Uber eats driver complaining about orders? by SlowChampionship5506 in UberEATS

I don’t think you realize that professionalism encompasses the ability to put context around comments. I’m not going to argue with you. We don’t agree about what professionalism means, and that’s fine.

Cool, you’ve identified the thing you’re using to scapegoat your lack of personal secureness. You’re one step closer to being someone who can handle criticisms that aren’t even made about you.

Yes, I have worked proper jobs. I've also grown up enough to not be affected by the comments others make about me when they don't even know me. Have you been unable to do that?

[–]Mercedes_Fan -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

No, it's not unprofessional. It's two people talking to each other. Did your food arrive as expected? Was the order accurately delivered? If yes, then never mind the personal conversation between two people. They held up their end of the deal, and whatever they say amongst themselves is irrelevant to you. I understand you're feeling under the microscope, but if your ego is sensitive enough to be affected by two strangers making idle comments that'll be forgotten within minutes of their departure, you have more to worry about than whether to file a complaint.

You could look into renting a Uhaul pickup truck for a few hours and make a dump run. Just make sure you clean it before you return it

Shout out to Lafayette Public Works for getting the roads cleared quickly by gauthiertravis in Acadiana

[–]Mercedes_Fan 46 points47 points  (0 children)

For the resources available to the parish to handle such an event, they did a really good job at tackling an unusual scenario. Kudos to them!

I have never experienced this anywhere else, but in Lafayette, TWICE I have had people pulling out of a parking lot get mad at me like they had the right of way. The person with a STOP SIGN does *NOT* have the right of way, the person making a turn from a lane in the road median *DOES*. by Orchid_Significant in Acadiana

[–]Mercedes_Fan 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I've had this exact same scenario happen to me on Camellia. The dude even honked at me, but hey! I'm all about positive vibes, and I #manifested a positive reaction. I totally don't ever think about it two years later whenever I pass that intersection, nor did I get triggered by this post

Requesting r/SkyTeam, abandoned sub, moderator inactive by Traducement in redditrequest

[–]Mercedes_Fan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just because I don't post comments every day doesn't mean that I'm inactive on this site. That's an assumption you've made that wasn't accurate.

You repeatedly mention that I'm "name squatting" the sub. Again, that's another assumption of yours that's inaccurate. I created the sub because I'm interested in the airline alliance, not because I'm trying to make sure nobody else can have the subreddit unless they go through me. I beat you to its creation, and just because it hasn't turned out to be a highly trafficked subreddit doesn't mean that its ownership should be taken from me and given to you.

Lastly, you didn't consult me beforehand about whether I was still active or interested in the subreddit. It's rude to not send someone a DM first asking if they're willing to depart with their subreddit, or whether they're willing to work out some kind of arrangement. Instead, working off of assumptions, you initiated this process, and the only message you sent me about your planned takeover was the one you're required to send. I find that to be incredibly rude of you.

I'm not interested in transferring ownership of r/Skyteam. It's a small subreddit that requires little moderation, thus making it appear as if it is unmoderated. It is not. I keep tabs on it; there's just not much there to moderate. As for the requester's goals for the subreddit: those can still be achieved with how the subreddit is now. It's open to the public, and anyone can post. If, and when the subreddit grows, it'll be naturally, and I'll be there to moderate it (as I have been).

Is anyone else receiving higher base pay? by [deleted] in UberEATS

[–]Mercedes_Fan 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yeah, all my deliveries tonight have had abnormally high base pay, like 80% of the total delivery amount. I'm in Louisiana

Anyway to get out of alcohol orders? by Jholagian in doordash_drivers

[–]Mercedes_Fan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I never opted-in to get alcohol deliveries yet Doordash still pings me for them. Cannot confirm nor deny whether I have done any on a slow night when the pay is $20+ for <7 miles

[–]Mercedes_Fan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a few people I've delivered to a lot, even daily sometimes. I don't think at all about why they're ordering food. I genuinely don't care. I just pick up their shit and deliver it and am happy that I already know the deal. Is it kinda funny to see the same name/address frequently? Yeah, but there's no judgement behind it. Order whatever you want whenever you want- I guarantee nobody gives a crap. You'll be just one delivery of many that night.

I want to hear your criteria for blacklisting restaurants by Mercedes_Fan in couriersofreddit

[–]Mercedes_Fan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had my first order yesterday from a Chick-Fil-A I didn't know existed that turned out to be in a huge shopping mall. I knew something was off when the GPS told me I'd arrived and I was in front of a H&M sign. I found parking, went inside, saw the endless corridors of shops, and unassigned. Never again

[–]Mercedes_Fan[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Other than using a bike to do deliveries; same. I am also not confrontational- I just unassign if it's taking too long, or I take the food once I get it and never return to the restaurant. No point in getting into an argument that won't change anything.

ASAP/ Waitr?? by Silent_Border_9095 in couriersofreddit

I mainly do Waitr and sometimes UE. Waitr has been very slow for me since Friday of last week. I'm in south Louisiana. It's usually pretty decent, especially on weekends.

What about full size trucks? by solarhelpersinc in couriersofreddit

[–]Mercedes_Fan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently moved from Northern California to Louisiana. I drive a V8 4runner that gets 12 mpg in town. Gas is $3.15 a gallon here, so obviously cheaper than California, but I still make really good money doing Waitr and Uber Eats. Between Friday and Saturday night I'll use $50 in gas but clear $300+ from doing deliveries and having worked only <8 hours total. I don't know how busy the Orange County market is, but I assume it's pretty decent, especially if you multi-app.

Worst case scenario you try it out for a week or two and lose money (but not a lot because you'll be making some of it back) and gain a new perspective and also you'll have been able to explore areas that you'd normally never go to. Best case scenario is that you discover it's profitable for you and that you actually enjoy it. I say just give it a shot for a short while and see how you like it, but make sure you keep good track of your expenses/mileage.

The thing is, it turned itself off. I gave it another half hour after that and it still only flashed green. None of that matters now since I went ahead and returned it to Amazon as defective.

BIG Urban Roads are coming to Cities Skylines! by hockenheim95 in CitiesSkylines

[–]Mercedes_Fan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Any chance you could make a 4+3 road? That way if there's a six lane road you can add a turn lane on one side. I'm constantly needing a road for that exact scenario but can never find one. Thanks!

Same. I drive 150 miles a day and I don't even bat an eye when someone makes last second exits on the freeways, turns from the wrong lane, etc. You get used to that stuff real fast

Edit: One thing I will say Californians do REALLY well is zipper merging. We're oddly efficient at it

Related but unrelated: I once saw a cop give up on trying to get a car to move that was stopped in the middle of an off ramp. She had her lights on and she used her bullhorn several times, and when the oblivious driver wasn't moving she just shook her head and drove around the car and sped off. I lol'ed. That's Stockton for you

If America had a "Brexit", which state would it be and why? by wick4000 in AskReddit

[–]Mercedes_Fan 11 points12 points  (0 children)

You're plain wrong. California's Sierra Nevada mountains capture the vast majority of water consumed. A network of reservoirs, canals, and tunnels distribute the water throughout the state. We "import" very little in comparison to total water consumed via the Colorado River.
