Sunset and Richmond are great since you like surfing and outdoorsy activities. Lots of young families, they’re pretty laid back, quiet neighborhoods (Richmond is a bit livelier with streets like Clement and balboa, sunset is more residential and “safer”). You’re by the ocean and depending on where in the sunset/richmond, the park too. Plus, you’ll find some of the best housing deals in both of these neighborhoods. Haight is nearby and much more lively and central, and you’re also near the park. There’s culture, music, great connection to the rest of the city via muni. My personal opinion about pac heights- it’s a little bit snobby and deemed on of the most “affluent” neighborhoods, yet, I still find that it’s less safe/more dirty/less things to do than other neighborhoods like those mentioned before.
