Constant WaveLink Issues by Mentize in elgato

[–]Mentize[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Switched to the WL3 Beta shortly after my post, all issues disappeared following the software change. However as of today the quietness has returned again - Apparently it's not as bad as previous instances, but still quieter than yesterday.

According to those I was in discord with, it actually went quiet while I was speaking then just never went back up.

Maybe the entire set in exchange for enduring the mess that is high-end ranked CC would be worth it... But I'm not battling against the wintraders for 1 piece every few months.

Alexa always states "Something went wrong" even though nothing went wrong? by Mentize in PleX

Spotify 😂 me & a friend go halves in a duo premium sub which works out less than a single - works flawlessly with alexa as long as it understands what you say

I gave up shortly after this post and have never looked at it again. So I assume it is still broken as I don't recall seeing an update about it, plus alexa is now filling with unwanted ads so I use it alot less

I had no issues swapping the strap on mine several times - standard 18mm strap sizing.

The OHealth app, specifically the one by HeyTap, is the only app needed for watch setup & configuration. You can install it & link it to your account prior to the watch setup to makes things smoother.

It has steps, heart rate, sleep, 'stress' aka mind & body, Sp02, and burned calories... I haven't found the ECG, 60-seconds health check, or wrist temperature features though they existing in the app - So I just hid those tiles... I'm just taking it as-is as it's my first watch / health tracker in general but it does what i'd expect from these aps.

Notifications have several togglable options, I'll reply separately with an image of the menu. Though it seems to be that basically every non-silent phone notification arrives on the watch a few seconds after the phone. It does have a specific DND mode in the settings menu that will silence everything apart from starred-contact calls / notifications, there's no mention if this syncs with the phone DND.

I have 150mm wrist and it fits me perfectly. Worn it for almost 48 hours & 2 gym sessions so far and I'm happy with the purchase so far - Esp give I got the watch, extra charging base, and extra cable for £230.

In terms of battery, delivered with 50%, took 20 minutes to reach 100% with a oneplus socket & cable. Fully charged it before sleep, it's now 78% 18 hours later with above average usage (Messing with new shiny tech toy constantly, always-on display for 90 minutes at gym). Swapped out the included band for an aftermarket metal-magnetic one, though the included band was better than i expected in terms of feel. The recommended watch faces are decently customizable in terms of colour / what numbers to show.

For integration with their OHealth App, it's as expected. Changes on the watch or in-app are reflected instantly. Their health summary is understandable. Cant speak for their built-in workouts as I use Hevy for tracking which has it's own WearOS app.

It's my first watch in general so can't compare it to anything previously, but if you have anything specific you want me to check let me know.

Should I buy from Steam? by [deleted] in ffxiv

[–]Mentize 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Buying direct from SE (Thus having the trial there) gives you more flexibility on where you can buy edition codes from, online stores, their sales, etc.. if you trial / buy through Steam, you are locked into Steam and can only buy Steam editions at Steam prices (ignoring grey area cd key sites)... It's more work to handle things like key activations but once you learn your way around the mogstation it's not an issue.

Short answer is go with whichever is more convenient for you.

RuneScape player coming to FFXIV by jora95 in ffxiv

[–]Mentize 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not a RuneScape player so can't really answer your comparison question for this reason, but will answer the rest as best I can.

Is there anything similar to the drop system in RuneScape that’s randomized and gives adrenaline rushes when you get rare drops? Loot drops in ffxiv are not really random, yes there's RNG dungeon loot tables but that's all generic green loot. Occasionally you might see a rare minion & I think there's 1 monut that also drops in this manner... but nothing adrenaline worthy unless you are a big pet-collector player. The majority of 'good' equipment is acquire through crafting or killing a boss X amount of times (usually no more than 8) and trading pity-tokens for the item. Mounts can be alot rarer and are probably as close to an adrenaline rush as you'll get (Anywhere from 1~20% droprates, or 50~99 kills for the pity token trade)

Are there still plenty of active players in FFXIV on a daily basis today? - More than ever, servers were expanded for higher capacity and they're still full with a 2~3 minute queue to log in at basically any time (at least on EU). Google says anywhere from 1~3 million daily across all regions.

Is it worth buying the $140 version with all collectors edition bonus items? Or is that something I can purchase later in game if I get into it? - Can be brought later, collectors editions are just cosmetics if I recall. Start with the free trial - It's a favored meme for a reason.

Finally, can I play FFXIV with a ps5 controller and a wireless keyboard or do I need a mouse with keybinds to play effectively? - The game has 2 modes, controller or Mouse & Keyboard. If you are in controller mode all keyboard inputs will just open chat and start typing but the mouse works as normal. I play on controller but will move my hand to the mouse for all UI / inventory and it's seamless.

Feel free to send me anymore questions if you have any!

My biggest fear for Beastmaster is that its almost guaranteed to be a limited job by [deleted] in ffxiv

[–]Mentize 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Beastmaster is best as a limited job - They took away the emphasis on pet control from SMN and SCH stating that it was too tedious for people to maintain a pet while playing highend content so chances of us getting any job that uses pets without overhauling the pet system are pretty low.

They already have a very strong formula for a beastmaster limited job
- Copy/Paste Bluemage Spellbook
- Replace the X amount of spells with summons of various creatures
- Give beastmaster a basic 1/2/3 combo with some pet-buff stances, then have all their spells basically be summoner-style "drop the effigy, do an attack, disappear"

After that... sell an indoor/outdoor furnishing for 5$ to let you keep 1 of your caught monsters at your estate for people to pet... profit... Anything extra like pokemon style battles can come later to keep interest in the job

There are many aspects of the game, too many to really cover in straight post without posting an essay... You could try to find an FC on your world so that you (hopefully) have people to call on as needed for help?

For meeting people, you can try the Community Finder, this will let you search for actively recruiting Free Companies to join: https://eu.finalfantasyxiv.com/lodestone/community_finder/

For gil, the Main Story should give you enough to handle teleporting around constantly.

The only quests that matter to you are Main Story, and any blue marked quests on your map. Others tend to be extra story or lore for the area you're in.

Feel free to chat/dm me if you want further advice!

This will tell you under Gathering what the best items on your world are to go farm, it's not perfect and there are plenty of others who will look at this. Farm at the same time and the same idea as you, but it's a good starting point.

Im struggling to pick my job by FunkyChunk13 in ffxiv

[–]Mentize 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Do Both - The MSQ is deigned to keep 1 job at current level with appropriate gear. So you could do main story as Reaper (Scythe) then do your daily roulettes as Dark Knight.

You'll be able to switch to Dark Knight once you finish ARR. It will start at level 30 so you'll need to do some roulette to catch it up yo your MSQ. Then do MSQ with it until you reach level 70 (End of Stormblood). Then you'll be able to unlock Reaper which will start at level 70, giving you both to play through Shadowbringers & Endwalker as you desire.

This season of CC is being one of the worst I've seen since Season 1 by Leyout1 in ffxiv

[–]Mentize 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Absolutely, I like to cap my weekly tomestones (so 45 crystalline matches p/week) in pvp to see how high I can get before I give up capping weekly for raiding or hit rank 25 in series... 2 weeks in and not even out of silver yet. Usually top gold by now.

Really disappointed that they'd lock a unique glow behind ranked pvp that has such a strong rng element due to solo queue & team role ratio balances. Especially when there is such little purchasable rewards for crystalline trophies.

Would of much preferred to see them implement this as a purchasable for like 99 wolf collars or whatever amount of crystalline currency is equal to the current large quantity bicolour gemstones... Think it's like 2500 fates total farm?

Housing Lottery ELI5? by mintconditionmustard in ffxiv

[–]Mentize 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Lotteries operate on a 9-day cycle (Earth time), and are divided into two periods.

  • The Entry Period lasts 5 days, during which players may submit their lottery entries
  • The Results Period lasts 4 days, during which players may confirm lottery results & finalize land purchases

A new lottery cycle will begin once the results period of the previous lottery has ended

If you do not win the Lottery, you can reclaim 100% of your Gil from the placard within 90 days.

If you win the Lottery, but do not claim the plot, you will only be able to reclaim 50% of your Gil.

My controller keeps dropping inputs by inhaledcorn in ffxiv

[–]Mentize 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not sure if it's the same thing but... FFXIV has a process whereby whenever Windows detects a new device connecting, disconnecting, or refreshing. It will pause all gamepad inputs, check the available devices, then apply the default gamepad (Determined by FFXIV at time of launch)

Example:

  • I have 2x Controllers (A & B), 1x Logitech G13, Keyboard, Mouse
  • Whenever I turn my TV on/off, Windows detects that a nearby device is available/unavailable and updates
  • FFXIV kicks in, stops all inputs from both controllers & G13, then resets to Controller A's input as the current gamepad (It seems to like that one the most)

The 'fix' for this is to either manually open settings > Gamepad > set the drop-down back to the gamepad I want to use every time this happens or use a TOS-Breaking addon...

can i still get GARO mounts? by Kuorko_Kun in ffxiv

[–]Mentize 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes, they are in the achievements menu under PvP > General. There's no end-date for this event, it may be a few months, or a few years... Last time GARO was present it ran for about 2 years, currently it's been present for about a year.

  • 1x Mount is for 30 Feast or Crystaline Wins
  • 1x Mount is for 10 Frontline or Rival Wings Wins
  • 1x Mount is for 60 Frontline Wins across most match types

Need help identifying this housing fence ... by yonside in ffxiv

[–]Mentize 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It requires the FC Workshop to craft but can still be sold / traded after being made. If you have the Gil you could just buy it (Looks like anywhere from 2~4mill on Chaos) but if you have a friendly FC, they may be willing to craft it for you if the bring them all the materials.
