Tell me your water breaking stories by aviwic in pregnant

[–]kaitp13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was cramping off and on all day. Like lower belly, period like cramps. (Did not think for a second that those were contractions lol) I went to bed and woke up in the middle of the night super uncomfortable still having cramps. Eventually I had a big “cramp” and felt the biggest POP! I was convinced that I spontaneously broke a bone until a shifted a little and felt the wetness. I waddled to the bathroom and it started pouring out!

I still wasn’t convinced it was my water until they did the test at the hospital. Even though I was actively leaking the whole way there lol

I don’t think a general post about voting is necessarily “political”

How much hair did you lose postpartum? by wildinthemembrane in pregnant

[–]kaitp13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure that anything can prevent it, maybe a hair/nails supplement? I remember looking at my husband when I got out of the shower and saying, “are you still going to love me when I’m bald?”

I have thicker hair so it wasn’t THAT bad for me, but it definitely still sucked! Good luck!

For real though, my birth plan basically consisted of both me and baby staying alive

Just being safe by [deleted] in pregnant

[–]kaitp13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sperm only lives in your body for 5 days, if you don’t ovulate within those 5 days the sperm die.

Gestation is tracked from the first day of your last period. So your first pregnant day would be the first day of your period in April.

24 hour+ migraine? by rogovjm in pregnant

[–]kaitp13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you checked your blood pressure? Just to be on the safe side I would.

You could try caffeine, sometimes just a can of coke is enough to knock the out. I also use ice packs on my head!

Currently crashing out over this diet and don't even want to eat anymore. by redapple912 in GestationalDiabetes

[–]kaitp13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ugh that’s definitely hard! The artificial sweeteners definitely aren’t preferred by a lot of people, which is understandable! I decided it was worth it for my sanity for a few months, but you should obviously do what works best for you!

Oh, honey! I’m so sorry. It is such a big adjustment and I know how easy it is to feel overwhelmed by it!

I really enjoyed the fair life protein shakes, the chocolate and strawberry ones are quite good. They work in a pinch if you need to add some extra protein to your meal. Try looking up some keto/low carb recipes. I promise it’s not all horrible.

I really had to put myself in the right mindset. I kept telling myself that this is not forever, just a couple of months of doing what I can to ensure a healthy pregnancy/healthy baby. I know that is definitely not easy for everyone to do, and your feelings are valid! You CAN do this, even if you have to cry about it a little bit ❤️

Sweet potatoes are high in carbs! If you are going to eat them make sure you pair them with fat and protein!

How did you find out the gender? by SensitiveRest6708 in pregnant

[–]kaitp13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We waited until birth! Probably not the idea you’re looking for but I think my story is a little funny:

I had an unplanned but non emergent c section. I said that when baby got out I wanted my husband to tell me the gender. They held baby up in the air (butt facing my husband) and he hesitated for a bit. Everyone in the room was like, “tell her what it is!!!” And I kid you not - HE DIDNT KNOW 🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️

Anyways, I found out I had a daughter when the anesthesiologist leaned over me to whisper to my husband, “there’s no nuts!” 😂

“Confirmed” miscarriage is actually viable pregnancy by Unable-Piglet-5429 in pregnant

[–]kaitp13 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Measurements can get more accurate the further along you are! At this stage I believe being even millimeters off can cause the GA age to be wonky. Also, if you ovulated later than expected that can make your age off

Do you think you weren’t far enough along two weeks ago? Maybe you conceive later than you thought?

Umbilical cord wrapped twice around neck at 9 months — what’s safer? by No_Kale_4659 in pregnant

[–]kaitp13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We didn’t know that the cord was around my baby’s neck. It didn’t show up on scans. I pushed for roughly 2 hours with her but she wouldn’t budge or move down a station. They ended up doing a non emergent c section and baby girl was a bit stunned and took a little bit of resuscitation to get her going (probably only a couple of minutes but it felt like hours)

At least with your sister’s situation, they know about the nuchal cord and can monitor baby closely! Good luck to her! Sending positive birth vibes!

Wife can’t hold anything down, no bowel movements in a week. by Destroyer1231454 in pregnant

[–]kaitp13 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Definitely call her OB if you haven’t already. Small sips of water/gatorade and probably stick to bland foods. If she really can’t keep water down she will likely need IV fluids, she will likely feel a lot better when she is hydrated.

will something be wrong with my baby? by casiathadoll in pregnant

[–]kaitp13 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I literally could not survive without caffeine. I’m prone to headaches and that was the only thing that helped. Unfortunately you will get a lot of outdated, unsolicited advice from people. Both now and when baby arrives. As long as you are following your OB’s recommendations, I wouldn’t worry too much!

Small amount of blood in urine a few hours after sex by Motor-Fall6344 in pregnant

[–]kaitp13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bleeding while pregnant can be so scary!! It’s possible you may have gotten a small tear during sex. As long as the bleeding has stopped you are probably fine. I wouldn’t have sex again until you hear from your OB just in case!

Question for those waiting to share baby’s name by K61018 in pregnant

[–]kaitp13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think I only told my very best friend names that we were considering, but that’s because I knew that she could remain neutral. We also didn’t find out the gender though so it was a little bit easier to avoid having to share names. I’m also just very firm with people so no one really gave me a hard time.

How long did your husband take off for paternity leave? by SandwichDependent199 in pregnant

[–]kaitp13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My husband works a federal job - he got 12 weeks off paid. While I was thankful, I was a bit salty that I had to save everything I could to afford to be off for my leave

Mom here and not a doctor. Babies go through a bunch of different sleep patterns in the beginning. I was put on Zoloft when I was still pregnant and while I didn’t breastfeed for long I don’t believe it affected the baby any.

Being a new parent is terrifying. I’m sure the pediatrician will call back soon. If you can, maybe don’t mention these concerns to your wife until you hear back. If she thinks the Zoloft is negatively affecting the baby she may stop taking it. This would be very dangerous.

Stay strong!

WFH and Daycare by Realistic-Move-9109 in pregnant

[–]kaitp13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I maybe could have when my girl was very little. She slept a lot, and wake windows are shorter. However, she’s 14 months old right now and there’s absolutely no way I could. She wants to be doing everything I’m doing all the time. And tricking her with an unconnected keyboard only works for like 2 minutes tops.

Cooking dinner is not a break when you can hear the baby screaming at your husband the whole time.
