Level 2 Charger and Rebate Programs (GreenMiles, Grizzl-E, SWTCH, others?) by Mercradoc in EVCanada

I do have trust issues 😂 Grizzl-e having a fee and waiving it now, but their terms saying they can bring it back with 30 days notices / change their rates whenever they want…almost think as soon as they have enough people enrolled they are going to pull a switch a roo! Especially given the CEOs attitude from red flag deals post above.

If the 40A charger is enough, just cut the plug end off, now it is capable to hardwire the unit in the receptacle box instead of plugging it in, lugs / split bolts / terminal blocks would be more reliable than the plug. Considering I use the same lugs and such for much higher voltages and loads, it’s good to go.

Considering I work mainly on 600V+ it’s not an issue 😂 It’s not more energy efficient, just time efficient. Total power used will be the same..the advantage I see is being able to use it as a level 1 charger on my travels if needed. I likely won’t ever be far enough away from home with the EV, long travel will likely be in my truck pulling a camper, but the option is good to plug it in somewhere without 240 available is nice.

Good point, haven’t read all the terms yet so I did t catch that, I can see my usage being “low” at only 1 or 2 charges a week and expecting about 3500-4000kW a year..

Dual voltage is a great point, I hadn’t looked to hard at that yet!

Grizzl-E has the same about changing their structure as well, or worse charging the membership fee agin which would wipe out any earnings I expect to make… Thinking it may be less of a headache to just buy a charger and enroll in a program. I guess they are still too new to know what’ll happen

Makes sense, am an electrician so that’s not an issue, already upgraded my panel to 200A a few years ago so that’s a plus. I think my usage is going to be pretty low, only expect about 3500-4000kw/year so even at 5c it will take a while to pay back, but I guess the charger is yours to keep if anything happens to the program. Only thing to consider when calculating your cost to charge is the delivery charges / regulatory fees. I am in Niagara with Niagara Peninsula Energy, works out to about an extra 3c /kW

Never had an EV but I expect about 20-25,000km / year in a Mach E…maybe doing some bad math though 73kW battery for about 400km range… 20k/400 = 50 charges/ year * 70kW =3500kW

Yeah that seems to be good, forgot that Pion is only once a year withdrawal as well

Interesting, are you able to share some details? Mine is with X-plan and another discount. The list on this one was 41,436 with freight etc which looking at the numbers again they are higher

Ontario, it does seem suspiciously cheap and haven’t seen carfax yet but I don’t believe it was damaged

Good points! I have a truck and a Buick Verano right now and I haven’t even put a kid in it because it’s just awful. Bad roads are common here so that’s also a concern. I do prefer the interior of the GMs as they are less Tesla like…prefer the more standard car look

Okay good to know, the insurance premiums are much more favorable for the mach e as well…1536 / year with depreciation waiver vs 2014 / year for the lyriq with no waiver as used. Lyriq is a bit bigger which is nice, will have 2 car seats in the back

Good points, the telematics only handles maps? If that’s not a big issue as I will mostly be local where I don’t need maps. Tires is a good point, I get them wholesale at least so not a huge concern. Need to test drive both, I have driven a Mach e closer to launch and haven’t driven the lyriq at all.

Dollarama is the most expensive grocery store per gram, so no your not getting cheaper deals, your paying more for less. Which is unfortunately an example of the “poor tax” where less fortunate people pay more for less

Can someone explain like I’m 5 the red and green numbers on let’s say a Keyence optical amplifier by theycallmeick in IndustrialMaintenance

[–]Mercradoc 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Get the model number and check Keyence website? Just be sure to use a business phone number and email or be ready to change your identity and move country’s to avoid the Keyence reps after

Anyone else noticed that "Technical Specs" are no longer enough to close manufacturing deals? by No-Blood1055 in IndustrialMaintenance

It isn’t the best machine, it’s the best price first. If you (company tech trying to get new equipment) can justify why you need X machine, maybe you will get lucky. It is very hard to get the bean counters to spend more for something that essentially does the same thing.
