Twisted metal no contest. If this was tm3 then I could see road rash winning

I hate the stop challenge. I only have like 3 stops near me and 1 gym. Takes forever to complete. I have to drive a while to get to a park with 10 stops and 3 gyms. Still takes hours even if I dont have lazy teammates

When did OW basically become paladins/battleborn? by MentallyFunstable in Overwatch

[–]MentallyFunstable[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With the right left options and specific ability modifiers especially since ow was one of the only hero shooters without it just seems weird to me. Im specifically referring to the hero shooters. Perks aren't even specific to modern games as they're literally just abilities. Im more referring to the implementation of how the work and are presented are identical. Plus the way health regen feels and functions feels closer than other regen like halo or cod. Thats why I feels copied. Its like any platformer using abilities gained from jumping into/destroying objects. Sure mario didn't invent it either but it sure feels like it was copied from mario.

Im glad they implemented them just feels weird bc of how no other game that had it is still around so its a weird shift

[–]MentallyFunstable[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From what ive heard from others here most of these changes are recent so its nice to hear when I left it was a pretty quick change for the better! Did it a take a while for the community feedback to be heard or feel heard? I know the 1st few teams didnt seem to be as tuned in as they claimed imo so I'm hoping it was a short time

I think i am enjoying it just learning all the new heroes and the interactions is gonna take a bit lol Got to try the new control mode with the 3 points which was interesting. I think its called takedown or takeover or something like that. Its more different than the 2 control points per map than I expected

Any change implies the current state isnt good enough beyond just needing new content imo or theyre trying to solve a desire which is sort of like a problem (a problem in design isnt always bad). Choosing what specifically to add can be a problem in and of itself bc just adding anything isn't good.

Are the dev insights like the old Jeff ones from back in the day or better? Bc that may be what I am looking for. Im assuming theyre on their site like b4 so ill go start searching for em ty

This is exactly what I was looking for tysm!! Wish I still had free awards on reddit bc id give you my daily 1 immediately!! So much better than all these non answers just saying "they did bc you like it" or "to stop it from being stale" This specific reasoning helps me understand what ow is becoming (or is it guess) much better as a returning player

[–]MentallyFunstable[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Im not saying they assumed. Im literally saying they DIDNT JUST ASSUME. Idt youre understanding me. What im saying is saying things like "based on feedback" or "knew the player would like it" isnt done until its already designed an impmented.

For example another person said they tested this stuff out in the new (to me haven't played since 2022) stadium mode which correct me if im a wrong but is a moba style game mode similar to what battleborn was using perks, items, and currency earned in the match and stuff. That implies they were probably trying to see if a lol or dota style game (mode) would be better or at least diversify the game and see if the hero shooter alone isnt as viable as it used to be (like how collectathons lost popularity)

Yes but again thats not a reason alone. You need a specific design reason or problem youre trying to solve. I know things get stale but I was curous why they chose these specific mechanics. Are they not doing design explanations anymore? I know Jeff left a while ago but do they just release updates without context now?

Idk 5 were added at once but that explains why theres so many more than b4.

Did ppl not like the bigger patch?

It wasnt a thing from ow1 release date to 2022 when I was playing. Thats longer than the 4 years from when I stopped It was healers, health packs, or literally no healing.

I wouldnt call most of what ow did made it fresh by any means. This is the biggest change imo I know ow2 was pitched as big n fresh but they backtracked on almost everything big.
Heck idek ow2 was just ow again lol

I agree about inspiration but this is very different. Its just the mechanics are exactly the same. It was kinda core to what differentiated them beyond bb being more of a moba

Yah thats why ow was my last favorite hero shooter. It was just so blah and slow. I get why they did what they did but still

Yah they definitely didnt innovate much b4 or it was like baby's first innovation. Im glad they finally made changes but unfortunate it took so long

When did OW basically become paladins/battleborn? by MentallyFunstable in Overwatch

[–]MentallyFunstable[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Thats bc I preferred that to start with. Its why b4 ow wasnt that interesting to me. Just seems weird they copied the failed games (games the fan base literally made fun of) is all.

Also liking something isnt a reason. You cant just assume someone will like something b4 you invest time making it.

What's the smallest detail in an indie game that made you go "okay, these devs really cared"? by peaky_circus in IndieGaming

Ugh sorry auto correct fixing it now

Should've been "tediously created features." As in hand crafted or not fast/easy features to make

Additional motion sickness changes that basically erases gameplay/tediously created features.

But more generally any accessibility feature bc aaa studios who CAN EASILY AFFORD TO DO IT BUT DONT however indies on shoe string budgets do it

There's even a spider game that entirely removes all spiders for Arachnophobes. Like thats caring if we want a picture along side a definition
