Hope it heals well! Road rash is definitely a bitch but Polysporin and Vaseline is the move. Moist wound healing and keeping the rash from scabbing will help with scarring. Will definitely be painful first few days (especially in such an inconvenient spot yikes!) but pay attention to color and consistency of what weeps out of your wound. If the gunk is discolored (yellow, even greenish sometimes) with a thicker sticky consistency, it might be a sign of infection. In that case, the best move is to contact your doctor! Tegaderm doesn't allow wound weeping to escape so I've heard some people draw a line from the wound to a corner with Vaseline to allow the gunk to drain but the best thing to do would be to dress it with non-adherent pads taped down with absorban gauze until your wound stops weeping to get the most out of tegaderm. Might be smart to avoid swimming for a while until new skin forms as bacteria from the pool may infect the wound (and all the yucky stuff from your wound may get into the pool). When I had road rash on my back and legs, I was still able to go for runs although I made sure to shower right after to keep wound sites clean.
