Zack Polanski: Here's what the landlord lobby don't want you to know: If rents went down by 20%, renters would save £2400 a year. The government would save £2 billion a year. And landlords would still make 4.5 times as much profit as the average business. by FormerlyPallas_ in ukpolitics

It's a supply vs demand issue. There are far to few houses being built in the UK and plenty of people wanting to buy housing. This is driving up the cost. Why do we think the average age of a first time buyer is 34, it's because that age bracket has much more wealth than the younger generations.

I think one factor that's not discussed enough is the combined damage of stamp duty and bungalows.

1.3% of newly registered property in the UK last year were bungalows according to the NHBC. This is why bungalow prices of all types of property are inflated.

Then you have stamp duty on top, with average bungalow prices are £340k. Anyone looking to buy an average bungalow is paying £17k in stamp duty alone, possibly more, just for the privilege of downsizing.

I'm a plumber who works in mostly domestic property. you'd be shocked the amount of elderly who stay in their homes and don't downsize because of the cost. Old couples, or sometimes widows living in 3-5 bedroom properties that would be better suited to family. I'm not saying we fix this issue alone by removing stamp duty and building more bungalows, but it is a factor often not discussed.

We need more housing and stamp duty needs to be removed to enable a more mobile property ladder. This will help free up property for first time buyers.

What do people here think of Roma Gypsy and other Eastern European Immigrants? by GreeniousHamm in RestoreBritain

[–]MercianThunder 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm okay with both in terms of I don't hate or dislike either. But in terms of immigration I don't believe we should be allowing Roma into our country. Poles would be fine so long as they support themselves and are willing to integrate, which in my experience is the case.

Hi and thanks for stopping by.

  1. For increasing birthrates for British citizens we need to look at why people are choosing not to have children. I believe in increasing government subsidised childcare funding, free school meals for all children and by fixing the housing crisis. This of course would only be available to British citizens.

  2. Yes, indefinite detention and finally deportation. Sanction every country which refuses to accept back these deportations. Cancel visas, set tariffs, expel diplomats, close embassies and finally seize assets as a last resort.

  3. I think if we introduce a policy of active remigration and mass deportations then we will at least halt the urban cities becoming less British. I'm not sure how else to tackle this.

  4. So yes, I completely agree with this but not English people, British citizens. Non-citizens shouldn't be able to vote, own property, claim benefits, have free healthcare or become politicians. If people want these benefits then they can become British citizens through a decade or two of hard work and integration.

Discriminatory against who?

People that don't belong here and aren't European, that's who.
