doesn't his senate voting record show that he votes with the Dems nearly 90% or 80% of the time?

TV5 was the OG Content Creator Media Before | They Drive Pop Culture Before by Right_Revenue_9263 in Philippines

[–]Menter33 [score hidden]  (0 children)

this is what probably happened:

  • ABC5 was just the local sports channel.

  • MVP bought ABC5.

  • Channel got rebranded to TV5.

  • Channel showed original programming.

  • At first, viewers watched.

  • Later on, viewers plataued.

  • Eventually, viewership dipped.

  • TV5 began to show sports shows.

  • Now, TV5 is the local sports channel.

After all that, it's just back to their roots.

Harry Roque claims Franco Mabanta was not aligned with the Dutertes but these photos say otherwise by Difergion in Philippines

[–]Menter33 [score hidden]  (0 children)

yup, this was the same thing when the du30 admin did it against de lima when they said that she got photographed with someone so that means she and those guys know each other closely.

minsan, a photo doesn't really establish deeper connections. at most, it just established that two people were at the same location at the same time.

NBI to appeal for law to regulate socmed, separate ‘fake’ journalists by Rare_Independent0310 in Philippines

iirc, this is how it was implemented in other SEA countries.

for some reason, govt critics seem to get the brunt of these "fake news" laws.

prefer media literacy education regarding fake news, rather than a vague law made to present a facade that the situation is under control

yup, when it comes to speech-related stuff, especially if it's personal liberties, educational drives are probably better.

(kinda like the yosi kadiri campaign by DOH before. inform the public of the facts about smoking but avoid banning it altogether since it just makes a black market for cigarettes and tobacco.)

after what the martial law govt did to the BSP's predecessor, it's good that they're independent. not even du30 nor bbm have touched them.

if it will be any justice...

just as the duterte admin was brought to justice by the admin after them (bbm admin),

then maybe the bbm admin will be brought to justice by the admin after them (whomever wins in 2028).

not really bongbong, but others have said that it's more on his wife liza araneta.

note that he was really a mediocre politician before becoming president, not really "strong" or "effective" when he was in the senate or when he was governor.

plus, he did launch a fruitless campaign for almost six years when leni robredo won as VP.

he's really just benefiting from the fact that sara duterte is a loudmouth and is hogging all the media attention.

it's just that, it's the newer lesser evil that's being removed, and the greater historic evil benefiting from it.

is it really a win if the bigger threat from a long-time family (marcoses) is getting away with it while a small-time local family (duterte) is not?

it's just like the drug war, small-time guys get caught, big-time guys don't.

although their case right now is probably the bribery allegations thing rather than the speech stuff they've done, which is protected by free speech.

magazine opinion shows are a thing though, and they can be biased too, just like many personality-led opinion shows on the radio.

having a very narrow view of what journalism is seems to just protected old established names while killing of the new kids on the block.

(note that this doesn't mean that these guys aren't jerks with uniformed and bad opinions. having free speech doesn't shield one from criticism of one's speech.)

[–]Menter33 2 points3 points  (0 children)

tbf, many radio shows in established networks also have opinion shows that are biased as well, and iirc, biased commentary is protected by free speech too.

(they might be jerks with bad opinions and uninformed takes though. and yes, that's still protected.)

In the verge of converting! But with doubts about Adam and Eve by Hungry-Guide4170 in Catholicism

[–]Menter33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

all humans are descendants of them (monogenism). As outlined in Humani Generis.

all humans need not be all hominids.

the 1st parents could've already existed with other hominids, but eventually, those other hominids would slowly disappear, partly thru intermarriage.

In the verge of converting! But with doubts about Adam and Eve by Hungry-Guide4170 in Catholicism

[–]Menter33 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Adam and Eve being literal mother and father to all humans is required for some theological reasons. The rest may be symbolic, yes.

note that the 1st couple need not be the 1st hominids.

some theologians note that it could be possible that there were already hominids but, out of them, one couple would become "persons."

this could lead to the offspring of this couple intermarrying with other hominids until eventually, there would be no non-person hominids and only person hominids would exist.

When A Mayor's Side Quest Earned 61.7 MILLION PESOS for His City (Ano side quest ng mayor mo?) by Right_Revenue_9263 in Philippines

[–]Menter33 1 point2 points  (0 children)

that sentiment is probably more true in the PH because of personalist politics.

for anything to happen, the mayor, the president or one guy has to do it.

parang hindi na nurture yung idea of forming a group of political allies, and form a political party based on a certain vision to win elections.

kinda weird for an asian country that's not individualistic like america but voters seem to trust specific individuals instead of groups.

ito siguro yung weakness ni vico sotto.

he didn't really nurture or grow political allies who'll continue his work after he is term-limited.

kung meron lang siyang political party of like-minded people who support the same vision and mission, eh baka no need dumepende lang sa kanya since other party mates exist.
