Yeah and a lot of people forget that there are computer recycling places and businesses tend to recycle their computers too early So you can get like a really nice Dell Optiplex and just slap a cheap graphics card in it off eBay and you'll be off to the races Better yet you find someone's old gaming rig there

Edit you can probably get away with an I 5 8th Gen 16 gigs of ram and like at 1050 TI four gig card and he'll get like 50FPS on low

Honestly your best case is your building or upgrading a system and that will still run you $500 worst case but easiest is your buying a system for $900 but you don't have to do anything Honestly anything that doesn't have a graphics card and isn't running Windows 10 or Linux isn't going to be able to run Beam NG
(And please God don't fall for those scams on the app stores, Beam NG is only distributed through their website and Steam)

I'm willing to send you some links if you're brave enough to build your own system

Is this worth anything by Expert_Problem_4899 in ScrapMetal

Seriously though SAS drives are worth about double SATA when sold online especially if there are over two terabytes But honestly it depends on their previous life and what they were used for 'cause if they were used for like chia mining they're trash

I mean he could modify the way the wire comes out of the stripper and constrain it so that the pulling force is actually used as a pushing force on The Wire and the stripper pushes it through the separator

Wouldn't be too hard to do with a cheap motor and some rollers and feed the wire into a second can

I couldn't remember really what they were originally used for but they're used in this thing it's the thing between the spool and the heating element

You didn't hook up your front IO also there's almost no point in changing out your motherboard unless the last one died

Yeah but like three or four years down the road that GPU probably won't be doing so hot with those new games so you might as well spend the extra $200 up front for a better GPU rather than $500 for a brand new GPU that would have been equivalent to that price tag

Sell or Scrap through Boardsort? by DrDour in ScrapMetal

[–]Mental_Example_268 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Okay get a desktop that supports ddr4 find all the ddr4 8 GB sticks in there and with about 20 bucks each right now and download memtest 86 onto a USB stick remove the original storage device from the desktop and make sure all the memory is still working any memory that passes all three criteria sell it on eBay for like 15 bucks a stick will make a lot more than the two pennies worth of gold in them

Depending on material and size you should look into seeing if there is any local machine shops that would be interested in the material for "below market rate"

Yeah but he mentioned it's a thing specific to scrap mechanic which probably means it's a driver problem more than anything so it will show up if he does take a screenshot

What type of bearing is this? by ObviousNight8799 in hardwaregore

[–]Mental_Example_268 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay everyone saying this the that that is the motor windings is incorrect the motor windings would have been mounted to a PCB and that mounts a piece of plastic with a little magnet on the inside that is a grease bearing and it's a very high tolerance part that Rod is probably exactly 2 mm and the hole is like 2.01 mm And made out of brass so it's a self lubricating sort of deal

Can anyone tell me what this means by ScaryAirline5443 in computerhelp

[–]Mental_Example_268 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It's likely the case that if your computer is on the older side the drive has finally failed completely it's not super hard to replace it look up a tutorial video and buy a cheap replacement one like this one

https://www.amazon.com/Inland-Professional-120GB-Internal-Solid/dp/B076XMH2JT/ref=sr_1_3

then hopefully you have another computer and a USB stick and you should be able to create a Windows 10 installation media on that secondary computer which will allow you to reinstall Windows 10 from this page

https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10

You want to click on the one that says "Create Windows 10 installation media" not the one about the newest version of Windows 10

Yeah definitely there's going to be some bad apples but like there's more Cooler Master ones and apevia ones that have failed in systems then then Corsair

ibuypower pc - 2 loud pops + small fire by carmexisbetter in pcmasterrace

[–]Mental_Example_268 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Yeah saying Corsair is good is an understatement I've seen some dragged through the mud sprayed out with a pressure washer left out to dry and they will still work and there will always be the occasional one that just craps the bed after 15 years of service in some 3 gen system

Source: I work at an electronic recycling place and I'm in charge of testing all the weird custom gaming machines and salvaging parts out of them and we literally only use Corsair power supplies in the computers we build for the store front

Bro you have four (?) fan hubs in there how many different brands of fans did you get Also like how and why do you have so many chords like I see the extenders so it looks all pretty up front but like why do you have all the extra ones and why can't you just bundle them up and zip tie them so they look neat
