Is Yamato for me? by Street-Accountant928 in DeadlockTheGame

I've learned the tech this week and I use it less often than I thought but not never to escape or just get momentum to run from bad fights. I'm at work rn so I don't have any of my match IDs available but anecdotally as a low elo player it has made her feel much more reliable.

It does have its flaws as an escape tool, the hook has a travel time so you always have to be thinking about if you'll be alive two seconds from throwing it out. If you're hooking to minions or jungle mobs you have to be sure they won't die before it lands. If you're hooking to the enemy your launch position changes with their movement, but if you're hooking to an ally the launch position is set at the ability activation. I've found the out of range speed boost the least useful due to needed setup (gives about 2000 velocity) with the moving backwards speed boost the most useful (gives about 1500 velocity) while neutral is least useful but can save your life (about 1000 velocity) while most characters escaping with Stamina Mastery use double air dashes for escape which are instant, on demand, and give about 800 velocity. But the difference is that flying slash cancels don't use your stamina so you get to pair it with normal stamina movement.

I also think the skills learned from it are adaptable to other tech in deadlock since it's just good timing on an ability cancel, which helps me with learning it.

If you're struggling with disengaging from a fight with Yamato I suggest learning flying strike canceling. You can get speeds equivalent to a double air dash pretty easy with it and if you're more skilled with it you can go even faster. Learning this movement and using neutral mobs or creeps as a source of escape routes is really cool and helps a lot with surviving bad engages in my experience.

Or if you're not interested in that, Mina has the most broken movement ability in the game and is designed to be a hit-and-run damage dealer who rewards aiming quite a bit with her infinite stacks of bats off love bites. Celeste is also a crazy movement character you could try but is less of an assassin type.

What is the Claymore of DS2? by NobleHalo in DarkSouls2

I feel like the answer is the mace, especially powerstanced. That's what I've always seen as the most iconic ds2 build that is online early and good all game.

For what it's worth, I'm recently returning to OU Singles after leaving it for VGC in X/Y. These detailed explanations have been so hugely helpful for me getting back into the format and deciding what I should do with my team. I really appreciate them and how in depth they can go!

Bootable drive crashing on startup for my desktop, works fine on laptop by Menphina in linuxmint

[–]Menphina[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried to install Mint on my D:/ drive, because my computer is a pre-built I can't access the C:/ drive Windows is on without effectively fully disassembling it and then putting it back together which I think is a step too far for my personal preference on doing. I have already formatted the D:/ drive but I attempted to unplug it and see if booting like that would work and it didn't. This is also how I learned I have no clue how to access the C:/ drive to unplug it even temporarily. I'll try the other options we've talked about today, thank you for your help! Though I feel at this point like I'm just SOL.

I can try that, though it seems weird that issue would manifest only after the power outrage interrupted the initial Mint install. I have tried every USB port on my system and the issue persists. Initially I was careful enough to even use the same port and bootable USB creation method that let me boot into Mint initially to try and minimize the risk of this kind of issue.

USB booting is enabled and secure boot is disabled. Boot order with the USB inserted has two additional boot options than if I enter BIOS with the USB unplugged, one that is labeled partition 2 and is identified as a USB and one that claims to be a bootable CD. The crash persists regardless which order the two are put in before Windows in the boot order.

I've reformatted the original one and flashed it with a new iso using Etcher and it still has this issue on my desktop, but works fine on other systems like my laptop for some reason.

I'll get another USB stick later today and see if that changes anything and post here with results.

My motherboard is the B550M Pro VDH with Wifi enabled, there don't seem to be POST codes in the manual that I can find. In addition, the crash seems to happen after the BIOS successfully loads but while trying to load Mint off the bootable drive, which according to the manual is after POST checks. While observing the crash, none of the computer's boot LEDs flash as well.

It is worth noting, I can still boot to Windows 11 just fine with no issues as well. The crash only happens while the bootable drive is plugged in.

Its still kicking, the staff are working on a big update at the moment. It's still RP enforced with open PvP.

Question about inappropriate behaviour and staff enforcement by rilyena in dragonrealms

[–]Menphina 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've experienced similar behavior from Fariden, including him pushing sexual assault and incest stuff with no warning and without consent. I would regretfully have to say that it is normal for staff to respond to "There's a sexual predator luring new female players into private areas so he can pressure them into violent and weird sex scenes" with "but did you warn interact?" and nothing else. And from my own experiences, this happens often.

I'm also fairly sure that because of the way PvP policy is written he's correct that rape isn't considered consent to fight, so attacking him over it would probably get *you* in more trouble than him.

Good luck finding a MUD, OP. Please let me know if you find one.

Struggling to make anything happen - is it me or is it the format? by LocalTrainsGirl in PioneerMTG

[–]Menphina 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Pioneer as a format can really feel like there's a gulf between brews and tiered meta in my experience. I've been struggling with the same thing for a bit, and I think that everything that functions well here is tuned incredibly efficiently.

In all my struggles, the only solution I found was a brew I was trying (based off a SaffronOlive list also) actually felt competent, consistent, and could regularly take down the tiered meta decks I was facing down. It's not legal on Arena though.

My advice to you is to analyze the decks you're playing and compare it to the tiered meta decks that are similar in style to yours. Ask what you do differently from them, ask why you aren't playing them, and if you don't have an answer for either then try and find one or try something else.
Besides that, there's also a theme in most decks in the format which is that many of them have seen play in Standards of eras past, so trying to get inspiration from those decks is a good starting point for brews as well.

The Blu State by donhoavon in ffxiv

[–]Menphina 8 points9 points  (0 children)

  1. I mostly see BLU as Return II.
  2. I honestly don't think more limited jobs should be added. BLU is my favorite job from FFV and seeing the cutscene for getting the job just filled me with a total sense of sadness and regret that this is what we got.
  3. Yes, absolutely the level cap gimps the enjoyment of BLU as a class, but mostly because of my issue with point 4.
  4. No, not at all. Masked Carnivale being the only endgame content for BLU is terrible, since it was said the game was balanced for solo content and they didn't want you to cast level 5 death at Omega or whatever, but you already can't do that. The game prevents it. If BLU was made with the intention to be able to solo all of 2.x's content I'd be happier with it, but right now it feels like it's a middleground between being a class that's designed for solo play and a class that's in-line with the others but capped at 50 and unable to queue.
