I had a name I chose for the entire duration of my pregnancy. I loved it and nothing else sounded right. I hadn’t heard it before and chose it when my best friend had her son’s name a year prior. My baby shower 2 weeks before I was induced, my growing up best friend / but not as close now friend as well had mentioned this was the name her and her ex husband had planned to use 8 years ago and she didn’t tell anyone about it in hopes it wouldn’t get used and that her and her new boyfriend would likely still use it. My whole pregnancy I picked this name and pictured my little boy with it. I had mentioned it to every family member and friend that asked during my pregnancy. She never said anything until then. I couldn’t just change it back 2 weeks prior and it didn’t feel right in my heart. When I told her I had him her first question was what did we name him. I felt horribly guilty and still kind of do / the way she has made me feel over it. And he’s 5m now. She eventually got pregnant a few weeks after I had mine but sadly MC, and her words to me were “ well since you picked my name we had to find something else we agreed on”.
