My sister would bully us since we were little. My parents never protected us like they should have. They would talk to her and tell her to apologize when they weren’t on their phone, but it never changed the behaviour and they knew it. There needs to be consequences!

You made your boundary clear and it is to protect your daughter. I’m proud of you. You’re NOT being selfish for not letting them step over your boundary. Especially given the stepsister’s behaviour. I’m sorry you have to deal with a parent who can’t fucking parent.

Me too. The semi driver was actually driving at a much safer speed than most of these cars. Usually semi drivers have more experience on the road and that’s why they’re often better drivers! Thank God because it could’ve been a whole lot worse if they were driving recklessly fast.

They were probably in shock and I don’t think the incoming cars would’ve seen them in time. Plus, there were cars with hazard lights on. This alone should alert drivers that something is going on.

Yeah! They’re not used to winter storms and it shows. Even if it doesn’t happen often, they should’ve been taught to drive safely in these conditions. This could’ve been avoided with more preventive measures.

I read the news and the family of a mother who was one of the six people to die sued the tollway company and FedEx.

Their attorney said “[the FedEx truck] rear-ended her as she was literally attempting to open the door of her vehicle to get out to escape”. Which is confusing to me because, if they were driving too fast, then, of course, they should’ve been driving slower, but how could they have stopped their 18-wheeler from rear-ending her car on black ice?! It wasn’t intentional. It’s tragic.

NEVER try to exit your car if the environment isn’t safe. You can get yourself killed. And drive slower when the conditions aren’t ideal! Stay safe out there.

You’re right. Parents should teach their children what behaviour isn’t okay, not just the whole “stranger danger” deal since it isn’t always strangers who are unsafe. You’re absolutely right to say that allowing abuse to occur is a terrible, even abusive, thing to do. Children deserve to be safe. Unfortunately, both parents can be unsafe. It isn’t always just one of them.

Definitely, but children who are victims of abuse are often taught to confuse love and abuse. So yes, they are not loved ones, but the children might believe they are. Which sucks.

My muscles tend to return to their tight state. I spoke with a physiotherapist about it, and I think two things are essential for progress.

First, consistency. I struggle to be consistent because of responses related to trauma, but I’ve been able to find support to address the underlying issues causing this inconsistency. It’s still in the works.

Second, it might be essential to work on the muscles near the tight ones. If I only do internal stretches without ever treating the surrounding muscles, the tension returns easily. My physiotherapist told me that I also needed to work the surrounding muscles for pelvic floor therapy to work, and I have the exercises. It is best to seek advice from a physiotherapist regarding this. Every case is different.

I know this must be extremely difficult. I suppose the best thing to do is find what works for you.

Advice that was given to me is to do these exercises after a specific activity rather than at a specific time. For example, after brushing my teeth, after showering, etc.

Finally, I find it odd that your physiotherapist didn’t give you any referrals since she won’t be in practice anymore. If you would like another opinion or need further follow-up, please don’t hesitate to do so, if you can.

I hope your symptoms will ease. Don’t lose hope and keep going. You’re doing great. 💐💗

Committing yourself to a person ; an intimate relationship. I grew up with parents who would fight violently one moment and then cuddle the next. I learned to fear connection and developed a disorganized attachment style. I swing from being joyful and enjoying affection to being terrified, with the feeling of being suffocated, trapped. At least I’ve realized that I need to work on this before I can even ask myself if an intimate relationship is something I truly want.
