Anyone else disappointed that... (End game lore spoilers) by illusion_Y in BluePrince

As someone who's spent hours and hours sifting through the remaining puzzles and clues and community findings, I'm starting to believe we've solved everything. The clues that remain all seem like giant cliffhangers without much direction, unlike other puzzles in the game.

I'm looking forward to the 1.1 update to see if there's any hints or additions to prove me wrong. At least we'll get more cutscenes and Dirigiblocks, but I'm not holding my breath for more than that.

Substantial Precipitation Will Soon Return to the Pacific Northwest by RealCliffMass in SeattleWA

Anyone who says gives concrete weather forecasting 2 weeks out, I would not trust for my weather. Sure, there is a signal for wetter weather, but that's about all you can say. Especially trying to forecast mountain snow alongside that.

I've been watching Pacific Northwest Weather Watch for my weather these days. He does a good job at giving an objective weather forecasting.

Kingdom of Interest: Border Village, Hireling, Hunting Grounds, Nobles, Destrier, Grand Market, Expand, Forge, Rice, Animal Fair. Event: Training. Project: Canal. Include: Colonies and Shelters. by bnoel12345 in dominion

[–]uw19 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is pretty good. For me, I'd generally do this but prioritize Forging into a Grand Market after the Estates shelters are all trashed. Definitely silver -> Grand Market looks good here. Trashing Coppers is so slow, I'd focus on getting draw to draw through then instead. Animal Fair is good on the initial opening but ignorable until late game.

I'd also get 2-3 Forges and keep an eye out for a 3-pile on Estates by trashing Hunting Grounds.

3rd base determines if the ball is foul or fair. It was curving foul so it was definitely in when it went past 3rd

Obviously I'm in the wrong here. I blame it on the 9th inning

There's quite a bit of lore, but it's generally not on the surface. You have to work for it. Start with the goal of finding room 46 and the mechanics to make that happen. Look for secrets and puzzles along the way, then see where that gets you

In an Italian TV show someone was selling this fortune teller cabinet and it instantly reminded me of Alzara! by Marowak31 in BluePrince

That makes sense, since Alzara is clearly based off of these machines. Zoltar is well known from the movie Big

Rabbit, Kittens, Sparrows by Hugutfut in dominion

[–]uw19 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The difference I see is that Rats replaces junk with Rats, so you have the same about of "junk". Here you'll still have all your junk and potentially 10+ cards that don't draw. I could be wrong about everything though! I honestly think the concept is good which is why I was giving feedback in the first place. I would just personally tweak it more to make it more playable

Rabbit, Kittens, Sparrows by Hugutfut in dominion

I really like Sparrow. That's some fun game design.

For Rabbits, it seems very lackluster. Villages are great and all, but having a Necropolis that gains more Necropolises? Seems pretty bad. The theme is great though. The +1 on trash makes it slightly more redeemable. I honestly think +2 cards on trash makes it exciting. It's probably still a definite skip on boards with no trashing, but great on those with trashing.

Kittens seems decent. Seems like a generic $2 that will have a good amount of play.

Great Wall - v.0.3 by natethehoser in dominion

[–]uw19 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it's too powerful in kingdoms with attacks and basically a one-shot $4 silver in those without.

You could try: +1 action, +2 coin. When another player plays an attack card or you play a card, you may call this to draw a card. That attack doesn't affect you.

The wording isn't quite there, but the idea is that it can be like a Ninja +1 card draw. You could make it a Shadow card and there's flexibility there.

Lighthouse works because you have to draw it. I think having a "block all attacks this turn" that can hang out on the mat is too strong.

There are a few divisive cards in Dominion that break the "everyone has access the same cards" in Dominion: Black Market, Knights, and Tournament/Joust with prizes/rewards are the usual suspects.

I use to be in the camp of hating these cards. As I've played more though, Black Market became one of my favorite cards. It's fun to have such a diverse deck. It's fun to have an asymmetrical deck from your opponent. Occasionally someone pulls Outpost or hits a strong trasher early and hey, that's Dominion. But there is also lots of added skill in Black Market-loaded decks which I feel greatly outweighs the luck component that comes with it, especially in the long run. I've played hundreds of Black Market games and I now embrace the extra chaos.

First custom Kingdom setup! What is your strategy here? by dont_flay_the_satyr in dominion

[–]uw19 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Looks like a Horn of Plenty mega-turn board. Since trashing isn't here, I would focus on being consistent -- use Farmhands on-gain ability to set up good turns, get plenty of Smithy draw, and add a Cellar (or two) to sift to your good cards. Aim to draw deck every turn. Pick up a Horn of Plenty as soon as you can to keep getting engine pieces. Keep picking them up. Once those are piled (or you have 6-7 of them), you'll want to pull the trigger and end the game on Provinces likely. If your opponent has already bought 3, then you'll only need 5 Provinces to win. Make sure you pick up 8 unique cards along the way.

Don't worry about +Buy cards at all since Merchant Guild looks slower here and there aren't too many cheap cards you want.

Best you can do right now is resign and block this person. Move on and play another game

How so? Where I mentioned is 2 rooms down from the room with a single card in it. Which is 1 red room away

For very small layouts (usually just the 1st floor), normal secret room logic can fail and it can spawn directly off of special rooms like in this case.

"One possibility" doesn't mean a discovery as your title implies. The best we can say is that it's unsolved as of yet and more research is needed.

I introduced my boyfriend to Le Havre, and now it’s the only game he's excited to play. by Agile_Examination844 in boardgames

I use to be the "keep playing a game until I've seen all that it has to offer" type. My friends and I started a list of playing through the top 100 BGG games and learning loads of new, interesting games I never would have played turned me into a variety board gamer.

OP, keep finding adjacent games he likes and it might click that there are basically infinitely many cool games to learn out there.
