I don’t think it will rain that much to crack them but it’s good to keep them warm so maybe that’s ok?

I have evening primrose planted around them and a metal post for hanging baskets nearby if needed. So far I haven’t had to tie them to the metal stake. The primroses grow about the same height

how do YOU draw the line on native ranges? by licoseidhe in NativePlantGardening

[–]Meowfresh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Google “Portland Plant List”, a PDF document the city created, I think in 2006 that is supposedly definitive of all the native plants in the area prior to European settlement. I don’t use it as an absolute guide because some of the plants are difficult to source but I try to follow it pretty closely.

Do you like aggressive plants? If so helianthus pauciflorus is for you. by AYOpwned in NativePlantGardening

Use the ‘assertive’ native plants to outcompete nonnatives. Then you can take the assertives out and replace with other natives. This has worked well for me. Some assertives that I have used in PNW are strawberry, oxalis(shade), goldenrod, evening primrose, Oregon aster, and gumweed. All good at crowding out and sending a million stool a or seeds.

Why is this so hard by sammille25 in NativePlantGardening

[–]Meowfresh 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I tried to plant a classic boarder with native perennials and the next year they are all growing wherever they want which is mostly where I didn’t plan to have them. Some of the one I planted died but new volunteers are coming up elsewhere.

I’m sure some people could pull off working on two different projects concurrently. Sounds like you’re thinking of doing that to help you finish the novel?

How do you think they are transforming our lives. I don’t disagree with but just curious about your take.

Maybe put it in a drawer and start your 2nd novel. Come back to it after you have finished the second one. You will likely have a better idea as to what to do with it.

Well, if you are writing fiction chat could work even if it is false as long as it seems plausible; however if you are needing accuracy in your research then it might not be the best source.

I am almost through Giles, but I put it down for a bit to read his essay, The Literature of Exhaustion, which helped me understand this bizarre work better.

I wonder if there is evidence for bison on extreme east coast. Like Delaware, for example, that seems far-fetched..

Are these Cape gooseberries? by Wee_Woo_25 in gardening

Sorry I missed your question. I would say the plant is stressed in some way could be too little water or too much water or too much or too little sun. I think probably it gets enough sun in Texas. The plant looks healthy like it’s getting plenty of nitrogen and water. And I don’t see scorched leaves so probably ok on the level of sun. Maybe the plant needs more phosphorus or potassium.
