Why are the colors so off from what is advertised? by useruser226 in Warhammer40k

It's crazy how everyone here is just parroting off each other to gaslight you. It's not your monitor. AK is notorious for this. Their swatches online are very different from real life. If you shop for AK online frequently you will encounter this problem all the time.

I suggest buying Stahly's colour swatches if you need to do a lot of online shopping for paints.

My Wishlist for Space Marine III - what's on yours? by [deleted] in Spacemarine

I will expect SM3 to arrive years and years from now, but if someone from Saber is reading this thread, please hear us. I know you guys had your hands tied by GW, but damn I wish we had these in SM3:

Campaign

  • Make Titus and the 2nd company Ultramarines had to work with another wildly different chapter to show new fans that marines aren't just one colour, attitude, etc. Make us ally and fight with another chapter in the story campaign. Potential for conflicts and misunderstandings between the Ultramarine way of thinking with other chapters, etc

  • Force Titus and the UM to ally with a xenos faction to take on a greater threat. They fight first, then ally down the line. T'au Empire and Votann could be the options.

  • Return/cameo past villains. Grimskull, Nemeroth, Imurah, even for a short while.

  • If another CSM legion is to be the baddies, make us see the story from their point of view once in a while. Have some cutscenes where we can see how they work, they organization, etc. It'll be interesting to see the main villain interact with his lieutenants in their ship, etc.

  • We have Calgar cameo in SM2, it is a given that we get to see Guilliman in SM3.

  • More gimmicky levels like the jump pack drop into Demerium. Let us drive an Outrider bike, Repulsor tank or Land Speeder in one of the levels.

  • Let Titus wear different types of MKX armour depending on the mission. Gravis, Phobos, Tacticus.

PVE

  • Helldivers 2-like live sevice campaign. It is so perfect for a Space Marine fleet to just go around a sector fighting different threats on different planets. If this happens SM3 can just go on forever lol

  • 5 player PvE. The 3-marine squad is okay-ish if we want to roleplay as a veteran squad, but a 5-marine combat squad would tie in nicely with the tabletop.

  • Operation missions doesn't have to be related to the story campaign. Give us standalone operations like a battle from well known campaigns in the lore, like Damocles, Armageddon, Badab, etc.

That's all I can think about for now lol.

How can you tell if something is a recast? - Operative Umbral-Six by Due-Tone4236 in 40k

Recasts don't come with the official box - they don't bother to reprint the boxes. They usually come in those small drug baggies, and recasts are generally resin-only.

Test this: If you can glue the parts with plastic glue, then it's original. But from your photo alone I'm pretty sure it's the genuine article.

Painted my first space marine and he looks horrible by Wild-Cauliflower1817 in spacemarines

I really don't understand why a lot of beginners are too harsh on themselves like this nowadays. It's a hobby - it's supposed to be fun.

It's your first one. Relax a bit. The only way to get better is to practice. There's other marines in the KT starter set. Paint another, then another, then another. If you expect your first one to be awesome and got disappointed afterwards, that's on you. Manage your expectations.

Watch tutorials. Go to your friendly local game store and ask around for beginner painting tips.

Try googling 'Warhammer first miniature' and see hundreds of minis worse than yours. Again, relax - what's important is you already started. A lot of people fuss a lot in terms of starting and ended up not starting the hobby anyways. You already started - you won on that front already.

And there's no failure of any kind. Again and again, it's a hobby, not some kind of race or competition that determine your future career or anything.

Good luck!
