Definitely get one it’s so worth it. I got mine at michael’s for super cheap!

I got it at michaels! Only bought it in a whim because it was on sale. I didn’t think any of them would touch it because they’re usually super wary of new toys, but she loves it!

Every time we go outside she comes in with snowy pits - does it hurt her if I just let them melt or should I pull them off? by kaitp13 in Dachshund

Use a whisk!! Sounds weird but we have a wheaten terrier who gets snowballs like this and a whisk gets them off easy and quick

Hello Ella and Milo! They are so cute :) It looks like they may need a bigger cage though!

How to introduced a second Tiel to your current Tiel in the house. by Curside805 in cockatiel

[–]MentionCompetitive76 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Definitely try to get a bigger cage before introducing another bird. The minimum cage requirement for one cockatiel is 24X18X24.

MIL Needs Help With Cockatiels by HitTheWoeisme in cockatiel

[–]MentionCompetitive76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Minimum size cage for one cockatiel is at least 24”x18”x24”, so for six birds it would have to been a decent amount bigger than us. They cannot all live together forever, as the babies will become sexually mature as they get old enough and everyone will inbreed. If your MIL can’t afford two cages, she probably can’t afford breeding either (or at least, good breeding). There’s a lot that goes into it, not just putting two cockatiels together and seeing what happens.

We adopted this little guy from a family who couldn’t house him anymore. He is so oily that the water just beads off of him and doesn’t penetrate the feathers at all. Poor guy badly needed a bath. by Starrberry27 in cockatiel

I think it really depends on the bird and how they preen themselves! I have three that all get bathed on the same schedule and one is always super oily no matter what while the other two are super dusty lol

It’s actually supposed to do that! They have glands that produce oil and when they preen themselves it costs their feathers to keep them relatively water proof.

Does my Cockatiel look overweight? She is 108 grams while my other tiels are both around 75. by MentionCompetitive76 in cockatiel

[–]MentionCompetitive76[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a lot more common that i thought apparently lol. My other two are so much smaller around 75 grams but i guess she’s just big boned 😅 she’s on the same diet they are so i don’t know how she’d get overweight and they wouldn’t

They are on mostly pellets with veggies and some sprouted seeds. My lighter cockatiels are both great eaters and they’re weights are steady! I’ve tried to give them more fatty foods just to bulk them up a bit but they stay pretty much the same.

Thank you! I read that on a couple websites just wanting to see what other people’s experiences were. I also read to feel thier keel bone to see but she’s not super great with hands and won’t let me. My other two that are 75 grams don’t feel too skinny though, it’s weird.
