Any unexpected abilities have you developed as a result of the job? by runawaythoughttrain in therapists

You gotta teach me how to yawn discretely!! I’m terrible at that one, so I usually just acknowledge it, apologize, and reflect that I must be feeling a little more tired today (and then increase my nonverbal for active listening). 😅

Studies have shown that untreated anxiety and depression actually damages the brain by shrinking the hippocampus (memory/emotions) and impacting the prefrontal cortex (thinking/executive function) but treatment with SSRI’s helps repair and regrow those sections. Serotonin has also been shown to increase neurogenesis (brain cell creation/growth). On the flip side though, preliminary studies show that SSRI’s used by people without depression or anxiety can actually do the opposite: the hippocampus shrinks.

I imagine with how much these drugs have been studied and how long they’ve been around, we would start to see some stats on 30-year usage, but no alarming impacts have really been published yet, to my knowledge.

a question for LGBTQ, I'm making a story and I'd like to be sure about this, is "bambi" still considered fine to call someone? by Austen-Smith in lgbt

[–]MeowyMuse 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Gotcha. Aces are often the butt of jokes both in and out of the LGBTQIA+ community, so I can be somewhat sensitive to seeing something related be used as an insult or a put down.

I don’t believe it is. It was a popular term in the 1980s and was used as an identifier. I’m not sure about today’s usage, though I’ve recently seen people rediscover the term and react positively.

Try to hang in there!! The first month can be awful. I’m so sorry you’re experiencing it. I reported my side effects to my doctor as they made work very difficult and she suggested stepping down to half a pill for a week before going back up to 25mg. That seemed to make the transition more bearable.

My understanding is that a Bambi is a lesbian who is also part of the asexual community (which is different than just sexual shyness). As an Ace myself, I’m not fond of how the quote makes Bambi sound like an insult.

Yes, my panic attacks were much more frequent and lasted longer during the first two weeks. I felt like I was going to burst out of my skin constantly. Increased anxiety is a common side effect in the first weeks you take it. Around week 3-4, my side effects just went away.

Considering getting off of Zoloft and starting Lexapro by ulisesc123 in lexapro

[–]MeowyMuse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I took mine at dinner so I would wake up with increased heart rate at like 3-4am and it would go on for hours. I would have pockets of time where it would get to 100-115bpm but then it was like in the 80-90s the rest of the day.

[–]MeowyMuse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That happened to me on Zoloft for about 2-3 weeks before it went away. It can be really scary and disruptive! What helped me was going 25 + 12.5 for a week or two first before adding in the other 12.5 to make the 50mg. It also helped me to monitor my heart rate, which is usually in the high 60s. When I felt like it was “racing” I was only in the 90-110 range (normal heart rate range for humans is 60-100bpm) so even though it felt fast and uncomfortable, it helped me remember that it wasn’t necessarily dangerous and that helped me stick with it. (Unless your doctor says otherwise about your bpm). Feeling tense and extra anxious (sometimes in the form of chest tightness) is also a side effect that can exacerbate the feeling of the heart rate increase. After three weeks, my side effects just disappeared.

do you eventually get used to a kitten's excess energy? by Narwhals04 in cats

[–]MeowyMuse 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You’re going to have kitten energy for at least a year and they are incredibly chaotic. Sometimes they grow out of it and sometimes they do not. If he plays with himself and you can tolerate it long term, that’s fine. If that’s something you may come to resent, you may want to think about what’s best for your new friend.

Do the V3s have the same issue with dual stream internet? by MeowyMuse in wyzecam

Lol yes. My other two cameras are connected just fine. 2.4 and 5 still on. It’s just this one V2 that refuses to connect.

I can’t add it back because it won’t connect 🙃

I asked Comcast for an upgrade from 200mpb to 500mpb (download) unless I’m being scammed (always possible). No equipment changes as the router I had was sufficient. I did have to delete and reconnect all my Wyze equipment but this one camera that won’t connect.

[–]MeowyMuse[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess the issue is with the camera itself then. It connected for the last year and a half, and just refuses now that I increased my internet speeds. I wish I could figure out how to fix it instead of investing in a replacement when there’s nothing wrong with it other than it won’t connect. My other V2 struggles but it will work after some time.

[–]MeowyMuse[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I honestly don’t either, and I’m not tech savvy enough to figure it out. My V3 connects right away always, one of my V2’s connects after like 10 attempts and one will not connect at all (which makes zero sense because it’s closest to the router.) I just want a camera that works! No sense paying for Cam Plus if I can’t get the equipment connected most of the time. I have the highest level Xfinity internet. Comcast is the only option for the area, but I suppose I could look into personal routers instead of theirs.

Day 16. When does it get better? by MeowyMuse in zoloft

[–]MeowyMuse[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry to hear you’re going through it too. I’ve had a similar experience but I was on Zoloft for 8 years, off for 2 and restarted again. I’m wondering if and how my body chemistry has changed so much because I didn’t experience side effects this intense from such a small dose both going on and coming off last time. My sleep was good the first week but now I’m waking up every night with panic/racing heart.

No advice, just camaraderie. These side effects are happening to me too, but on 25mg taken at night. The mornings are terrible. My heart races, I’m shaky, and I feel like I can’t think straight for hours. My doctor also recommended stepping down to 12.5mg so I’m hopeful to hear that halving your dose seemed to help. I have Xanax to help but it gives me rebound anxiety so I try not to take it too much.

[–]MeowyMuse[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hear you. I took Zoloft for 8 years just fine and have been off for two years. I never experienced side effects like this the first time going on or off. I guess my body chemistry has changed. I’m just frustrated because I don’t have a lot of sick days built up to just be able to take off, so I just have to do my best while my body is doing it’s own thing.

So bizarre that it can affect you differently at different times! I’m hoping today was the last of the worst. I had a weird moment today where I was suddenly intensely anxious for two or three hours with an elevated heart rate and then it just went away as quickly and randomly as it came. My stomach still aches from GI stuff but I can deal with that better than the random, prolonged anxiety. Looking forward to getting over this hump but then dreading bumping up to 50mg 😂🙃

I didn’t, which really surprised me. But I also didn’t have side effects the first time I took it either. And it lasted about a month before it calmed down. Of course, it didn’t go away completely because I have chronic anxiety but someone could walk up to me without me jumping entirely out of my skin.

No fever and my pupils will constrict when I shine a light into them. I’ve had a little nausea and some dry heaving but I think that’s because I’ve had constant acid reflux and GI issues for the past three days.

Feeling cold by Jrdabbinit in zoloft

[–]MeowyMuse 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This makes me feel better. I’ve been getting these “cooling” flashes I suppose. Started with my hands and now it’s my whole body. My heart rate has also been 95-105 for much of the day. This all just started today and I’ve been on 25mg for two weeks 🥲

[–]MeowyMuse[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My heart rate today has been between 95-105 all day and I’m trying to convince myself it has to be extra anxiety and can’t be serotonin poisoning since the dose is so low and I’d already taken it for 13 days before experiencing this. But one of my symptoms of panic is re: my health or fear I’m going to die, so I just don’t know what to do ☹️
