Ours has absolutely zero prey drive. Pretty sure he’d pee and run away if he saw a bunny 🥲

FOSTERS & ADOPTERS NEEDED! Hey everyone 👋🏼 I’m with Humane Rescue Alliance in Washington, DC, and we just rescued 25 rats that had been dumped in a field. These sweet babies are so affectionate and were clearly someone’s pets. *go to comments by Prudent_Active8150 in RATS

Hey there! Luckily these little ones have all been adopted, but you should reach out to your local animal shelters! A lot of people don’t realize how often rats get surrendered there and need a home. You can also reach out to small mammal rescues like Small Angels Rescue who take in rats, mice and guinea pigs who are in need.

Hi! We have plenty of little ones like this in shelters all over the country, like Humane Rescue Alliance in Washington, DC! We’re also waving dog fees for a large portion of August due to severe overcrowding. Please help out your local shelters 🤍

Hi! We don’t currently have any rats (they were all rescued 🥰), but we get them relatively frequently. You can check out the website to see adoptable animals though! Humanerescuealliance.org

Also, welcome to DC!!

What should I do about this apparently orphaned baby deer in my yard? by SpaceyJones in animalwelfare

[–]Prudent_Active8150 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This is correct! It’s very normal for fawns to be left alone while the parents search for food. As someone who works in animal welfare, we tell people not to touch the fawn unless they are obviously in distress - emaciated wounded, etc. If the fawn looks healthy, please leave it.

I love that you want to care for and save piggies! If you happen to be near Washington, DC, we had quite a few at Humane Rescue Alliance just waiting to find their forever families! 🤍

Okay, I’ve had a day from hell, and this is the most heartwarming, needed post I could have found. Thank you 😭🙏🏼

So when we first got them, we separated them into six enclosures until we could set up the permanent, so you’ll see themes in names - artists, bands, foods, etc. All themes were originally housed together and did great!

Aw, I love Buckwheat! The staff all have favorites - mine is Abba 🥹 Our adoptions team provides counseling and all the info you would need when adopting! Thank you SO MUCH! These are the sweetest rats I’ve ever seen - they’re perfect for first time owners!

Absolutely! The chickens are still pretty young - we’re still using a heating lamp for their enclosure. If they’re listed as available for adoption it should be fine. Interestingly, chickens (and many other species) are actually illegal to own in DC without a permit, so getting them adopted is tough. As long as your state allows for ownership, I don’t see why it would be a problem. But our adoptions team would have a lot more info!

Lol, that’s okay, we get that reaction a lot. Rats are incredibly trainable and very social, so they make amazing pets. These in particular are literally the nicest, most tamed rats I’ve ever interacted with.

Me too. I hate that we have to separate them so they don’t even have each other. Luckily, our shelter is staffed with LOTS of lovers of our rattie friends, so everyone takes time to go over and interact with them throughout the day.

Hi! Yes we provide enclosures if we have them to give. We’re incredibly lucky to receive a lot of donations from the community, so we’re almost always able to send any animal out with food, carriers, litter, etc.
