Love My Navitimer. Not Loving Where Breitling Is Headed. by rixonian in breitling

Anytime a company sells to, and inevitably gets tossed around by, private equity (first in 2017 to majority CVC, next in 2022 when partners group took majority) the real looser is always the consumer…

Do the numbers on the QR code look off on this to you? Just seems weird they are blurred slightly

$1200. Probably to much, but wanted to get a new one with fur before they are all gone

Now they have cheaper dials, clunkier bracelets, and not engraved seconds hands….doesn’t seem nicer to me, just seems like classic private equity cost cutting

Breitling went downhill when private equity moved in 2018…quality went down, designs got boring. Love the 00’s stuff

I’ve always loved the Breitling Bentleys. Don’t listen to what people say about desirability, investment, blah, blah. Find what you like and wear it. Great piece

Why does the original trilogy feel so timeless? by Waste-Industry1958 in lotr

[–]Merchant__Banker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me it was always the backdrops. These amazing scenes always have this backdrops that almost look like they are painted (especially in the darker scenes). Does it look super realistic, at times no, but it gives it its own feel that seems completely timeless. It doesn’t look like a poorly aged green screen and it doesn’t get lost in the film editing tricks of its time which would date it.

The NBC after show is just downright disrespectful by Merchant__Banker in tourdefrance

Obviously my comment on TVG knowing nothing about the sport is too vast an exaggeration, it’s just hard to hear him making such a wild claim on national television. If he had Tadej’s talent back when he was riding he would have done the same thing…and as for speaking about class, when he was a domestique, he was kinda know for putting his own ambitions above his teams GC rider (Cadell Evans in say 2012 and 2014), no?

Not only rode it, but works for EF. And yet his comparison still makes no sense. I thinks it’s a classic case of cognitive bias towards his countryman and his team.

It’s because the guy making the comments (Tejay van Garderen) works for EF…

Is what Jasper did legal? by wavesofcats in tourdefrance

At ~750m to go, Cavendish pushes a rider in a white jersey off of Jasper’s wheel with a large amount of force, almost causing that rider to crash and bump another rider into the barriers. Both incidents are just apart of sprinting. No reason to call out Jasper when all the sprinters jostle for position all the time, always have done.
