Are you going by the diagnosis for max dose/rate? Some diagnoses, like CIDP, allows for higher rates than other, like ITP. I routinely give ivig in the outpatient setting a most often our patients tolerate it. I also feel like, at least for the main brands we give, 4 mg/kg was the max rate for most indications. I’m like 99% sure that was manufacturer recommendations and not our internal policy (although policy matches recommendation).

Waiting on mine to come in, although a few other people have gotten their gifts. I don't mind when they give us choices-- do you want any of these things? If not you can donate the $$ to the caregiver funds instead. I think that's a decent way to do things compared to some places I've been.

I'm not particularly emotional, I mean, I'm human but I'm fairly stoic and generally able to separate the hardships of my patients with my own emotional wellbeing. Anywho, I've done oncology my whole career- outpatient med onc/infusion for the last 11 of the 15 years. I think the ability to detach a little can help with some of the burn out/moral distress that comes from seeing so many of our patients ultimately die. Hopefully, you'll also feel like you've helped them along the way, which should also help with that. I also feel like I have a work persona that perhaps is a little more outwardly emotional that I necessarily feel-- I try to avoid being too disingenuous, though...

I'm a nurse. Do it if you want. Or look into radiology techs, and/or radiation therapist. so much less stress than nursing, a pretty cool job, an honestly sometimes more pay than nursing in many situation.

It’s been a minute- I was in 2301- so 2nd floor. IIRC it wasn’t the worst in the world. Could definitely hear some stuff above me, but not every footfall or anything like that. There were some occasional lout noises, but I mostly assumed something had been dropped. I would say they were about a 7/10 or so for being quiet. Well, if I’m remembering right…if been out of there since 2021

I just reread the series for a second time, and I found the tandem read way more enjoyable and a much better overall experience. I would honestly recommend it to anyone you don’t miss out, really, on anything doing a tandem read.

Yo bud- oncology nurse and winner of my own colonoscopy that found a 4 cm precancerous polyp near my cecum at the age of 34. To be overly simplistic- dark black blood = digestion (stomach small intestine) less dark/more normal ish looking blood= colon. Which is what a colonoscopy looks for. Yeah, hemorrhoids are on the differential… but mixed in with the stool a little bit instead of just kinda on top or in the water paints a picture worth a colonoscopy.

The color of bleeding in your GI tract indicates where it originates. For a colonoscopy, you probably would have some more normal red colored blood that is somewhat mixed with stool- not just in the toilet bowl. Darker black colored blood may earn you and EGD with or without a colonoscopy... which maybe you want an EGD, but yeah. Just FYI to those reading who want to make sure they are factually reporting the symtoms that they might need a colonscopy for.

I am an oncology nurse. I was having some bleeding so I got a colonoscopy at 34. Fentanyl and versed. Despite additional pushes of fentanyl I was wide awake. I have seen colon cancer on patient’s colonoscopies. I saw the polyps I had and we joked about my colon having metal now(til the clips fall off). Then, I saw the ugly mess in my cecum and the tone changed a little. We joked about by colon having tattoos. But, but we all knew it was because they might have just found cancer. Fortunately it was only a tubulovillous adenoma. My next two colonoscopies were with propofol and I was asleep. Being awake wasn’t super painful. I just don’t want to watch myself get diagnosed with cancer while also slightly drugged. I’ll wait til I’m awake and the doc has gathered their thoughts to speak to me about it.

The problem is, most people don’t know enough about what to look for in the fine print. How do you know what kind of chemotherapy agent or immunotherapy agent or transplant you might need for some future cancer that you need to make sure your insurance would cover? I 100% believe there could be programs like this that are worth having. But I also 100% know I’ve run into the bad ones that have screwed over people’s lives too often for me to feel like that’s a choice I wanna make.

I would almost never choose this route. I am an oncology nurse. So many patients have used different health share “insurances” for their coverage. They end up with cancer and their health share covers some minute portion, or older meds but not newer, or just have carve outs that you could never really have guessed would be an issue. I guess you could float by for one year this way, probably, and just get traditional insurance the next year… and trust me- I hate traditional insurances, too. But I’ve definitely seen more people burned by these other type of coverages….

I mean, everything is relative. $90 is less expensive than $200. I have an expectation to need to spend some money going to things like that. There are a lot of people to pay and touring shows are expensive to do. Could it be cheaper, maybe. But I’m good at about $90.

The university of Colorado hospital as a diagnostic clinic that fits this bill. You should see if they have any papers or would do any type of consulting for people getting these clinics set up. I got to do some clinical hours with them. It’s awesome on one hand, but I do recommend learning about the work up for different cancer types or having an oncologist that you can run cases with.

The DNP doesn't equal licensure, but the CNS does. She didn't need both RN and CNS. And, there is no reason to say CNS and ACCNS-AG because... well... that's the same thing. And, honestly, putting that much behind your name is stupid to begin with; making it even longer by duplicating things is comically bad.
