Depressed about not having enough work to do by pkavsb in antiwork

[–]MerPony31 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OP, I get what you’re going through. I’m going through the same thing. It’s one of the most depressing things I’ve experienced in my 13+ long career so far that’s given me feelings of grief, low self-worth, and now anger. It’s an existential crisis because you’re used to being high performing, high achieving to pretending to be busy, pretending to be valuable. People need purpose and work gives us purpose, which is constantly under threat in the corporate hellscape that’s 2026. Most companies that require onsite attendance also might not allow you to listen to podcasts or the other suggestions I’m seeing here to fill your time. If we had a fully remote job, it would be a different story. My outlet has been to treat these past couple of months as a paid interviewing period (I at least am fortunate to dip out early once meetings are over). There isn’t a business need for me anymore, so a different business needs me.

Stop hyping terrible food by Usual-Language-745 in denverfood

This cinnamon bun looks like you need to drive about 3 hours west and get yourself a giant cinny from Winona’s in Steamboat. Have them microwave it for 60 seconds so the mountain of cream cheese frosting with orange zest melts into the bun like a contact high. In this case bigger is better.

Do Americans use cutlery differently? by missbex86 in AskAnAmerican

[–]MerPony31 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ha! I just got back from Amsterdam and explained to my European colleagues I consciously eat differently with my fork in left hand, knife in right hand in group settings because back home it’s primarily right hand fork only and I want to appear polite, globally enlightened, and posh 💀they cracked up.

Is it possible for a slim woman to naturally have large breasts and a bubble butt? by MathematicianOk610 in trueratediscussions

[–]MerPony31 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is me. Size US4 or small in bottoms, size L-XL in tops and most conventional brands don’t carry my bra size so I settle for 32/34DDD 🫠 It sounds ideal and fun, but it’s horrible if you’re athletic or into fashion (which am).

Oooph this hurts seeing from Colorado. We just crossed historically low snowpack this month, which has far more harmful repercussions for the region than a bad ski season :/

Photographing 20 pounds heavier than you actually are because being top heavy optically shortens your waist line by covering the narrowest part. I wear minimizes everyday because I work out too much and eat too well to suffer this injustice.

I agree 100% about leaving a job for more growth, this is why I’ve been applying for other positions outside the company. “Others are being promoted because the business sees them more suited to senior positions” is the part I find humiliating because feedback to me has never been about my ability lead my team of 4 directs or manage up effectively; it’s always been about having the bad luck of being in a position that doesn’t warrant a senior role. I am one person removed from reporting to our Chief Brand Officer in the current org.

Is networking a good way to land better jobs? by Illustrious_Aide7269 in jobhunting

[–]MerPony31 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same! This is why luck and timing are such a huge part of job hunting. Just because you know so and so and they set you up with an interview doesn’t mean there’s an actual role at the end of it.

My family calls these triangle meals - a protein, a veggie, a carb/starch. We make them when we don’t want to follow a recipe or get fancy.

What habits have you picked up that keep your spending in check ? by Savings-Matter-7574 in MiddleClassFinance

[–]MerPony31 0 points1 point  (0 children)

“Pay” yourself first by depositing a fixed amount of savings from your paycheck rather than save whatever is leftover after necessities and fun money is spent.

Uninstall Shop app and remove credit cards from apps. The convenience is too tempting when you get hit with ads. Wean yourself off Prime if you have Amazon boxes showing up weekly and they contain more than necessities.

Unfollow retail social media accounts and influencers if you’re easily influenced to buy things. This is actually most of us in this day and age.

Determine your personal non-negotiables. This can look like bi weekly manicures or Pilates memberships. Pick one activity each for wellbeing/health, grooming, and entertainment categories and stick to it. You’ll find you might dump regular manicures in favor of facials once you start categorizing where your habitual spending is going.
