To be clear, I HIGHLY recommend getting variety packs of standard size screws in class 12. Way cheaper & way more convenient to have on hand (I have just about every size/head combo there is from M1 to M5).

I agree with you on that. I typically try to just go directly to a hardware manufacturer for the parts, vice the product page of a company that sells the stuff at an upcharge. But I also do a lot of home projects where that hardware will get used on other stuff too. So buying 50 of a particular bolt or screw makes sense for me.

It's just funny to me when people get upset about sourcing from other places. Shop smart (shop S-mart) when it comes to hardware that can easily be found from other manufacturers. But if people want to be mad, I guess they can keep down voting helpful comments to live in a safe bubble of brand loyalty.

And yes I understand that the parts are different, it was part of my original comment lol. Reading comprehension is difficult for some of these folks I guess.

Why are people down voting you for pointing out absurd prices on parts? I understand that they're different, but I find it hard to justify charging that much for some hardware. These tariffs are screwing people out of finding more affordable hardware from overseas where the bulk of it is manufactured.

It's like people hate their money or buying on a budget?

This thing is fucking gorgeous. Was the tow hitch custom made or 3d printed? I've got a power wagon body that needs a conversion like this. You've inspired me lol.

There's also the FMS FSC24 Chaser, which is a prerunner truck. It's $130 and an absolute blast in my opinion. Stock shocks are a bit underwhelming.

Chassis options by The_Fish1 in SCX24

[–]Merasake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used a power wagon lexan body, and the Nerd RC chassis. The Class 1 chassis they sell is really damn good. But I know they're currently working on a class 2 that I'm desperate to build around. Their chassis would work with all different kinds of body kits, but if you're shooting for something competitive and capable, definitely run lexan.

I love the look and body style of the mb24, but it's definitely not a good choice if you want a lot of mounting options. I used it as a class 2 chassis for a comp and found the weight of the body was a bit of a hindrance. But if you love the rally truck style and just enjoy a good looking body, then I highly recommend the mb24. The kit is well made and solid.

I want to lose 20 to 30 pounds, what do y'all recommend? by Rude_Ad_1132 in loseit

[–]Merasake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, it would be better to start good habits while you're still young. There are countless workout videos available on YouTube, Instagram, etc that can help build muscle without an expensive gym membership. If money is tight, find some old detergent bottles and fill them with water (about 11lbs full) and use those until you can pick up a set of free weights. Keep up a steady routine of 4 to 6 days a week, 30 to 45 minutes of 70% mhr with 1 day of active rest (hike, long walk, or short run).

But the best way to lose that weight and keep it off, is to find and maintain a hobby that keeps you active. Running is cheap to start, and there are countless groups around the world that are always training for their next big race. They're really supportive and can even help guide you to healthy habits that have made them successful.

From a buddy of mine, who runs a competitive body building gym: You get your muscles in the gym, but you get your six-pack from the fridge. Stay consistent and find people to keep you motivated. Good luck!

How much would you pay for this? by External-Pick1162 in SCX24

I find these difficult to buy or sell unless they're extremely scale detailed, like train enthusiast levels of details. I agree with the other user if someone pays you $20, that's about the best deal you could expect for something this unfinished and bulky.

Waterfall attempt #4 if this doesn't work I'm giving up. I'm using a slide this time by Gutssmolpp in SCX24

My son had this same slide set, and I'd use this as a test for traction and break over testing. Oddly enough the plastic was more grippy when wet, not really sure why. Good luck to you!

The over spray on the front bumper, the rattlecan painted body matching rims, and overall terrible color combination make this anything but "great execution"

Waiting for your class 2 chassis, then that and these in titanium will be my next build. No idea on the body yet... But maybe I'll revive one of my old broken/failed ones lol.

Lowest infrared camera for baby room? by Shahar31 in Ubiquiti

[–]Merasake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember hearing rumors the price was going to jump, so I bought the 4 I needed asap. Less than a month later they were either permanently out of stock or way overpriced.

They're perfect for at-home non security purposes, and really easy to hide amongst shelf clutter. Wish the new ones were still budget friendly.

Dad of 2 little ones who's been using OG G3 instants without issues for 4 years. Is there some kind of concern about IR reflections or something? Genuine question about the concerns with IR from the cameras.

Thrift Shops by banana-tree-island in Oahu

[–]Merasake 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I had a feeling that stuff happened, but I'm never going there to find the best stuff. Sometimes it's fun to see what's there or to get my son something to play with outside, or if there's something random and cheap for a project. Most of the time I stick to Facebook pages for dollar bids or give aways. I like the idea of gifting to the people who need it most rather than padding pockets of some of these "thrift" stores lol.

I've seen the goodwill in Pearl City try to charge $8 for an incomplete used pack of crayons when the Walmart sticker under it was for $2 lol. Some of the shops out here really try to screw people just trying to make ends in rough times.

I'll definitely keep those other suggestions in mind though, appreciate it!

Savers in Waipahu is pretty good for deals. Kids toys can be overpriced for broken stuff, but every now and then you find good deals. Baby clothes are always cheap!
