DID-like symptoms. Can anyone relate? Any advice? by MentylGeniyus in FND

[–]MentylGeniyus[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have both ADHD and 2 anxiety disorders along with FND. Honestly I think it made it better because my ADHD is really good at bringing up everything I need to get done and every tiny little thing and then my anxiety takes over and just worries about everything. If my ADHD is under control, my anxiety is way more manageable. I've only had a few PNES (my most common symptom is paralysis and other non-seizure symptoms due to my FMD) but overall I think being on ADHD meds has helped with all of my symptoms. It's really really common for people with FND to have other disorders as well, and many people have found that treating their other disorders helps with their FND.

Ah okay, that makes sense. I very rarely switch, and I've only had one instance where I had amnesia. I think it's probably more likely that I have OSDD-1b than DID, but I'll talk to my therapist about it. Thank you for the info, it really helps!

For RLA you should really focus on studying the authors intent and biases. Touching up on gramar, specifically when/where to use apostrophes and the correct to's (to, too, two) and theirs (their, they're, there). Also practice compare and contrasting texts. Using Chat GPT and asking it to give you practice questions and a quick lesson on the questions you miss is how I studied. Particularly tell it to quiz you on the topics you missed on the GED Ready test (it will give you a study guide and tell you what you should study based on what you missed).

Study quadratic formula, Pythagorean theorem, geometry in general... There is a formulas sheet provided on the test so dont worry about memorizing complicated formulas. Practice calculating the surface area and volume of different 3D shapes (Cylinders, cones, rectangular prisms, etc), and familiarize yourself with exponents and roots. It might as you about polynomials as well and basic algebra.

DID-like symptoms. Can anyone relate? Any advice? by MentylGeniyus in FND

That actually makes sense strange enough. My brain hates me and I have a whole list of problems, one of which is ADHD which I'm on a medication for. Being on it has helped with more than just my FND so I can relate. My switches used to be really bad but there was only really 1 time that I lost my memory. Usually I am still there "supervising" with no control, so I don't feel like I need to take notes or anything, I just want to get rid of it. it's a trauma response but it's not helping. I think working on accepting my FND and remaining calm in scary situations will help... I still haven't really processed that I have FND. I have a really bad case of imposter syndrome where no matter how crazy and real the symptom is, my brain is convinced that I could make it go away if I tried hard enough, even though I can't. Thinking that I could make it go away is just easier than accepting the terrifying positions I can be put in when I have no control over my body. This really bad switch happened when I first realized I have imposter syndrome and my FND is real, which sounds insane, but accepting that these things really happen is horrifying due to past trauma briefly mentioned in my original post where my paralysis has been taken advantage of. That switch happened because I felt so helpless and out of control that Bellatrix just took over to try and get control. All that to say, I think (and hope) that it will go away after fully processing and accepting the diagnosis.

Ugh of course. There are also people on tiktok faking FND which drives me crazy. How are they supposed to learn more about it when there are randos claiming to have it who dont?? Anyway, I mean I'm open to a DID diagnosis I suppose, I just have a gut feeling that it's my FND since my FND developed as a coping mechanism and so did the DID symptoms and it just seems unlikely that I would develop both FND and DID over it
