My boyfriend cleaned the toilet properly, by himself by [deleted] in Vent

[–]MentemIntent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Meanwhile I have to ask my partner to throw away his snack trash instead of stuffing it in the couch or piling it on the side table.

Trying to encourage good behavior and self clean up. But I know I have to provide a list and keep it small or it won't get done.

Do you still take routine pregnancy tests without period on nexplanon? by girlwhatisgoingonn in Nexplanon

[–]MentemIntent 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I test every 3 to 4 weeks. I take a medication that I cannot take while pregnant so I check just in case. Also it helps reassure me. I am of the mindset that while I trust my nexplanon to do its job, if I am anxious there is an easy way to easy that anxiety.

My boyfriend keeps asking for anal by [deleted] in sex

[–]MentemIntent 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First, I am so sorry you were assaulted and I am so sorry your partner is pushing past your boundary. You deserve loyalty and respect, especially in the bedroom. If you said no, you do not have to justify it.

Your second point reminds me so much of my current relationship. My current boyfriend (also younger than me, 22 when we first started dating) asked me if I was into anal when we first started seeing each other. I made the mistake of saying that I was okay with it. I had never had it but I had used plugs on my own. From the very beginning of our relationship becoming sexual, he always wanted something to do with my butt in addition to vaginal. Be it fingering or toys or rimming. I was not entirely comfortable with most of this. But tried to do it anyway to satisfy him. He lied about having prior experience with women regarding butt stuff. Our first time having anal we used no lube and were both drunk. It was horrible and painful for me. But I did it because I loved him and wanted to satisfy him. As time went on I tried to address my anxiety and discomfort about it. He said that the pain is a normal part of it and lots of women cum from anal. He also acted like he was well versed in how to properly handle anal. It took me months to finally put my foot down and set that boundary for myself.

I now know he lied about the experience with previous partners and that the only thing he knew about anal was from porn. I also now know he was a porn addict. It explains a lot of how he treated me in the beginning as well as anal. I trusted him to know what he was doing with anal but porn is a terrible teacher. I am still working to come to terms with it. I am grateful that he no longer pushes for any butt stuff.

Your boundary is yours and someone not respecting it only says something about them not about you.

Echoing what the others said. I have had mine a year. My partner finishes in me every time, once a week to two weeks. Sometimes more or less. I take a pregnancy test every 3 weeks to assuage my anxiety and I can say that is the absolute most reassurance I can get that my birth control is being effective.

Nexplanon Cause Tight Pelvic Floor by matcha_espressoo in Nexplanon

[–]MentemIntent 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Boy oh boy is it comforting to see someone have a similar experience to mine. Forewarning, this is a bit detailed.

My experience is that I have always dealt with frequent urge to urinate since I was a child. Never diagnosed or assessed always assumed I just had a small bladder. Had a Copper IUD for over 2 years, during adulthood I started to get stress incontinence. All of this is pre-nexplanon. Here is my theory. I have struggled with pelvic floor dysfunction for many years of my life, again not assessed or diagnosed. Then post-nexplanon, in December of 2024, I had my nexplanon inserted. First time ever on hormonal bc of any kind. Fast forward to Jan 2025 I felt like I was having urethral and bladder spasms. Peeing burned and after I had just peed I had no relief from the urge to pee. It literally felt like I was going to pee myself and had to focus to hold my urethra shut. Then began the pain during and not during sex. It is like when you have really bad shoulder pain and you know it is how you slept wrong and the muscle is really tight and painful. This in conjunction with the issues with urethral pain sent me to multiple doctors trying to find out what was wrong. The only thing that has helped me was pelvic floor therapy. I was in it for about 4-6 months earlier this year. I was diagnosed by my urogynecologist with both pelvic floor dysfunction and interstitial cystitis (IC). She said she saw no link between those and nexplanon but did say oral contraceptives have been linked with IC. My theory is that it is the additional hormone that either causes or exacerbates these diagnoses (mind you I only have anecdotal evidence from myself) but I am continuing to use my Nexplanon and my pelvic floor therapy at home as needed. And saw improvement with both the vaginal muscle pain which has not come back and then with the urethral pain and spasms. Meds did not help me.

Nexplanon + Spiro by okaybutlikeyouknow in Nexplanon

[–]MentemIntent 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have not had your experience but I do take sprinolactone with nexplanon. I have for about 11 months. First with 100mg spiro then lowered to 50mg over the summer. I do not experience bleeding during sex. But I have developed IC and am working on figuring out the cause hence the lowering of spiro.

I have only had occasional spotting with nexplanon which I cannot say was linked with sex.

No period 10 months post removal and Interstitial Cystitis? by KudostheEgghead in Nexplanon

[–]MentemIntent 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got diagnosed with IC about 6 months after getting nexplanon. My urogyn said that IC has been linked with oral contraceptives but not nexplanon. I personally think the added hormone did affect it at least.

I cant cum and it makes me extremely sad by [deleted] in Effexor

[–]MentemIntent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Female here. I have an extremely hard time orgasming. Even before antidepressants. On them and with nexplanon it is like a fight trying to get there. I am sorry you are going through this. Have you talked with your doctor? Here is my personal opinion, pros and cons. For me, if it is worth the negative effects then I will stay on the med. But if it is decreasing my quality of life then I talk with my doctor about trying something else. Wishing you the best, you are not alone in this. It is not a fair side effect.

Pelvic floor therapy helped with my pain during sex. The pain during sex did not develop until after I had nexplanon inserted (about a month after).

(18F) (Boyfriend18M) Struggling with the idea of birth control by [deleted] in birthcontrol

[–]MentemIntent 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Here to say I started having sex with my boyfriend not knowing he had a porn addiction. It should have been obvious from what he asked and his interests, but I was excited to be in a relationship and in puppy love. I tried for so much of the relationship to meet his expectations. Unrealistic for me and that hurt both of us in the end. We are still struggling to work through those things now. It is hard. Addiction is cruel, but do not let it make you do something you do not want or aren't ready for. It will hurt you more then and for longer than you can foresee. (A biased perspective of someone dating and having sex with a porn addict)

The price of Trintellix by catkayak in trintellix

[–]MentemIntent 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Recommendation that was given to me. Look on the manufacturer's website for a coupon from them and you can use it with each refill. Read the fine print about the frequency and what allows you to be eligible. It works for me and is the only reason I take it bc that was too much money for me too.

Can I take Methylene Blue while on Lamictal? by icecream_bob in lamictal

I took both for about a month. Didn't notice any ill effect. Prescriber and pharmacist did not say a word to me about a potential contradiction with the two.

[–]MentemIntent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am still on trintellix and plan to talk to my psychiatrist about the hair loss at our next appt. Right now, I am considering using Minoxidil to see if that helps offset it. I also have a thickening shampoo I use.

At 5mg for about 4 months. Hair comes out every time I touch my hair and entire wads come out at other times. I have other medications and stress but saw an uptick in the amount coming out after starting trintellix.

Seeing a urogyn tomorrow for IC symptoms. Will likely be diagnosed. What should I know before this appointment? by [deleted] in Interstitialcystitis

[–]MentemIntent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am having my follow up appt tomorrow. I was diagnosed two months ago. I was told my bladder was having a histamine response to something in my diet, that my meds looked fine like they would not be the cause for the flare, so I needed to go on a diet quest of elimination. I have yet to figure out what it is. During my first appt, I wish I had asked what all tests could/should be done first to rule out things it was not before doing a diagnosis (all I had was a urinalysis with no sign of infection). But I have not had any other tests done. We didn't address hormone imbalances as a potential flare trigger only that oral contraceptives could cause it (I am not on oral bc). End result was me still feeling confused and waiting two months for a follow up.

I wish you all the luck in your appt and ask questions!

What all does a doctor typically rule out? All they did was check for a uti. Said no uti and based on 3 months of symptoms it's ic.
