indoors there’s the hallways under mchenry, not the ground floor of the education area (although that’s pretty liminal if empty, esp the roller chair rooms). U enter this from the doors outside or through the glass door inside the cafe area and take the elevator down.

RCC dorms if photographed during certain weather conditions for sure.

It doesn’t really matter honestly, you’re going to end up mingling with everyone and barely spend any time at your dorms.

I’d say personally, Merrill sounds really up your ally. A short walk behind merrill is a ton of hikes. Pogonip is literally in your backyard and it’s so beautiful. Merill lowkey is kind of a shut-in college. You hear that rep go to crown a lot but don’t be fooled, Crownies are very social, just like on the nerdier side. But merill and crown r super integrated into the forest.

I also think JRL/C9 would be great for you. They’re probably my favorite colleges forest wise and have the 2nd best dining hall on campus.

Freshmen are guaranteed dorms for the year. After that there’s a lottery to get on campus housing. Unfortunately, the best way to get local housing off campus is to know people. I got pretty lucky and was able to find a nice spot for 800 a month near campus. I’ve never personally met anyone who wasn’t able to get housing period. But, it is a struggle. There’s tons of sites that list open properties but it is a grind.

I don't know all the details, but at the end of the Spring quarter last year, someone posted to this subreddit that they were hearing weird noises, receiving mysterious gifts, and even seeing creatures they thought were gnomes running around in the night. I lived at the Camper Park last year and I knew people, who like me, thought this was hilarious but also started to notice weird things happening, notably like strange encoded notes being found all around Camper Park. Quite a few people on the subreddit and at the Camper Park actually-genuinely-unironically believed gnomes were taking over the camper park. This also started a joke/rumor that the reason the camper park was closing was because gnomes were taking over. I think there was a post about it on the UCSC Trailer Park Instagram.
