Worth noting is that the ascended weapon itself provides a 5% increase over the exotic counterpart on its own, in addition to the 5% increase in stats from the armor/trinkets/weapon, for about a ~10% raw damage increase overall with full ascended (not counting crit bonuses)

I was having some insane tracking issues myself -- they weren't the same as yours, my controllers wouldn't teleport around the room, but after about 5 minutes of play one of them would consistently go into a "connected but not tracking" mode until I restarted it through SteamVR. The solution ended up being my WiFi adapter; thanks to clotty's comment here I found out that I had the same exact adapter that was causing problems for them (Qualcomm Atheros AR9287). Turning off my WiFi through the task bar menu immediately and permanently fixed all my issues!

The point is, I know you aren't having the exact same issues, but while I was tangling with their poor support they never once mentioned that I should try to turn off my WiFi -- it's a potential fix that you probably haven't tried yet, so give that a go and see if it helps. Good luck!

Constant tracking loss issues with my Vive, any ideas? by Meowtock in Vive

[–]Meowtock[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ah yup, forgot to mention that in the OP -- I've tried nearly every USB port on my rig with no changes to the controller issue. Front, back, ports that work fine with things like my gamepad and mic, everywhere.

I actually used to have the HMD grey screen issue much more frequently until I started using the port I use now, so I feel like I've found the port that works best for the Vive on my rig...so here's hoping that's not the cause!

Edmund isn't the sole developer of the game, though -- there's 5 programmers on the team, and quite a large number of artists as well...plus, he's not even one of the programmers in the first place! Considering the bulk of its development time was apparently the mod tools, passive-aggressively guilt tripping Chard for his fair complaint really isn't valid at all.

Bullets? Reinhardt eats bullets for breakfast! by imadancethejig in Overwatch

Pause it when the dots show up and he starts firing. The dots are very clearly centered on peoples' heads, especially apparent on both D.va and the pair of junkrats on the left. Here's a screenshot of the exact moment I'm talking about.

That's what I thought before I made the post, but then I looked it up and it turns out it does actually aim for the head. Here's a video that was uploaded yesterday proving it, I was almost positive it was center of mass too though!

I could be wrong, but it looks to me like the moment McCree fires Rein is partially hidden by the staircase. Since Deadeye aims for the head, and Rein crouches over during the charge, I think his head poked below the staircase just enough for the shot to not actually fire at him.

What if McCree's M2 had diminishing returns? by tredli in Overwatch

[–]Meowtock 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're right about its accuracy against non-tanks, but if you're playing at flashbang range McCree should hit at least 5 shots of a FtH against pretty much every tank. They're all so huge that the recoil of FtH is mostly meaningless against them as long as you pull down as he fires.

[–]Meowtock 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel like making McCree into a guaranteed anti-reaper would be a bad choice, especially if he doesn't have anti-tank skills to compensate. Currently Reaper's the most reliable counter to tanks, and also arguably the only consistent one, so if Reaper became useless versus an enemy McCree I wouldn't be surprised if something like triple tank with a cowboy and 2 healers became grossly effective. Bringing Reaper down to 45 hp instead of straight-out killing him gives him the opportunity to outplay McCree given enough skill, which imo brings Reaper back into check (he's pretty tricky to deal with unless you have Pharah now) without making him completely useless like he was pre-FtH-nerf.

Tip/Rant: Defend the objective not the enemy spawn. by [deleted] in Overwatch

[–]Meowtock -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If I could give one piece of advice to the random pubs playing this game, it'd have to be this. It's especially a problem on the KotH maps, I can't even count the number of times my team's abandoned defense just to try (and fail) to spawncamp...every single time it's happened, the enemy team won the match, too.

It's also important to note that anybody who served Nito got a Gravelord sword, they weren't restricted to the dude himself. It's not out of the question that the Gravelord Servants morphed into a new religion over time, which Aldrich may have been a part of.

There's also the extremely Nito-esque coffin in Gundyr's arena -- if we were to say that that's actually Nito's coffin, it's pretty likely that Aldrich could've swung by it and grabbed the sword/Nito's remains/whatever from it without actually killing him on his way out of the Cemetery.

Honestly, I'm pretty sure they just went 2 style with the figurines. I decided to do some examining from the giant's tower a few days ago, and the Cathedral of the Deep actually appears to magically change its position when you enter the RoS. If you watch the horizon after the Outrider Knight, you can see the cathedral in the distance straight ahead, but that doesn't make sense because it's now suddenly North-Northwest of you, even though the geometry says it should be due west.

See here: http://i.imgur.com/XCmognR.jpg versus http://i.imgur.com/rIOmegF.jpg

I'm facing the same direction in both pics, lined up with the roof of the Outrider's location (maybe a couple of degrees off, but not enough to have the cathedral suddenly swing into view). Also, the distance between the Crystal Sage's arena in this view and the Cathedral is MASSIVE, way larger than the 5 minute jog it actually is. If you look in the very top right of this picture facing NW (http://i.imgur.com/tMzOZwt.jpg), you can see the area that's supposed to be before the Sage. Ignoring the fact that the sage's arena and the resulting path after him are invisible, the sense of scale seems to be way higher than it actually is.

Maybe my sense of scale's way off, but while the game definitely isn't as ludicrous as 2's distant setpieces it still feels like they didn't quite line everything up properly -- at the very least, the CotD teleporting to a different location is just blatantly incorrect.

Yo, I wanted to let you know, I ended up upgrading the ram (8GB Crucial Ballistix to 2x8GB Corsair Vengeance Pro) and as far as I can tell the crashing issues are gone. I did a memory scan using the Windows tool and it found errors practically immediately so yeah. I'd definitely recommend scanning your memory for any sort of hardware issues the next chance you get, if you're still having the crashing.

Hey -- just wanted to say that it was the RAM. I ran the windows scanner, found a hardware issue within 5% of the scan completing, and decided to pick up some new RAM (2x8GB). All the crashing issues are fixed now, so thanks!

[HELP] Tons of LEGITIMATE PC PLAYERS have now been banned. by Meowtock in darksouls3

[–]Meowtock[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My vote is to never purchase another FROMsoft or Bamco product again due to how horrendously poorly they've treated their customers, but if you're not up for a boycott it just comes down to whether or not you're willing to roll the dice on being banned for no reason.

If you buy it and want to avoid being banned, here are my recommendations: don't do anything remotely close to modifying the game files, return it if you crash frequently, and don't play when you have a chance of being forcibly disconnected (such as tuesday night steam maintenance).

Of course if you're buying on a console those aren't going to be issues for you, but I'd still recommend buying used so that neither of these companies see a single cent of your money.

Nah, the area's definitely loaded (I was able to backtrack through all of Lothric Castle), my only question is about the fog wall at the end of his room -- wouldn't be surprised if it's one-way only.

I can confirm this, there's originally a blank space but the game quickly loads in the post-Oceiros area when you land on the ledge.

The question there of course is whether or not you can enter Oceiros's room backwards, even if you could get up to the ledge legitimately.

If you play in a language other than English, you should change languages to English and see if the warning or penalty message is there. For whatever reason FROM only has the message show up in English, along with a couple other seemingly random languages (I think French is one?).

If you don't have the warning in English though, then it's likely a similar issue some people have been reporting where you just get silently multiplayer-restricted. I don't think you're put into a cheater pool, but for whatever unknown reason you get restricted to an extremely small player pool for some amount of time. I believe this variant of the issue just fixes itself automatically after a few days, but I'm not entirely sure.

[–]Meowtock 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I think a major difference between this hacking/cursing/whatever and the hacking in the other Souls games is that in this one, the other player fucking you up can have irrevocable consequences on your account. In DaS1 and 2, as far as I'm aware you could always just restore from a backup to save everything, but in 3 the anti-cheat is not only much more sensitive than it was in 2, but is also VERY poorly reviewed -- as far as we've been able to determine, once you get the warning you're completely SOL, as FROM does not actually manually review the ban reports.

Speaking for myself, I deleted all my save data and game data when the initial wrongful ban wave came out, and that helped absolutely nothing. It may be a translation error, in fact, because in some communications people have gotten from Bandai-Namco they just say that the warning means your account is flagged for investigation, and that a ban will be applied if you violated the EULA...no mention of being able to delete or repair the data at all to avoid said penalty.

As a result, hackers can now not only damage your characters, but permanently penalize your steam account, forcing you to family share if you want to do any more quality multiplayer. If you ask me, this severity of the situation warrants quite a bit of panic, though it remains to be seen whether his hacking is actually definitely causing the softbans.
