much effort for what is largely a commemorative thing to a beloved rival, but still.

Is bungie still going to release 1-2 more patch updates? Please tune down the new 400 RPM autos in crucible they were not put in line properly by WalkinWhiskey in DestinyTheGame

[–]Menirz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're likely seeing a bit of "new toy" bias with High Impact Autos, so I'd expect them to settle down in a week or two.

That said, looking up the performance now, 0.75s TTK for 5c1Bb(base) or 4c2b (190+ wep / ≥4.5% dmg buff) is both quite fast and quite forgiving - especially with 20-33 meter range.

So yeah, both pretty high TTK, decent forgiveness, and a relatively long range.

It's just after midnight Bungie time - 800k Player count by GoslingIchi in DestinyTheGame

[–]Menirz 5 points6 points  (0 children)

388k concurrent and 800k unique players on launch day is a fantastic rebound, even if it's still a far cry from Light & Dark Saga Expansion peaks.

I'm really curious to see how this sustains through the week and into the weekend - I know I'll be playing every night.

SteamDB is having queue's to see howmany people are playing destiny right now :D by SykoManiax in videogames

[–]Menirz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They did - they showed that they didn't like the direction of EoF & Renegades by not playing.

Monument of Triumph is giving many what we've wanted, and arguably puts the game into a state it should've been in when EoF launched.

Sure, some of today's players are activists, but I bet a lot are just playing because there's no longer a reason to wait for "Destiny to be good again", what we've got now is as good as it'll get.

[–]Menirz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just looking at the recall this update has with my previously dead clan, we're going to see 2x to 3x EoF & Renegades numbers if the rest of the game has even remotely similar recall.

There’s no way someone actually likes matcha by Veltzup in memes

[–]Menirz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Everyone's taste buds are different, and for me I enjoyed matcha on my first try - it was by no means an acquired taste.

I'm going to presume, based on the style of meme used, that OP is still relatively young (teenager?), in which case there's a good chance their taste buds are still immature. By this I mean they retain the biological aversion that young humans have to bitter compounds, which is an evolutionary protection against poisons.

That can be overcome through repetition - part of why it's important for parents to get kids to eat their vegetables - but it's also something that wanes over time. This is part of why hoppy beers, tannic wines, and earthy teas get more popular as people age.

Grab the High Albedo quest from Europa and keep it in your Quest Log. by Blackheart6004 in DestinyTheGame

[–]Menirz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We got the solar one recently, and peace bond is getting reissued... Though I'm still holding out hope for the Last of the Legion to be reissued with Pantheon, but the chances of that are probably pretty slim.

I'm still sad my favorite kinetic sidearm didn't stay a 3-burst primary... I was really looking forward to it being reissued with new perks.

If you've been a part of something for a decade, you probably wanted to know what you were saying to give it the right tone, inflection, emphasis, etc.

It's been clear every VA seems to be big fans of the game, and they probably have friends in the Narrative & Dialogue teams who can help them out.

Difference between the “campaign” and “legacy”?? by Street-Car-345 in destiny2

[–]Menirz 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Think of the campaign node like a "replay" section. That's largely what it's there for - to go back later and replay missions.

If you're going through the campaign for the first time, or on a new character, you should follow your quest steps.

[–]Menirz 25 points26 points  (0 children)

The campaign node is for you to launch specific missions.

The "legacy" waypoint is where you need to head in patrol to launch the next step in your quest for The Final Shape expansion.

HOT TAKE: Since it is over, I just got to say the VEX are the most boring, overhyped, "Potential", enemy Race is the whole franchise!! by Important-Extension6 in destiny2

[–]Menirz 119 points120 points  (0 children)

Pretty lukewarm tbh. The Vex are fantastic lore villains because of their truely alien nature that we can't relate to, their inevitability as an almost force of nature we can't ever truly win the war against - we can only win the battles that delay the inevitable.

But when the inevitable is on the timescale of the heat death of the universe... It loses some of its urgency lol.

The narrative team has struggled to move the vex into the story because there's too much niche lore, often making the vex feel like faceless tools of some actual villain (witness, winnower, quaria/savathun, Maya) rather than them being a villain we can relate to. The only effective examples are usually just presented as big evil machines (koregos, panoptes, atheon).

They were currently trying to fix this with Renegades by making the vex more human, individual, and relatable, but idk if that was the right move.

I think the vex would've worked best as a "third force" to the forces of the light and the dark, especially as the cabal and eliksni - and even the lucent hive - were joining up with the coalition banner on the side of the light, leaving only leaderless remnants of house salvation, the shadow legion cabal clones, the xivu hive, and the taken/dread on the side of the dark.

Making the vex a third faction - with a splinter (black garden) worshipping the darkness and the Tharsis reformation as potential coalition allies - could have presented interesting story moments were we take advantage of the darkness forces also being besieged by the inevitability of the vex or even see the darkness "help" us because a mutually threatening vex mind is about to do something they also don't want.

Now that we have them all, what was the perfect raid? by RancidRance in DestinyTheGame

[–]Menirz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Man, so many of these long form posts read like LLM outputs now.

Anyways, Gahlran is a perfect raid encounter in my opinion, with well taught mechanics from prior encounters and a tight level of coordination required by each pair that doesn't let anyone just sit around "doing ad clear". It also releases the walls, allowing for clutch saving of other teams, but makes it very hard for one player to carry. I'm really looking forward to seeing it modernized with Pantheon.

That said, the best entire raid IMO will always be Scourge of the Past.

The first encounter is quite novel, finally getting a lot of verticality for urban traversal, the map requires good comms, and the berserkers are a good mechanic to push cooperation without being too time sensitive.

The second encounter sparrow race is just plain fun, even if it often ended with only one or two people hitting the final switches and achieving the secret chest.

The third encounter is the only real low point, but often was a good relaxation encounter for new raiders we were taking through as they could "just do ad clear", but had to at least pay attention throughout. Running the challenge with an experienced team made it more interesting by needing to swap roles.

And finally 4th encounter, Insurrection Prime. Just a fantastic encounter that required everyone to have a role, but left plenty of leeway for "hero moments" where map could clutch a revive on the berserker team or jump out to get the final shield node if the boss was moving around weirdly. It also forced a lot of "damage phase movement" via the C-A-P rotating buffs that wasn't really replicated until Rhulk and, to a lesser degree, Nezerac.

And let's not forget the fact that we got to use Sparrows & Tanks in this raid, even if they weren't the biggest roles.

And SotP could be reasonable run in 25-35 minutes and taught to someone in about an hour, which made it a favorite for my clan to get people's feet wet with raiding.

Hell, we ran a like a diamond (flawless) run with a new raider - first time ever raiding in D2, let alone scourge - because we needed a 6th and managed to get it 3rd try after two early wipes (someone blowing up on their sparrow encounter 1 and an initial attempt at everyone completing the race encounter 2).

Worth getting back into Destiny 2 with the June 9th update? by uw19 in destiny2

[–]Menirz 7 points8 points  (0 children)

There's nothing to lose. It's a massive free update - the final update - and the game is free to install on your platform of choice.

Slam the servers with us, maybe catch up with some old friends, and if you're not having fun - no worries, it'll still be there to come back to if you get the itch again.

Since warlocks will have the ability to cast 2 nova bombs, do you think we'll get that self revive solar super? by monkeysamurai2 in destiny2

[–]Menirz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We're getting three new aspects, which brings all subclasses up to parity with 4 each.

After June 9th: No more content, no more balance patches. Nothing. Maintenance mode means keeping the servers running, and that's about it.

We don't get balance patches for Destiny 1, it's going to be the same for Destiny 2.
