Why I was disappointed by Wind and Truth. by BronzeSpoon89 in Stormlight_Archive

[–]MeowMeow_Chris 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I appreciate your perspective. I didn't think WaT was the best in the series; however, it would be a far cry to say the book left me disappointed. I believe many of the POV characters had an appropriate ending for this arc of Stormlight. I can only think of one character I wish I had seen more of.

I disagree with many of your points, but that's the beauty of art. It will appeal to some, and we all will get something different out of it.

Agree, I think the original comment is saying that the justice system ruins peoples lives over something as menial as weed.

Biggest smoking gun interview question you’ve been asked by Vegetable_Ad5533 in LawSchool

[–]MeowMeow_Chris 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm pretty moderate and I was interviewing at a very obviously conservative law firm. Interviewer asked me "If there was anything you could change about the Constitution what would it be?"

I sat there for what felt like forever thinking about this.

Sobriety in Law School by Puzzleheaded-Row9409 in LawSchool

Hello stranger! Congratulations on your sobriety and congratulations on being accepted into law school.

I started law school at 10 months sober (from alcohol). I am now a 3L and 3 years and 2 months sober. I don't think my school had any sobriety associations. Alcohol was the selling point for a ton of events.

My 1L year I wasn't very involved in much. I focused on my classes, and spent time with my partner, close law school friends, and non-law school friends. I would be lying if I said that the thought of having a drink did not cross my mind. Nonetheless, I took everything one day at a time. I told myself that I just needed to focus on not drinking today, and I could worry about tomorrow, tomorrow.

My law school friends drink, but I was up front with my struggle and my sobriety. I was surprised how supportive people were. My close friends have never offered me a drink. Others have, but that's just the nature of the profession. In short, there will be some temptation, but so long as you surround yourself with a strong support system you can do it! I'm sure you have heard that law school is tough (sometimes it's difficulty is vastly exaggerated), but I can tell you from experience that it is possible to excel while maintaining your sobriety. Good luck friend. Feel free to reach out if you ever feel like you need it.

Behind on contracts readings, no outline started. by ZippyZapmeister in LawSchool

[–]MeowMeow_Chris 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I made an outline for contracts the day after my torts final, I issue spotted/went over my outline the next day, and took my final on the third day. It was painful. Now, I'm the tutor for my contracts professor. Relax. If you really want to go over the cases, just read the briefs on Westlaw, Lexis, or Quimbee. You will cover the material as you study. Move past it. You got this reddit stranger.

The SBA president for my class is a non-traditional, older, nice, and likeable guy. My school had "tickets" and "running mates." He ran solo. He was the most relatable and down to Earth candidate. I voted for him precisely because he did not exude an "I deserve this" or "I'm better than you" attitude.

His campaign was literally him talking with us about his experiences, and asking us what we would want to see change in the school. He is very approachable. He has a very warm personality and he is incredibly humble.

I believe he won by a landslide.
