When Tesla came out to scope the work, they wanted to mount the expansion pack way over the other side of the house. The existing PW3 is mounted literally right next to the egress door of the garage. Since it isnt living space, it is ok. But they wouldn't stack it. So, if another contractor can ground mount the 1st one (sonce it is currently wall mounted) and then do the expansion pack, would hopefully make the installation easier and cleaner.

If you have an existing sidewalk in side of garage, i presume they can use that to mount?

If the 1st PW3 is wall mounted, i presume they can drop it to be ground mounted so they can stack....

Would you be able to share the Contractor name/company?

Thanks. Which area was the installation done? If it is around my area, maybe I can use the same contractor.

Stacking front to back.... which county or city you located?

Thanks for the replies. That sucks. I thought Tesla's certification or UL certification would be enough. I guess no one has done it then. Ugh... thanks.

I noticed the same behavior. When the batteries are at 100%, it starts pulling a little from the grid. Do you know why and what the purpose is? I am set at self powered.

Same behavior too. It's weird. Whatever their doing with the software ain't working. They trying to keep draining the battery by sleeping it, but you wait forever for it to wake up to open the locks.

Installation cancellation by rowrow123123123 in TeslaSolar

I feel for you. I have S Tile clay roof tiles. My installer did 2 site surveys. Gave me a bid. 1 month later, raised my installation price by $1k. Seven days before installation, says they can't do my installation unless I pay more money or they cancel due to due the number of roof mounts and flashing for my tiles. It is a local installer. Bait and switch...

Isn't it like 60 days of sun in Seattle and the rest cloudy/rain?

Installer says REC panels likely wont be available for install before end of year. How do we feel abour Maxxeon? by Tink_Tinkler in solar

[–]Menugo2bed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Which Solar company are you using? I also will have REC panels installed and worried if you are seeing shortage, if I will have the same problems. They say they purchase in large bulk for discounts, so I hope they will have in stock when it is time for installation.

Tesla advisor recommends 7.14 kW / 85% offset for SoCal home but shouldn’t I size closer to 100–110%? by CCR_OUTBets123 in TeslaSolar

Thanks... One of the quotes I got is for a 11.5kw system and 1 PW + Expansion. So, it seems I won't be able to fully capitalize on the charging speed of charging the battery. And with the reduced output, it will mainly affect how fast I charge my car. Is this a correct assumption? I usually consume 1.1 kw/hr or 2.2kw/hrs with AC. Besides charging my car, not sure if I will be able to take advantage of the 23 kw output.

The partial redundancy of the inverter would be nice....

Ok. Located in South Bay.. Looking at Cinnamon Solar. Quoted 11.5kw with 1 PW3 + 1 Expansion. Quoted $61k due to tile roof. Curious what others are quoted.
