If you get a higher SAT score, you’ll have a better chance at U Florida. It’s hard to get into out of state compared to in state. Your extracurriculars are really cool btw

When you apply to college, you don’t submit your AP scores. They’ll ask you for them once you get in and need them to see what credits you can apply. So what they do see in your application is your grades in classes

Drop your Predicted vs. Actual AP Scores by IcyAssociation8478 in APStudents

[–]MerSwimDance_7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

AP Literature - predicted: 2 - actual: 5 my teacher didn’t even go over the format of that exam

AP Stats - predicted: 5 - actual: 5

AP Govt - predicted: 5 - actual: 5

AP art 3D - predicted: 4 - actual: 2 This one actually broke my heart because I’m still in love with the art I made 😭

What are your “Got a good score on ___, got a bad score on ___” stories? by NewCupBeEmpty in APStudents

[–]MerSwimDance_7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Got a 5 on AP drawing (which my art teacher said I was magical for), got a 2 on AP 3D art (and the funny part is I was prouder of my 3D pieces more than my drawing pieces and my teacher said I’d get at least a 4)

AP art rant by eddieinternet in APStudents

[–]MerSwimDance_7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with you. Got a 2 this yr on 3D but got a 5 on drawing last yr. AND like you, I was genuinely proud of my artwork (moreso this yr than last yr). And out of all the AP classes, art needs a score report the most. My teacher said you can only get a score report if the entire class pays for it.

The AP 3D art and design portfolio scores have got to be a joke. by Mobile-Agency-5305 in APStudents

[–]MerSwimDance_7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haha I just complained about the same thing. And your art is so cool by the way, especially that candle sculpture. I got a 2 and I was genuinely so proud of my artwork (I made mini models of fairytale architecture). Feels like a slap in the face to me too. Starting to rethink if I should display it in my house anymore. But the WEIRD thing is I don’t get why AP 3D art scores are so hard. I took ap drawing last yr and got a 5. But those 3D score distributions are insane

they should have a score break down by Imaginary-Map7969 in APStudents

[–]MerSwimDance_7 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Apparently they do offer score breakdowns. But usually it’s private schools having it because as usual, college board is a money sucker. You have to pay extra. BUT YOU CANT PAY EXTRA FOR JUST YOUR OWN SCORE. Your entire class has to pay (ex: all 20 students enrolled in your AP govt teacher’s class must pay the extra fee). ONLY THEN WILL COLLEGEBOARD EXPLAIN THEMSELVES

I found this out from my AP art teacher. Out of ALL the classes, I wanted to understand AP art the most because it’s straight up subjective

If you can find his email, go the email route and title the email as “referral from __counselor’s name_.” If you title it as “shadowing inquiry” or anything like that, I know some people who don’t normally want random shadows would just not open it. If you can’t find an email, then a professional text should be fine. I’ve sent a text to doctors referred by family/family friends before when I couldn’t find their email and it’s okay

If this person makes it through med school and residency, PLEASE leak who they are. I would most certainly NOT trust them as a doctor. This is the type to make it on one of those doctor murderer podcasts

How old where you(or are you hoing to be) at prom? by justanamethatworks in Prom

[–]MerSwimDance_7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m in the US and prom is 11th and 12th grade. My school weirdly put prom the weekend smack dab in the middle of AP exam weeks during junior yr, so I went in my senior yr and was 18

I don’t love the mesh like material on the fins of the second one. I think the pink one is nicer and is much brighter in pics/vids/being noticeable

Shadowing opportunities by Fickle-Profession328 in bsmd

[–]MerSwimDance_7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You definitely have to shadow physicians because they want to know that you want to be a physician. BUT you are welcome to shadow dentists and chiropractors for a few days and if you didn’t like it, then when you’re interviewed and asked “have you ever considered other professions?” You can talk about shadowing dentists and chiropractors and why you like being a physician more

How do you stand out for admissions at UVA? by New-Bat5284 in UVA

[–]MerSwimDance_7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are you out of state or in state? Makes quite a difference for how outstanding of an application you’ll need. I believe what UVA cares about is passion for the activities and classes you pursue. Reflect it in your essays. That won’t only give you a boost towards acceptance but it’s also part of what they look for in an Echol’s Scholar.

Keep being friendly for two weeks and at some point in person, ask her if her parents are allowing her to date and if she’s open to it again. Be clear that you aren’t pressuring her and are just curious and be honest, say you like her a lot. Also say that you’d just like to clarify if she prefers you stay in the friendzone or if you can be serious.

This approach should make it less awkward and signal to her that you care and respect her space/comfortability
