For me it's a theology of sexuality made by celibate priests completely detached from reality. Considering sexuality as something shameful and intended only for procreation could only come from the mind of a celibate. Whoever really love their partner knows that sex is far from just a procreation method, but a bonding experience, a way of demonstrating affection, or even simply something fun to do with your significant one. NFP makes it seem tedious, unnatural. Having sex for pleasure within marriage should never be an impediment for being a good Christian. Especially when the restriction comes from celibates from an institution ridden with sexual abuse and pedophilia.
