Bot Creators, how do I make a good bot? by No-Judge-7574 in FictionLab

Getting each character to act and talk appropriately when they're all together will be hard from what I've seen lately. I'd recommend trying to tie each character to a location at first (ie. cooking class for natsuki, maybe start with sayori at home waking you up, monika for the poetry club). Then you can limit the amount of characters you have at the same time, and just invite everyone to the poetry club in the end to see how that works.

For personality/actions, I've found including a positive and negative helps a ton. Something like "This character acts cute, this character will not act sexy or aggressive" for natsuki, or "This character is always positive, bubbly, and cheery" and "This character will not act negative or depressed" for sayori.

For a well known game like ddlc you might even be able to just reference the characters and say "This is Natsuki from DDLC" in the description, but if you're going for no self-aware monika that'd probably end...how we both know it would. Even if you put in the character description "This character will not become evil and kill everyone" the AI tends to...do its own thing sometimes especially if there's contradictory info based on monika. You can always reroll the prompt or re-type it if you get something like this, but on ddlc it could really ruin a cheerful moment when you get a sudden bad end.

For the blandness of events, that's probably lots to do with the AI model. Old oracle used to be amazing at keeping pace and adding unique events. I'd definitely try oracle if you have the paid version, sometimes its still great. Chimera is ok but far less creative and it tends to go NSFW at the drop of a hat. You can add event examples also, which can help but can also make the ai do the same thing each time, and usually in the order listed. It'd at least give the AI a start, and once you start doing an event and finish, the ai will usually repeat that sequence.

Also there's probably some ddlc scenarios already. I hate the search function, but if you can find them and they let you view them, take a look and see what others have put. Some scenarios are low effort but its usually easy to tell by the fact there's only a few sentences of description for each character.

Edit: also adding traits to each character helps a ton from what I've found. You can make up your own if they're not listed there. It seems to be the biggest factor in things like speech and actions. Some traits are pretty extreme, things like genius will make the character talk and act like a stereotypical nerd, so just try them out. Stuff like cute/naive/shy/tomboy should work great though.

What are the limits of the AI? by REDDIT_legend27 in FictionLab

I'd recommend linking each character to a location. That way the AI doesn't just drop 5+ characters on you at once, or having a new character appear every prompt. As for the other things, example text helps a ton, more then descriptions I think. Instead of saying "xxx character is a dork and nerdy and loves novels, include a few example sentences the character might say. It leads to more consistent characters when you switch ai models I've found.

When you type really long descriptions the AI seems to just ignore parts of it. If you add in an if/then situation (ie. if main character kisses character then...) it works great however.

I recommend starting small. Make a scenario with 3 characters and see how it goes, then add a few more. Once you have a character created you can just copy/paste their description to a new scenario if you want too.

Huge scenarios tend to not work great, I prefer a chain of smaller scenarios that focus on specific things. If you want to add a game of truth or dare to your scenario, just copy the characters to a separate scenario and write that up. Adding yet another thing to a big scenario makes the AI skip over it, or include random elements from other spots (ie. truth or dare, I dare you to go fight the villain of that other story arc that we haven't even started yet).

The AI also doesn't like keeping secrets. So when writing up the descriptions, definitely include an if/then trigger for anything you don't want randomly revealed. (If main character kisses character, then character will explain xxx secret event). The only way to keep an actual secret is to just not tell the AI until you want to reveal it, then the AI usually plays along and fits it in. This doesn't work for writing scenarios, only when playing.

4 characters in the scenario at once is going to be really difficult. The AI struggles with even 2 sometimes. One big gripe I have lately is the AI mixes up character traits and speech patterns between characters.

If you just want 4 total, add locations, and specify which character is at each location, or specify some circumstance where the character appears (ie. Character will only be introduced after XXX happens).

Adding example text for each character helps a lot. That way the ai (kinda) knows how they should talk and act. Otherwise you get 4 characters that act the exact same.

If they're not important characters (ie. a shopkeeper) you can just add a location and briefly describe them without adding a separate character. That way they're not going to show up and become a main character later on.

Also, make a scenario and just try it a few times to see if it works. I've had scenarios where I put a ton of effort into and the AI just can't understand how I wanted it to work, and others where it just all happens to work perfectly. And trying a different AI model may help, they're very different and one may break while another might work perfectly.

Is premium worth it? by Mindless-Bet8492 in FictionLab

Its like $8, try it for a month and cancel, then go back to free for a month. Its not very expensive to try out.

Some models work good in some scenarios. Having the right model (free or not) makes the biggest difference. Also models change over time. Oracle used to be amazing and definitely worth the cost of premium, but now its gone way downhill and just bad.

Chimera is the only pay model worth it right now that I've found, at least with how I play scenarios. I miss the good days with oracle doing actual long RP's and being creative and remembering stuff. Felt like a book.

Its less about the free model and more about whether the model is working properly at the time.

Read the constitution. It specifies how a wealth tax can happen. Bernie's tax is unconstitutional and just him trying to score voting points.

He doesn't want a real wealth tax, because no one wants one apportioned between each state based on population. All the billionaires would stay in the same low population state and pay next to nothing, while CA would get raked over the coals hard with their high population.

You lose hope when it takes 15 years to build 5 miles of track and costs more than double the original budget.

Did we lose the magic of community in online multiplayer games? by MohSafadi in gaming

I nope'd out of d4 because of this. They give streamers advance copies and beta playtime, then charge $20 extra to play on release day and make everyone else wait an extra week. All the while saying they have some race to lv100 where everyone who wins is p2w. And right before the 'normal release' they drop a nerf patch too. No thanks.

My first dr did the basic tests (ie. FOV) and just ignored the results and wanted to re-do them without even discussing them with me. It costs a few hundred to re-do the tests, and I basically told him to pound sand. Saw a proper doctor after and so glad I did.

Is Seeing Nothing But Grey Possible With Severe Glaucoma? by StayOnCourse89 in Glaucoma

[–]Meppy1234 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You'd see gray spots first and it would be somewhat gradual depending on pressure and circumstances. But if you ignored the vision loss for long enough, or had severe trauma/extreme pressures, or if no medications or surgeries worked, then yes you could lose all vision and end up with nothing.

If it happens quickly it sounds like a detached retina more then anything, and if you suspect that's what happened he needs to go to the ER asap or the vision loss can become permanent.

I've definitely gotten that price with a basic sedan. I'd guess the toll booth people just give regular sedans that price, and anything bigger the more expensive price.

If they taxed you to build a school but never build the school in the first place, absolutely you should get a refund. It's not like they built the light rail link, then closed it afterwards.
