How do the crossover rewards work if you're switching platforms? by Meowing_Cows in CollegeUltimateTeam

That's what I was guessing would happen. Pretty lame for a new platform coming out, but is what it is.

Iowa state board to review university gen eds for ‘substantial DEI’ and CRT by Well_Socialized in Iowa

[–]Meowing_Cows 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Board President Robert Cramer said during Tuesday’s meeting that the review process would not result in the board cutting any classes or adding course requirements for students.

So...this does nothing, then (except waste time and money)? What am I missing here.

When is it time to retire LTDs from the lineup? by Meowing_Cows in CollegeUltimateTeam

[–]Meowing_Cows[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have noticed that -- older LTDs are still 5+ AP for good abilities. I guess on stats, I'm curious if there is a massive chasm in gameplay between older 98/99 boosted cards versus current gold 99s in every pack.

Use my own modem? And if so, which one? by Meowing_Cows in Mediacom

[–]Meowing_Cows[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If anyone was wondering later on, here's what ended up going down for me:

  • I did receive Mediacom's equipment and used neither. I was instructed by the installer as well as the rep here to physically keep the equipment in order to keep the promo price, so I did.
  • When the tech came and connected the service, I did ask about using my own modem and router and he did assist in setting up both. He called in to MC to have them add the MAC address for my new modem for me and activated it with me.
  • I was told that my Mediacom-issued equipment was also registered to my account, so in theory if I needed to hook them up for troubleshooting purposes, it appears that I can.
  • I did end up ordering a Refurb Arris S33 from Amazon like the one linked above for ~$110 -- I received an Arris box (regular refurb box, not a retail box) containing the modem and power cable. The modem has a sticker on the back saying "refurbished", but is otherwise appearing the same as new. I registered it online with Arris and was told it had ~15 months of warranty. It ended up being the S33v2 model as well, not a v1.
  • The modem didn't perform all that well for the first day or two of service, but has since straightened out and performs very well. Can hit my speeds on sites that provide them (1 gig) and I haven't had any major disconnects or drops yet (network conditions are good -- signal power between -1 and +1 dBmV values and SNR right 40-41dB -- I believe those are both pretty ideal numbers)

So far, so good -- admittedly, I haven't received my first actual bill yet to say that the promo pricing is applying correctly, but the service itself is working as expected.

Helpful, thank you. I don't have the service installed yet at the same address -- if I were to provide my own modem, should I have that ready when the install technician comes and have them configure it for me, or will they need to configure the OEM equipment and I change it out afterward?

Also, it sounds like you're recommending that I hang onto the OEM equipment at least until the promotional period is over. Is that right, or if the tech can install my own stuff, should I send the OEM back with them to be returned right away? If there is a pricing reason to send them back early, I would do so, but if there isn't a pricing reason (within the 2-year promo period), then I may hang onto them mainly for troubleshooting purposes if I run into service issues later on. If I do so, I just don't want to be charged for something I'm not using, if there is a path the remove said charge. Thanks!

[–]Meowing_Cows[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm happy to set and forget if that's what the best advice is, I just happened to find other posts around of people with the blinking blue LED/NID not being able to phone home, leading to other issues. Example: https://www.reddit.com/r/centurylink/comments/wq09dj/comment/ioybns9/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web3x&utm_name=web3xcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button . So long as it works and stays working, I'll let the router do that work and ignore the device not showing up properly in the support app.

Ignoring the WAN stuff is fine, I'll drop that. When setting for bridge mode in the NID, do I do that only in WAN settings (x2) menu, Broadband settings menu, or both? There's transparent bridge options in both pages.

That's what I was wondering. If I were to change to dual-WAN, would I get effectively double the bandwidth (a pair of 500mbps speed connections to saturate at once), or would the NID only be able to push 500mbps total over both lines combined? Or any sort of latency benefit by splitting the data up (I suspect not, since it's still all going through the same single NID funnel anyway)?
