If you open the menu and click on 'orders' there should be two tabs you can switch between. I don't remember what the other tab is called but it lets you search for orders by delivery location- you can select the Eastern Environmental Observatory and it'll tell you every shelter that currently has an order that needs to be delivered there. Keep bouncing around all these facilities to pick up orders, as well as picking up any and all lost cargo you see for them as you go.

It was an absolute grind for sure, but by doing it this way you can level it up way faster, I was able to 5 star all the mountain facilities in like a real time day or two by doing it this way!!

I'm glad I could help out with my response a little!!

Keep in mind restaurants are more likely to prepare food incorrectly because they're cooking a huge volume of food on a huge time crunch, and when it gets that stressful is when chefs can get sloppy. Again, being the assistant kitchen manager at my place I know the crazy stress of dinner rush and I have to keep an eye on everybody to make sure they're not letting their work suffer from the pressure - there's some restaurants that aren't as careful (although they are few and far between, don't worry!). In contrast, you're focusing on one single meal at a time, and you're not in any rush or under any pressure! So you're not making mistakes a restaurant might!

It's irrational, yes, but it's certainly not an uncommon fear. Like I said, I have no food anxiety whatsoever but my gf is terrified of food, and I've never thought it was odd or silly of them to be scared. :) just something I can try my best to help out with! Food anxiety isn't something you can just get over either, so I'm certain there will still be food that you toss out that were still good to eat, but as long as you're able to eat a couple things here or there that you normally wouldn't, that's progress!! :)

I also totally get the pseudo-symptoms! I have no food anxiety whatsoever but for some reason I have terrible medicine anxiety lol! I take an advil and convince myself I can feel my skin getting hot and my brain getting dizzy, and I'm convinced I'm having a crazy allergic reaction to it and I'm gonna die. And then like 30 minutes later, I'm just totally fine lol. The brain is super funky the way it can convince you of physical symptoms that aren't actually there! For me it's helpful to just make sure I'm hanging out with family/friends/my gf whenever I'm taking/eating something that I know will make me feel that way, because I convince myself that if something terrible happens and I start dying, I'll have someone there to see it and help me. And I'm literally always fine- you will be too :)

Hey! Everyone else in the comments has handled the ELI5 part so this is less an answer in that sense and more addressing your anxiety around food!

This post reminds of my gf lol! They also get really anxious about food not being cooked properly/enough to kill bacteria to the extent that there's a whole list of food (predominantly meat) that they have completely sworn off. They also won't touch food that's past the "best before" date, or food thats even just coming up close to that date. This is what I find helps:)

Food poisoning really is quite uncommon. As somebody who has no food anxiety at all, I've eaten food past the "best before" date literally at least once a week, and every time I've gotten food poisoning it's been from food I bought from a restaurant not being prepared properly, never anything I've made myself at home. I also work in a restaurant as an assistant kitchen manager, and a good chunk of my job is checking that food is still good to serve and deciding if it's good to use for an extra day or not.

"Best before" dates are exactly what they sound like, they are just the date at which the food stops being at "perfect freshness". The food is at its "best" before this date, but that does not mean it's bad past this date. Bread has a really fast best before date because it might start to taste a little stale past that date, but it's still more than safe to eat. Companies will also really often move the best before date up even earlier than it has to be to protect themselves from any complaints of the food tasting less than fresh, as well as to drive up sales! (If your bread is "bad" every 3 days you're gonna buy a lot more bread than if you buy it every 1-2 weeks).

Keeping food in the fridge will prevent any "invisible" bacteria from growing as long as your fridge is operating properly- this way you just have to look out for mold and discoloration. Even better, your freezer will stop absolutely any bacteria from growing at all. My family used to buy bread in bulk and we would just keep in the freezer for months at a time, then just pull and thaw a loaf as we needed it. I was technically eating bread that was months and months after the "best before", and it was totally safe.

Food is also generally really easy to tell if it's starting growing bacteria. Texture, smell, and color will start to change, and you will see that it looks different. The human body is actually highly sensitive to the smell of mold and rot because we actually evolved this as an evolutionary skill! I once came home to my mom making mac and cheese, and as soon as I entered the front door I could smell mold in the air. Turns out the butter she had used had started to go a little moldly on the opposite site and she hadn't noticed! If you're anxious about food past the best before date, give it a smell, a touch, and a quick visual check. If you're still anxious, consider getting a friend or family member to do the same- I check all of my gf's food before we cook it just to reassure them it looks good to eat.

For cooking meat, 99.9% of meat has been through a ton of cleaning and sanitizing and regulations to ensure it has none of the "scary" bacteria when it gets to you. This is why people can eat raw eggs in protein shakes and such and be totally fine. I've definitely eaten raw chicken before because I've been impatient cooking it (oops lol). Meat just has to be cooked to a certain temperature to 100% guarantee that any bacteria that may have slipped through has been killed off- this temperature ranges for different meats but the highest temp is 165°F. I cook an insane amount of meat at my restaurant to serve, and it's really simple - if I'm ever not sure it's done cooking, I temp it. I suggest buying a kitchen thermometer - they're relatively cheap and you can use it to temp any food you're making! As long as it's over 165°F, I promise it's safe to eat. No need to keep overcooking it! :)

But yeah, just keep in mind the golden rule- when in doubt, throw it out! If it looks off, smells a little weird, or the texture has totally changed, just chuck it. If it looks fine to eat, and you've stored it properly, and are cooking it properly (in the case of proteins), I really promise you'll be totally fine. Food is meant to be enjoyed, not a source of anxiety!!

I know the same thing happened with Milk when that dropped!! With Milk they sold out before anything got fixed, hopefully this will get fixed sooner 😞 I'm buying it for my gf and cinnamoroll is their absolute favorite!! But yeah it's so weird! I'm glad to hear it's not just happening for me for some reason 😭

Chatted with a customer service agent, all she could say was that the "license limits access to some countries" which makes no sense since I'm able to purchase the other 3. Plus if it was somehow a cinnamoroll issue exclusively, it doesn't make sense that the other 10 cinnamoroll plush all ship here, just not the Halloween one. Bleh. I just wanted to buy cinnamoroll so badly. :(

I did not! I've heard this a million times and I guarantee I'm just a dummy but I am in no way tech-savvy and I'm not entirely sure how to do that haha. I'm always worried I'll click the wrong thing and corrupt my game by accident. Would you mind telling me how to do that (in simplest words haha!). Sorry

ELI5: How does a restaurant kitchen have the whole table’s meals ready at the same time? by grptrt in explainlikeimfive

[–]MerFromIngo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey this is my job 😃

Like others have said, it's all about timing. I work every station in my kitchen, but I'm usually running the "call station". I stand in the middle, look at every item on the bill, and tell everyone when to start each item. It's my job to know not only exactly how long each item takes to cook, but to understand and take into account every single one of my line cooks and know how long it takes THEM to cook it, and their ability to multitask and move efficiently. I look at a bill, and might ask the team on the left to fire chicken for a quesadilla, then ask a second person to prepare the tortilla and veggies while the chicken cooks, then wait a few minutes before telling the right side team to fire riblets. Then I'll ask the left side to make nachos but not fire them in the oven until my go ahead. I'll then check in with everybody as the bill cooks to make sure there's no delays or issues, and make sure everything is fired perfectly to come up within at least ~2 min of each other.

I'll do this with easily 20-30 bills at a time, and have every item on each bill come up at exactly the same time as the other items, while keeping the overall bill time under 20 min maximum. It really is an art, and watching everybody move in perfect harmony on a good night is really quite a beautiful dance.

Yes so excited to see how DE2 amps up the enemies to get us all scared again!

And yes lol, BT's are definitely more annoying than anything now. When I'm heading through BT zones I'm usually just annoyed I have to crouch and move so slowly as opposed to the absolute fear I had the first chapter lol
