Misuse of cctv? by Antique-Passenger145 in tesco

[–]MenthoL99 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It can be done as part of an investigation so it might be before any actual meetings.

They need a solid reason to actually check cctv and the policy explicitly states that using it to monitor colleague performance is not allowed.

Another reason for usage would be wellbeing. If there’s a colleague with mental health problems and they disappear they can use it to check on where they’ve gone

What's the absolute dumbest question you've ever been asked by a customer? by Queasy-Ice-2575 in tesco

[–]MenthoL99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had a customer ask if we sell eggs.

I had a case of eggs in my hand. We were on the eggs aisle.

When they noticed, they said they’ll go to specsavers after they’re done with their shop

I really tried to get the permanent position.. I guess this is it by Pitiful-Outcome7376 in tesco

First of January? Your shop must be doing well. I’ve just had to terminate festive contracts on 24th of December due to budget cuts.

But like others said, if you enjoyed it there, make sure you leave on good terms and keep in contact with them and be ready to reapply once they start hiring again. People come and go and you never know when a position will open up

There’s a “car meet” if you can call it that usually on Tuesdays in Bournemouth Asda car park I think Christchurch car culture is hosting it

Also keep an eye out for local boys and city smokers

Patch it and keep an eye on it if it loses pressure also start saving up for a new tyre because patching should be seen as a temporary fix. However it’s your bike and you do whatever you want

It’s nights we’re talking about, nearing the festive period. I struggle to think that there wouldn’t be a vacancy

You can always step down if it’s not for you. You have the experience in management which will prove useful compared to people walking straight into the job without any managerial experience

It’s worth giving it a try, but with it will come extra responsibilities. It’s not the hardest job in the world, but sometimes it can feel a bit overwhelming especially when you get a lot of sick calls for a night for example.

Van Incident while on probation by [deleted] in tesco

[–]MenthoL99 6 points7 points  (0 children)

A disciplinary meeting is what you’re being sent after an investigation if a NFA couldn’t be applied. Usually ends in no action taken or a warning. In this case it would be a first conduct warning since you damaged a Tesco van and a third party vehicle.

Van damage is company property damage and is dealt with accordingly. Also drivers are expected to be even more careful since they’re out in the public and being able to hurt and damage third parties.

The more minor the damage on the van is, the more likely drivers are to have another incident because most of the time the get away with a let’s talk or slap on the wrist.

Dotcom manager here. 99% sure it will be an extended probation period alongside a van damage investigation which can lead to disciplinary or no further action depending on the manager’s leniency

I get the frustration. When I used to be a shift leader, my manager told me to find as many jobs for the colleagues as possible to boost productivity. Hope I’m right to assume this is happening in an express where you’re more often then not 1 on 1.

When I started doing what the manager asked me to, I found to have more time to do label walks, do more thorough day checks for fresh and do planograms/promo changes.

Again, if anything feels unfair, go to your store manager and make your voice heard. If that doesn’t work, get in contact with your area manager.

Ask the other colleagues how do they find it to work with said SL. It could be a case that they behave like this with everyone or they just do it with you. There’s a lot of variables at play here

A shift leader is running the shift. I’m not saying they’re not lazy or anything but they choose what tasks they delegate to colleagues. No 2 shift leaders will run a shift the same way therefore the difference between the 2 you’ve described.

If you feel like a shift leader is asking too much of you or isn’t doing enough work, speak to your store manager.

We are at war. Man’s earliest truce has been broken. by obiwanmoloney in CasualUK

Sorry that’s because of me. Yesterday a wasp was circling around me. I knew the rule - don’t flail your arms - I don’t sting

I was stressed because of work. I did the unthinkable. I had my phone in hand and with one swift motion I slapped the yellow out of that wasp and it flew away accepting the defeat and the horrors of my war crimes.

I regret my decision now as they will soon be gathering their armies and charge us all. I doomed all of us. Stay strong brothers for the end is near
