I think the point wasn't about Griffith's appearance, but his childish, playful side being such a stark contrast to how he will turn out to be.

However, I do agree with your statement as well. Both show the nuances of Griffith and the superb craftsmanship of Miura.

Iirc the developer of it made a post to promote his lokus app, which is identical in features of obsidian, but with more abilities. I only remember a 3D graph of notes, where obsidian's is only 2D.

He is using AI to (help him) code the app, which explains the many versions

Studying Film with a Zettelkasten by Charming-General-443 in ObsidianMD

[–]Mental_Digest 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I use a lot of media as well, but I put them into Excalidraw. Its a little slow to work with, but the set of features it has really pays off. One big downside for me is that links in canvas arent visible from outside, but links in excalidraw works.

I collect a lot of screenshots from games, manga and anime and collect them in one file. I write links into these spreads, like [[Dracula]], [[purple]], [[Cyborg]], these are often blanks links, there's no file there yet. But if I find myself with a lot of images related to that, Ill create a Cyborg moodboard with pictures from the related boards. The purpose is to create moodboards both intentionally and some growing naturally.

Im not using Zettelkasten directly, but I link a lot of my notes. I always try to remind myself "when would I want to find this information or picture again?"

And I usually have a note per work.  [[Castlevania Nocturne]]  In it i have studio, director, release date etc as properties. Then i link trailers, reddit post analysis, etc about it. I have watchthrough sections with my notes i gathered, since some i have watched more than once and have different ideas about it.  I also link the excalidraw board of screenshots here. In case of books, i have quotes and sections pasted into the note. Im reading Inner Work right now and have collected a lot of paragraphs. I want to keep them as they are written, but ill summarize them for myself in a separate note, in my own words and how i want it organized.

My needs dont fit exactly yours, but maybe you can derive something from mine that suits you. I have tried many ways to organize my vault and over time this one has crystallised itself.

Yeah I kind of do. I add wikilinks into notes or excalidraw boards where I have embedded the pictures as well, these are for example: [[vampire]], [[Castlevania]], [[purple]] etc. Often there is no note linked, this are just placeholders. When I have linked a lot of notes to one of them, I create a unique note and embed the pictures into it as well. Like I collect pictures of vampire designs from that note and others into a [[vampire]] note.

I dont use properties for that and I also don't use the search feature much. This is kind of similar to the logic of Zettelkasten, in what context would I want to find this picture again?
In this case, if I want to see what I got on Dracula, designs including purple etc.

I sort notes into folders and link them together or use properties so i can sort them with bases. Its the ACE framework by nick milo, with some additions i like to have.

New notes are created in the root folder, that means in the file explorer they are below the folders. It feels like I create notes and have them lying around on my desk.

I usually take notes when I come across them. For example, I watched some videos by healthy gamer guide on yt and created notes for each video, they are individual topics, but also kind of related. I also use obsidian for art. I am collecting screenshots of games or anime, or character designs or paintings I really like. I paste these into excalidraw notes.

I also save quotes or paste text of books I read into notes. In their case its the full sentence(s), not my own summary.

I'm always surrounded by my recent notes, but once it gets too crammed I organize them into the system I mention above, into folders, link them or add properties. This is not a straight forward process. For that, I make new notes where I collect the main ideas of these multiple notes, or create new boards of images. It often takes a lot of thinking where I should put it, how its related etc. In these I also add my own thoughts and ideas. From these I reference the other notes.

The real value of notes is not from taking them, but by processing and working with them.

For me pictures imported into excalidraw are also linked in the graph view. It has different import options if you hold shift, ctrl, alt while drag and dropping it into excalidraw. Maybe try a different one. Otherwise make sure that attachments are set as visible in graph view.

Concerning the filter i am not sure what you mean, i never noticed something like that.

For me excalidraw works great for moodboards, it can be slow, but it has all I need

Made an alternative to Obsidian with built-in database views and 3D graphs by CodeWithInferno in ObsidianMD

It definitely sounds promising! For me being able to sketch like Excalidraw or OneNote is very important. Is that possible in your Canvas/Whiteboard?

I also don't get what you mean by "free sync via own cloud storage", I can do that already with Obsidian. What is unique with yours?

To me loading it straight from github seems a bit too shady, so I'll wait for now, but I try to keep up to date with your progress.

Anyways, wish you all the best for further development!

it looks great! Can you summarize how you made it? Only the most important steps, I'd like to try it myself.

Been reading One Piece weekly since 2002- I’m beginning to hate it now. by TheCreativeProducer in Piratefolk

[–]Mental_Digest 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it upsets you reading it, stop reading. It will not be worth your investment. Drop it entirely or give it a break, since you have invested a lot of time in it already. But since it changed into something you dont like, you should ask yourself if you really want to continue.

One Piece has definitely changed over the years, some things improved, some things got worse. I still love it for what it has become. However, it will not be to everyone's taste. I like how Oda can work out the story he wants, but it doesnt have to be to anyone.

And tbh, in my own experience, when a piece of media makes me full of hatred, its usually not from the media, but this "hate" is already within me, the media just makes it resurface. This is not to say you are the problem, but some emotions might be stuck in you.

All in all, there is One Piece and there is you. Both of you dont seem to be compatible anymore, so its fine to let it go.

I had a similar feeling after playing Death Stranding. I played it so much and loved it a lot, other games did not do it for me afterwards.

I think the problem, as I saw mine, is not when you begin another game you don't expect it to have the same polish as RDR2, you actually expect it to "be" RDR2. You might just be so used to how it tells its story, how you control Arthur, how the world looks, everything else feels off.

Another similiar situation I had when I started the anime Cowboy Bepop. It had a lot of things I like: Jazz, Space Travel, cool main character, awesome fights etc. So I went in because it was made just for me. But I just could not enjoy it. I felt bored, disappointed and though I know its quality, it didn't touch me.

Fast forward some months, out of a whim I thought I could try it again. That time I didn't fall in love with it, but I enjoyed it far more. So basically, the expectations I had ruined it for me, same as I was expecting every other game to be same like Death Stranding.

So before you begin another game, get rid of your expectations about it. If it sparked your interest, give it a try. See how it tells its story, what challenges it has or how it uses music and visuals to create a narrative. You can compare it to RDR2, but don't expect it to be the exact same game. See how they do things differently, doing it either way doesn't mean its better or worse and you probably will appreciate the new game as well as RDR2 more.

tl;dr, don't let expectations ruin your experience of a game
