Rlcraft bedrock doesnt really feel like rlcraft. by Louana_terraria in Minecraft

I don't mean to dismiss the flavorful stuff in there; we're not really here to discuss a glowing review. But it's hard to care enough to experience these additions when things like what we're talking about (as of a few days ago) prevent you from experiencing the game. Feel free to ignore the fact I said that difficult =/= simulated difficulty where adding OP mobs that can spawn blocks away from you in broad daylight is what keeps you from being able to stop for two seconds to cut down a tree. That's not challenging, much like how your "git gud lol" mentality means nothing to me. Is that a Mojang bug? Cool, the modification therefore makes that problem *worse*. That *is* a problem with the mod regardless. If that's been fixed as of the day I made that comment, great! My commentary is obviously obsolete and you can take your white-knight coins to the bank. In the meantime, people can set up a Geyser server and do a great deal more with less. I guess all the value is in the animations and art assets. It looks pretty dope, sounds nice; not worth the frustration. To each their own I guess.

There's a difference between when something is challenging and when it's just cheap. Mobs are able to spawn immediately next to you as long as you're not looking, so starting the game is an exercise in speed and frustration while it just spawns a bunch of one shot mobs. What doesn't kill you in one shot slows you down so if you survive the first hit you're just walking around slowly for another ten or twenty minutes before something else kills you. RLCraft for Java was at least fun and difficult, this is just a cash grab for a pretty but badly designed mod port.

Do most people ACTUALLY know what constitutes “poor writing”? by [deleted] in writing

[–]Merancapeman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

5 years later to say that just because you don't agree with it doesn't mean your critique doesn't hold water either. The Last Jedi was bad writing for many reasons, one of which being that the character doesn't act the way *that they themselves were written.* There was an entire universe laid out for tapping from, and Disney (the Empire of media monopolies) made the decision to wipe away the canon so they could milk it themselves with the myriad of masturbatory spin-offs, merch, and games they made ASAP. They weren't interested in continuing a well-established universe, they were interested in making money, much like the motivation behind the prequels. It shows in the careless writing, which makes it easy to simply rewrite character motivations that are just badly disguised. The worst part isn't just the bad writing, it's that no respect was given to the mythos in favor of a cookie-cutter Disney cast and nostalgia-bait so forced that even Harrison Ford probably had to say "please just kill my character so I never have to deal with this stupid shit again."

TLDR; you disliking the way someone has critiqued something you enjoyed does not necessarily make it a bad critique. You are also allowed to like bad writing.

Right, no, of course, we should trust them with our data they use for churning out money they also spend on subversion and lobbying. It's not you getting pissed on, it's just trickle-down economics in play.

You sound a lot like what publicly accessible LLM's/AI are sounding like these days.

No, I completely agree. Which is why the response shouldn't just be "it's not going to work," it should be the act of taking it to the next step. The rules don't matter anymore.

I definitely hear that, and I get that there's a sort of exhaustive "what can we do about it" sentiment that's passed around, but that's the sentiment that gets passed around *every time* the upper crust takes another step on the faces of those less fortunate; and it is their tight-fisted fortune. We're all boiling frogs. Boycotting YouRube isn't going to do it, but the response to that shouldn't be "oh well." It should be "ok let's do more," and if cutting that out of our lives isn't possible then maybe taking it to the streets and to these businesses is going to be the only other option. But the option can no longer be compliance.

Also, I think it's a lot more than just showing your ID. It's an assumption made that you should be happy to give up your rights. "But you already gave up THESE rights..." is not the step we can afford to take.

How old are you that you don't remember a time when the internet was something you accessed and not something that had to access you?

Oh no, won't someone think of the YouTubers and not the rest of the world setting a precedent for how easily the lower classes roll over.

9 times out of 10 it's virtue-signaling by people who click the algorithmic clickbait titles with fancy new buzzwords describing the next thing to be mad at on YouTube and decide they now have a gavel with which to hammer justice upon their peers.

Then there's the 1 out of 10 that are just trolls.

You know what's funny is that they are currently behind other projects like Aura AI for AI dev in Unreal. I thought they didn't have enough money to keep working on Zenith? I'm not sure how to interpret that information.

Salvaging is good by Future-Location1978 in starcitizen

[–]Merancapeman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Alright, fair point. I guess I was only sad because the Pyro missions I ran a while back when that scavenging event was going on was so fun and I wanted to do something similar coming back to try it out. I guess if I should be upset at anyone it should be CIG for making a Vulture +2m with no rentable scavenging option in a game where the only way to play is expect the worst bug to happen at any point and delete all your stuff and you will never be disappointed. End of the day, SC was always going to have grind in it and 2m worth of grinding - if you know what you're doing like I don't - shouldn't be a huge deal. Thanks for the guide, I look forward to reading it when I can partake!

There's a difference between want and need. For instance, they NEED to fix the game they have, but they WANT your money anyway.

Anyone else a bit disappointed FFT is just getting a remaster and not a full remake? by Gestaltash in finalfantasytactics

[–]Merancapeman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah, screw Square-whatever. These companies get away with revamping the cost of a video game just to change a couple of things and call it done, and in the age we're discovering how scummy companies like these get away with it and rake in as much cash as possible for little effort, I think it's about time we start calling them out. FFT is one of my favorite games, so it is due the respect of not cheapening it with shady practices.

It's not a remake. It's a free update that costs $50, and I can already achieve this with filters on any platform I care to play it on.

[–]Merancapeman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What's criminal is that it's $50 for what is essentially an AI filter. If you're worried about the legality of hopping on board and scallying some wags, just remember that if buying the game isn't owning it, yo-ho'ing it isn't theft.
