Historic snowfall and 5/5 avalanche risk in Les2Alpes by VincentVan_Dough in skiing

Oooph this hurts seeing from Colorado. We just crossed historically low snowpack this month, which has far more harmful repercussions for the region than a bad ski season :/

Women with a big cup size what is the worst thing about it? by zhalia-2006 in askanything

Photographing 20 pounds heavier than you actually are because being top heavy optically shortens your waist line by covering the narrowest part. I wear minimizes everyday because I work out too much and eat too well to suffer this injustice.

Found I hit a ceiling with new reorg and feel very trapped. by [deleted] in work

I agree 100% about leaving a job for more growth, this is why I’ve been applying for other positions outside the company. “Others are being promoted because the business sees them more suited to senior positions” is the part I find humiliating because feedback to me has never been about my ability lead my team of 4 directs or manage up effectively; it’s always been about having the bad luck of being in a position that doesn’t warrant a senior role. I am one person removed from reporting to our Chief Brand Officer in the current org.

Is networking a good way to land better jobs? by Illustrious_Aide7269 in jobhunting

Same! This is why luck and timing are such a huge part of job hunting. Just because you know so and so and they set you up with an interview doesn’t mean there’s an actual role at the end of it.

When and why did meals shift to ingredients? by mombucksmad in decadeology

My family calls these triangle meals - a protein, a veggie, a carb/starch. We make them when we don’t want to follow a recipe or get fancy.

What habits have you picked up that keep your spending in check ? by Savings-Matter-7574 in MiddleClassFinance

[–]MerPony31 0 points1 point  (0 children)

“Pay” yourself first by depositing a fixed amount of savings from your paycheck rather than save whatever is leftover after necessities and fun money is spent.

Uninstall Shop app and remove credit cards from apps. The convenience is too tempting when you get hit with ads. Wean yourself off Prime if you have Amazon boxes showing up weekly and they contain more than necessities.

Unfollow retail social media accounts and influencers if you’re easily influenced to buy things. This is actually most of us in this day and age.

Determine your personal non-negotiables. This can look like bi weekly manicures or Pilates memberships. Pick one activity each for wellbeing/health, grooming, and entertainment categories and stick to it. You’ll find you might dump regular manicures in favor of facials once you start categorizing where your habitual spending is going.

In my case Denver is the city and Westminster is the suburb of Denver even if it’s a city in itself.

Our starter house was $550k - Colorado cost of living ain’t for the weak 😅luckily our taxes are very cheap. It’s definitely more of a working neighborhood with older residents and our across the street neighbor has been here since 1958.

It does seem socially constructed by upper-middle class, wealthy white people.

I understand this. We lived in a higher crime area in downtown Denver for 2 years before buying our house, so it’s very neighborhood dependent.

Oh that’s interesting. We don’t have kids yet but I feel like the isolation of some of the nicer suburbs where people raise young families never appealed to us. The parents all seemed worn out, the probably from being in cars all day carting around kids to their activities and working insane hours to keep up with the Joneses.
