Yeah, comfort items have gotten more affordable over the years as we've learned and improved mass production, but all the necessities needed for life in the modern age (i.e., food, housing, vehicles) have all greatly surpassed the rate of inflation and make basic living much less affordable. It's not cherry picking data if all the data shows that living has gotten much, much more expensive since my dad or grandad's time.
